Following the leak, Samay Raina addressed the issue through his Instagram stories, asking viewers not to consume pirated versions of the episode.     Cher has been ordered to bear more than $1 million in her own legal expenses despite previously winning a long-running legal battle over music royalties linked to her former husband and musical partner, Sonny Bono. The legal dispute began in October 2021 when the legendary singer and actress filed a lawsuit against Sonny Bono’s widow, Mary Bono. Cher sought to protect her right to receive royalties from songs recorded during the successful Sonny & Cher partnership and claimed she was entitled to damages after her royalty payments were challenged. According to the lawsuit, Cher argued that her 1978 divorce settlement with Sonny Bono guaranteed her a 50% share of the royalties generated by their music catalogue. She alleged that Mary Bono had attempted to terminate those royalty rights under U.S. copyright law, depriving her of income she was legally entitled to receive. The dispute centred on whether Cher’s contractual rights established through the divorce agreement could continue despite copyright termination provisions. Cher maintained that the divorce settlement remained valid and enforceable, while Mary Bono challenged those claims. In May 2024, the court ruled in Cher’s favour on the central issue. The judge found that she was entitled to unpaid royalty payments and awarded her more than $418,000 in damages for royalties that had been withheld. Following that victory, Cher sought to recover the legal costs she had accumulated while pursuing the case. In January 2026, she filed a request asking the court to award her $1,023,605.30 in attorney’s fees. Her legal team argued that the case involved a common set of facts across multiple claims and counterclaims, making it unnecessary to separate the legal costs for each issue individually. They also contended that any work related to Mary Bono’s partially successful counterclaim represented only a minimal portion of the overall litigation. However, the judge rejected Cher’s request for attorney’s fees in a ruling issued on July 17. The court concluded that the case was fundamentally a contract dispute rather than one arising under federal copyright law. Because of that distinction, the judge determined that Cher was not entitled to recover her legal expenses from the opposing side. As a result of the ruling, Cher will have to cover more than $1 million in attorney’s fees herself, despite winning the underlying royalties dispute. Court filings also indicated that approximately $10,000 in additional legal costs was expected to be incurred for her representation. The case marks the latest chapter in a years-long legal battle involving the financial legacy of Sonny & Cher, one of the most influential entertainment duos of the 1960s and 1970s. Cher and Sonny Bono rose to international fame with a string of hit songs before expanding into television with The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour, which became one of the era’s most popular variety shows. Following their divorce and the end of their professional partnership, both continued with separate careers. Sonny Bono later entered politics, serving as mayor of Palm Springs before being elected to the U.S. Congress, where he remained until his death in 1998.

    PMD issues high flood alert as Head Marala records over 205,000 cusecs inflow

    SIALKOT: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a High Flood Level Advisory for the River Chenab, warning that high water flows are expected to persist over the next 6 to 8 hours before gradually receding as rainfall over the upper catchments continues to decrease. According to the latest flood monitoring data, Head Marala has reached a high flood level, with water inflow recorded at 205,488 cusecs and outflow at 187,388 cusecs, indicating sustained high water levels in the Chenab River system. The Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) said the high flood situation has been caused by heavy rainfall across the upper Chenab catchment, as observed through hydro-meteorological data and the Sialkot weather radar. Although rainfall has now weakened across the major sub-catchments, river flows are expected to remain high for the next several hours before gradually declining. The advisory states that the River Chenab at Marala will likely remain at High Flood Level for the next 6 to 8 hours, provided current rainfall trends continue. It further warns that Khanki and Qadirabad are expected to reach High Flood Level within the next 10 to 12 hours. Besides the Chenab, the Jammu Tawi River is currently experiencing a medium-level flood, with a recorded inflow of 11,868 cusecs, while the Manawar Tawi is flowing at a low flood level, carrying 8,123 cusecs of water. The PMD has cautioned that residents living in riverine (Kacha) areas adjacent to the Chenab may face hazardous conditions and should avoid unnecessary movement near riverbanks and flood-prone locations until water levels begin to recede. The advisory also warns that standing crops, fodder fields and livestock in low-lying floodplain areas remain vulnerable to inundation. Low-lying roads, river crossings, embankment approaches and transport routes close to the river may also experience localized disruptions due to the elevated water levels. The Flood Forecasting Division said it will continue to closely monitor hydro-meteorological conditions, river flows and weather radar observations, issuing further updates if the situation changes. Meanwhile, provincial and district administrations, irrigation departments and other concerned agencies have been urged to maintain enhanced monitoring of river conditions and remain fully prepared for any emergency. The PMD noted that decisions regarding rescue, relief and emergency response will be taken by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and the respective district administrations. Authorities have advised residents, particularly those living in riverine and low-lying areas, to stay alert, follow official instructions and avoid unnecessary travel near flood-affected locations until the situation improves.

    Dera Ghazi Khan: The Ghazi University, Dera Ghazi Khan observed National Minorities Day today on the special directions of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad. The event, organized by the Directorate of Students Affairs and hosted by Prof. Dr. Arshad Munir, brought together members of the non-Muslim community and university officials to highlight the equal rights, religious freedom, and contributions of minorities in Pakistan. Senior university officials, Registrar Dr. Muhammad Asif, Prof. Dr. Saeed Ullah, Dr. Muhammad Ziaullah, Director ORIC Dr. Sagheer Atta, Dr. Irum Aziz, Dr. Khizra Bakhsh, and other faculty members were also in the event. The programme commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran by an M.Phil scholar from the Department of Islamic Studies, followed by the recitation of verses from the Injeel (Gospel) by Mr. Boota Masih. Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim then presented a Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool in praise of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Thereafter, the National Anthem of Pakistan was played, with all participants standing in respect. In his welcome address, Prof. Dr. Arshad Munir highlighted the significance of National Minorities Day in Pakistan. He acknowledged the historic contributions of the non-Muslim community to the establishment of Pakistan and their continued role in strengthening the nation. On behalf of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad, he extended an open invitation to members of the non-Muslim community to visit Ghazi University and enrol their children for higher education, assuring that the university would provide full facilitation and support in this regard. Two documentaries were screened during the event. The first showcased the establishment and progressive transformation of Ghazi University under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad. The second, prepared by the Directorate of Students Affairs, highlighted the efforts of non-Muslim personalities and movements that played a vital role in the creation of Pakistan and in its subsequent development. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Saleem Ilyas expressed gratitude to the university administration for inviting members of the non-Muslim community and honouring them. He stated that minorities in Pakistan enjoy complete liberty, freedom of livelihood and worship, and equal rights alongside citizens of all other faiths.     Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has said the recently signed defense agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey is designed to strengthen regional cooperation and security rather than target Iran. Speaking in Ankara, Fidan said the agreement follows the principle of collective defense reflected in Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), under which an attack on one member is treated as an attack on all. He explained that the new framework will include a ministerial committee and a general secretariat modeled partly on NATO’s structure. The secretariat is expected to be based in Saudi Arabia.
