Bangladesh fast bowler Hasan Mahmud has entered an elite group featuring Pakistan legend Wasim Akram after producing a match-winning performance in his maiden Test appearance in Australia.

The 26-year-old claimed nine wickets as Bangladesh stunned Australia by nine wickets at Marrara Stadium on Sunday, helping the Tigers secure a historic Test victory on Australian soil.

Hasan was particularly destructive in Australia’s first innings, ripping through the hosts’ batting order with a six-wicket haul. His spell helped Bangladesh dismiss Australia for just 198 on the opening day.

The right-arm pacer continued his impressive work in the second innings, taking another three wickets and finishing the match with nine wickets overall.

His performance earned him the third-best Test match figures by a visiting bowler in a maiden Test in Australia, placing his name alongside some of the game’s greatest fast bowlers.

The PML-N has won a simple majority to form the government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The party secured 23 out of 45 seats. This was confirmed by Rana Sanaullah, adviser to the prime minister on political affairs. Bilawal addressed PML-N directly in a video message. He asked if they could hear a sound. He said it was the countdown for the federal government beginning. He also announced a public gathering in Bagh district. He called on supporters in Poonch to prepare for a rally on August 10. He told them to get ready for his arrival. Bilawal described the elections as neither free nor fair. He called them rigged, and used strong words like bullet elections and bloody elections. Despite the results, he praised his party workers. He said the PPP had won nine seats despite the difficult circumstances. He vowed to reclaim seats he said had been stolen in Mirpur and Muzaffarabad. He said the PPP would continue its struggle and would not lose courage or leave the field. Sindh minister and senior PPP leader Sharjeel Inam Memon issued a similar warning shortly before Bilawal spoke. Memon said the countdown for the federal government had begun. He claimed PML-N had given ballot papers to its candidates two days before voting, working together with the Election Commission.     Karachi police kill suspect in 6-year-old girl’s…

    Karachi police say the alleged suspect in the abduction and murder of a six-year-old girl was killed during a shootout in the city’s Keamari district after reportedly opening fire on officers attempting to arrest him. According to police, the case was registered at Jackson Police Station under charges related to kidnapping for ransom and murder following the disappearance and killing of the young girl. Investigators relied on CCTV footage collected from multiple locations, along with technical and forensic evidence, to identify and trace the suspect. Police said they received credible intelligence about the suspect’s location in the Mubarak Mosque area within the limits of Jackson Police Station. When officers arrived to carry out the arrest, the suspect allegedly opened fire on the police team. Officers returned fire, and the suspect sustained gunshot wounds. He later died from his injuries, according to the police statement. Following the incident, authorities secured the scene, collected evidence, and initiated legal and forensic procedures. Police said a separate case regarding the exchange of fire is also being registered, while investigations into the girl’s abduction and murder continue. The body of the six-year-old victim was recovered from bushes in Karachi’s Manora area. Police Surgeon Dr. Sumaiyya Syed said the child had been subjected to sexual assault and that multiple injuries were found on her body. Forensic samples have been collected, while the final cause of death will be determined after laboratory reports are completed. Investigators said they are continuing to examine CCTV footage, forensic findings, medico-legal reports, and other technical evidence to establish all circumstances surrounding the crime and determine whether anyone else may have been involved. The tragic case has sparked widespread concern over child safety and violent crimes against minors, with many calling for swift justice and stronger measures to protect children from such offences.
