Karachi water crisis: Munem Zafar Khan says citize…

Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi chief Munem Zafar Khan has expressed concern over the worsening civic problems in Karachi, saying that residents of the city are struggling even for basic necessities such as clean water.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Munem Zafar Khan criticized the provincial government over issues related to water supply, electricity, infrastructure, and public services. He said that the city continues to face serious challenges despite repeated promises of improvement.

The Jamaat-e-Islami leader claimed that shortly after the first drops of rain fell in Karachi, around 200 power feeders were affected, causing electricity disruptions in several areas. He questioned the performance of K-Electric, stating that despite receiving significant government support, improvements in power generation and transmission systems had not met public expectations.

Munem Zafar Khan also criticized the Sindh government over urban infrastructure issues, claiming that Karachi lacks adequate facilities and that residents are facing difficulties due to shortages of essential services.

He raised concerns about drainage problems and safety issues, stating that several people had lost their lives after falling into open gutters. He questioned why proper maintenance and safety measures had not been implemented despite repeated incidents.

The JI Karachi chief also criticized the pace of development projects, claiming that funds allocated for drainage cleaning and infrastructure improvements were often utilized shortly before the monsoon season instead of through year-round planning.

Discussing the city’s water shortage, he said that a significant portion of Karachi’s coastal population continues to face difficulties accessing water. He also raised concerns about delays in the K-IV water project, saying that the project remains crucial for meeting the city’s growing water needs.

Munem Zafar Khan further criticized delays in road and transport projects, including water pipeline work and other development schemes, alleging that political interests and poor management have affected progress.

He also mentioned health-related concerns, referring to reports of HIV cases among children and calling for accountability and improvements in healthcare systems.

The Sindh government and other relevant authorities have faced repeated criticism from opposition parties over Karachi’s civic challenges, including water shortages, electricity problems, waste management, and infrastructure development.

Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city and economic hub, continues to face pressure from rapid population growth and increasing demand for public services. Experts have emphasized the need for long-term planning, better governance, and effective implementation of development projects to address the city’s growing challenges.

Tommy Lee says money struggles led him to escort w…

Tommy Lee is shedding light on one of the least-known chapters of his life before becoming one of rock music’s biggest stars. The Mötley Crüe drummer recently revealed that financial struggles pushed him into working as a male escort during his early years in Los Angeles, long before the band achieved worldwide fame. His candid confession offers fans a surprising glimpse into the sacrifices he made while chasing his dream of becoming a successful musician.  Speaking on the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast, Lee explained that he, bassist Nikki Sixx and singer Vince Neil were living together in a small apartment when they met a woman who operated an escort service. At the time, the aspiring musicians were struggling to survive, receiving only about $20 a week from their manager. Faced with mounting financial pressure, they accepted the opportunity to earn extra income.  Lee admitted that the offer seemed impossible to refuse because it paid far more than what the band was earning. According to the drummer, he went on approximately nine or ten dates. While the word “escort” may sound dramatic, Lee explained that many of the appointments simply involved having dinner and providing companionship to older women. He recalled that several of the women were friendly and enjoyable to spend time with, making the experience different from what many people might assume.  The musician’s story highlights just how difficult life was before Mötley Crüe broke into the music industry. Like many aspiring artists, Lee faced years of uncertainty and financial hardship while trying to establish himself. His latest revelation serves as a reminder that success often comes after overcoming unexpected obstacles and making difficult choices.  After forming Mötley Crüe in 1981, Lee’s fortunes changed dramatically. The band quickly became one of the biggest names in hard rock, selling millions of albums worldwide and producing hit records including Shout at the Devil, Girls, Girls, Girls, and Dr. Feelgood. Their explosive performances and rebellious image turned them into rock legends, with Lee becoming widely recognized for his energetic drumming and larger-than-life personality.  Over the years, Tommy Lee has also spoken openly about other personal struggles, including addiction and recovery, using his experiences to reflect on the highs and lows of fame. His latest confession adds another layer to that story, showing the difficult road he traveled before reaching stardom.  Today, Lee’s honesty has sparked conversation among fans, many of whom view his story as an example of perseverance rather than scandal. His willingness to discuss the realities of his early life underscores a simple message: behind every success story is often a period of hardship, determination, and the courage to keep pursuing one’s dreams despite the odds.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has urged the international community to build on recent diplomatic progress in the Gulf region, emphasizing that the opportunity to achieve lasting peace should not be wasted. Speaking at the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meeting in Manila, Dar stressed the importance of continued dialogue, diplomacy, and constructive engagement to maintain regional stability. Dar, who arrived in the Philippines with a high-level delegation, is attending the ARF Plenary Meeting and holding bilateral discussions with foreign ministers on the sidelines of the forum. During his address, he noted that recent developments in the Gulf have had far-reaching consequences for countries across the region, making it essential for all stakeholders to work together to prevent further instability. The foreign minister highlighted Pakistan’s role in promoting peace by facilitating diplomatic efforts that contributed to a ceasefire in the Gulf. He referred to the Islamabad Talks, held after a gap of 47 years, followed by the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding in Bürgenstock. According to Dar, these initiatives reflected Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful conflict resolution and regional stability. He expressed gratitude to the United States, Iran, Gulf nations, and other international partners for placing their trust in Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts. Describing the recent progress as the result of patient negotiations and dialogue, Dar warned that these achievements must be safeguarded through continued engagement rather than allowing tensions to resurface. Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting every initiative aimed at restoring peace and security in the region. He urged all parties to exercise restraint, fulfill their commitments, and prioritize diplomatic solutions over confrontation. He also expressed hope that ongoing negotiations would help restore normal shipping operations through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital international trade route. At the beginning of his speech, Dar thanked the Philippines for hosting the ministerial meeting and reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for dialogue, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence. He described the ASEAN Regional Forum as a key platform for regional security cooperation and welcomed the adoption of the Manila Plan of Action (2026–2036), pledging Pakistan’s support for its successful implementation. He called for a peaceful resolution based on the United Nations Charter, relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and the wishes of the Kashmiri people. He also voiced concerns over India’s decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, describing the move as a unilateral action that could threaten Pakistan’s water security and the livelihoods of millions of its citizens. Dar urged the international community to support international law and encourage peaceful solutions to regional disputes. Speaking on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Dar described the situation as deeply concerning and called for immediate international action to prevent further suffering. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s longstanding support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. Peshawar High Court orders inquiry into missing ci…

The Peshawar High Court has issued a written order on a petition seeking the recovery of a missing citizen and directed the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) to conduct a detailed inquiry into the matter. According to the written order, the CCPO has been instructed to appoint an inquiry officer to investigate the disappearance. The court specifically directed that the officer appointed for the inquiry must be of at least the rank of inspector, ensuring that the investigation is conducted by a senior police official. The court also issued several directions regarding the collection of evidence. It ordered the investigating officer to obtain CCTV footage from a private petrol station where the petitioner and his brother were present at the time of the incident. The footage is expected to help establish the circumstances surrounding the citizen’s disappearance and identify any individuals who may have been involved. The court further directed the authorities to record the statement of the petitioner and collect all available evidence related to the case. The inquiry officer has been instructed to examine the facts thoroughly and ensure that no relevant piece of evidence is overlooked during the investigation. The Peshawar High Court ordered that the inquiry be completed within one month and that a detailed report be submitted to the court after its conclusion. The deadline was set to ensure that the investigation proceeds without unnecessary delay and that the family receives information about the whereabouts of the missing citizen. The written order stated that the petitioner and his brother were present at a private petrol pump when the incident allegedly occurred. According to the petitioner’s account, his brother was taken to an unknown location on May 15. Since then, his whereabouts have reportedly remained unknown, prompting the petitioner to approach the high court seeking his recovery. The court also took note of the position presented by the police during the proceedings. According to the written order, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Chamkani Police Station rejected the allegations concerning the disappearance of the petitioner’s brother. Despite the SHO’s denial, the high court considered it necessary to order a formal inquiry and directed senior police authorities to investigate the matter independently. The court’s directions include examining CCTV footage, recording statements and gathering all relevant evidence to determine what happened to the missing citizen. The inquiry is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the disappearance and determine whether further legal action is required. By directing the CCPO to appoint an officer of inspector rank or above, the court has emphasized the need for a serious and transparent investigation. The authorities have been given one month to complete the inquiry and submit their findings before the court. The case will proceed based on the report and evidence collected during the investigation.

Trump hosts Netanyahu, Zelensky for high level tal…

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump is set to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House on Tuesday, as the wars involving Iran and Ukraine enter what officials describe as a decisive and highly sensitive phase. The two leaders are in Washington to attend a memorial service for Senator Lindsey Graham, a prominent Republican ally of Trump and a strong advocate of military support for Ukraine. However, the diplomatic spotlight has shifted to their separate meetings with the US president, which are expected to focus on two of the world’s most volatile conflicts. Trump’s relationship with Zelensky has improved significantly in recent months as Ukrainian forces have slowed Russian advances and intensified strikes on Russian energy infrastructure. Ahead of his meeting, Zelensky said strengthening anti-ballistic missile defence and expanding strategic cooperation with the United States were his top priorities, stressing that efforts to bring peace closer must continue. Despite renewed diplomatic contacts, there is little indication that either the Ukraine war or the widening confrontation involving Iran is nearing an end. Following the collapse of a ceasefire linked to the Iran conflict, Trump has said he paused US airstrikes to allow diplomacy another opportunity, while continuing consultations with regional allies. Netanyahu arrives in Washington amid signs of growing frustration within theWhite House over the lack of progress toward a broader settlement related to Iran. Tensions between Trump and the Israeli leader have become more visible in recent weeks, including reports of a heated phone conversation in June that was later publicly acknowledged by Trump. According to sources familiar with the discussions, Netanyahu is also seeking to reinforce his political standing ahead of Israel’s October 27 election. A public display of close coordination with Trump could help him domestically, where he has faced pressure in opinion polls. Before departing for Washington, Netanyahu said the talks would focus primarily on Iran, while also addressing regional security and efforts to expand peace agreements with Arab states. A White House official said Trump plans to discuss the Iran conflict, tensions between Israel and Lebanon, and the future of the Abraham Accords. The administration is reportedly continuing efforts to encourage Saudi Arabia to join the accords, although Riyadh has maintained that any normalisation with Israel would require a credible pathway toward Palestinian statehood. Trump struck a notably warmer tone when speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, describing Netanyahu as a strong wartime leader and saying the two had worked well together.Zelensky is expected to hold a brief private meeting with Trump, likely without media present. Ukrainian officials say securing additional Patriot missile interceptors is their most urgent request, as Russian missile and drone attacks continue almost daily. The Ukrainian president is also expected to push for expanded air-defence cooperation, progress on a drone agreement with the United States, and discussions on Trump’s proposal to allow Ukraine to produce Patriot interceptors under licence. White House officials said the meeting with Zelensky would focus on the ongoing peace process between Russia and Ukraine and reiterated that the administration believes the time has come to seek an end to the war. After the White House talks, Zelensky is expected to visit Capitol Hill for meetings with all 100 US senators, underscoring the continuing bipartisan interest in Ukraine’s defence despite growing debate over the pace and delivery of American military assistance.
