Iran warns US: Any aggression will be met with a strong and decisive response

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned that any aggression against Iran or its vital infrastructure will trigger a “strong and decisive response”, emphasising that Tehran’s defense doctrine remains grounded in an “eye for an eye” policy.

Writing on social media platform X, Araghchi made it clear that Iran will hit back against any strikes on its territory and cautioned that any third parties providing support to such actions will also be viewed as legitimate targets.

The warning follows aggressive directives from US President Donald Trump, who ordered US Central Command (CENTCOM) to intensify strikes on Iranian positions and threatened that Iran would pay a steep price as military actions continue.

An official from Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reinforced Araghchi’s statement, warning that if US forces target Iranian power plants or bridges, Iran will respond by targeting infrastructure, bridges, and energy assets associated with American interests throughout the region.

Hayden Panettiere’s Nashville costar feels shatt…

Hayden Panettiere’s sudden death at just 36 has left her former Nashville castmates and fans struggling to process the heartbreaking loss. Among those mourning is Sylvia Jefferies, who played Panettiere’s on-screen mother, Jolene Barnes, on the popular country music drama. Panettiere died on August 16, 2026, in Greenville, South Carolina. Her representative confirmed the actress’s death, while authorities said she was found in cardiac arrest. An investigation into the exact cause of death remains ongoing.  For Jefferies, the loss has been particularly painful because her connection with Panettiere extended beyond their scenes together. The actress recently shared an emotional tribute, remembering her former co-star as someone she cared deeply about. Jefferies described Panettiere’s passing as devastating and reflected on the struggles the actress had faced throughout her life. She also remembered the special bond they developed while working together on Nashville, where their characters shared a complicated mother-and-daughter relationship. The tribute came as the Nashville family gathered online and in public statements to remember Panettiere. Her former co-stars have described her as talented, energetic, kind and unforgettable. Connie Britton, who played Rayna Jaymes, also expressed her heartbreak following the news, while other cast members shared their own memories of the actress.  Panettiere became a major part of Nashville through her role as Juliette Barnes, a gifted country singer whose personal struggles often mirrored some of the challenges Panettiere experienced away from the screen. Her performance earned her two Golden Globe nominations and made her one of the show’s most recognizable stars.  Beyond Nashville, Panettiere was widely known for playing Claire Bennet on Heroes and Kirby Reed in the Scream franchise. She began acting as a child and built a career that included television, film and music. Her final years were marked by difficult personal struggles, which she discussed openly in her memoir. Those who knew her have emphasized that her difficulties were only one part of her story and that she was also a loving, talented and determined person. Jefferies’ emotional tribute is a reminder of the impact Panettiere had on people around her. While audiences will remember Juliette Barnes, Claire Bennet and the many other characters she brought to life, her former colleagues remember the woman behind those roles. At only 36, Panettiere’s death has brought renewed attention to a career that began in childhood and ended far too soon. Her Nashville family is now left with memories of the actress who brought passion, vulnerability and unforgettable energy to the series.

Iran sent IRGC commanders to aid Houthis: report

Iran is alleged to have flown senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commanders, military advisers and missile- and drone-related equipment to Yemen earlier this month in a move that could significantly strengthen the military capabilities of the Houthi movement, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter. The reported transfer is believed to have taken place on July 13 aboard a Mahan Air flight that departed from Tehran. Sources said the aircraft was originally scheduled to land in the Houthi-controlled capital, Sanaa, but was forced to divert to the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah after military activity disrupted operations at Sanaa International Airport. According to the sources, between 10 and 21 IRGC personnel, including senior commanders, were on board the aircraft. They claimed the mission included military advisers tasked with providing operational support and training on advanced missile systems. The flight was also reportedly carrying missile components, drone-related equipment and gold, which the sources alleged was intended to finance Houthi military operations. The reported shipment has raised fresh concerns that Tehran may be expanding its military support for the group amid growing regional tensions. Officials from Yemen’s internationally recognised government said intelligence indicated that Iranian military experts had arrived to strengthen Houthi capabilities. They claimed the advisers were expected to improve the group’s ability to launch attacks against international shipping in the Red Sea and the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait, one of the world’s busiest maritime trade routes. Regional security analysts also supported the claims, saying the shipment allegedly included components for short- and medium-range missiles as well as drone systems similar to those previously used in attacks across the Gulf region. The reported deployment came only days before the Houthis announced a naval blockade targeting Saudi Arabia. The group later claimed responsibility for attacks on Saudi oil tankers operating in the Red Sea, further escalating tensions and increasing fears over global energy supplies and maritime security. Despite the allegations, both Iran and the Houthi movement strongly denied the reports. A Houthi media official who said he was among the passengers on the flight insisted that everyone on board was a civilian and rejected claims that military personnel or weapons had been transported. Iran has also repeatedly denied supplying advanced weapons to the Houthis or directing their military operations. Iranian officials maintain that the Yemeni group independently develops its own military capabilities and makes its own operational decisions. According to Iranian officials, the July 13 flight was organised to return a Houthi delegation and Yemeni civilians who had travelled to Tehran earlier in the month. They said the passengers included people who had attended a funeral ceremony as well as Yemenis who had received medical treatment in Iran. The allegations have emerged at a time of heightened confrontation across the Middle East, where attacks involving the United States, Iran, Israel and Iran-backed groups have intensified. Growing instability has already disrupted commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, contributing to rising oil prices and increasing uncertainty in global financial markets.

Ali Gul Pir pushes back against parenting advice

Comedian Ali Gul Pir has spoken about the unsolicited advice new parents often receive in Pakistani society, using his trademark humour to challenge some of the common warnings directed at mothers and fathers. Gul Pir recently became a father to a baby boy, Salar, with his wife, Dr Azeemah Nakhoda. He used a social media reel to share his thoughts on the comments and expectations that often surround first-time parents. One of the first issues he addressed was the common warning that having a baby means saying goodbye to a good night’s sleep forever. Gul Pir questioned the idea, saying babies eventually settle into routines and begin sleeping for longer periods. He also rejected the belief that becoming parents means their personal lives are effectively over. According to the comedian, every family has a different experience and the difficulties faced by one set of parents should not automatically be presented as the future of every new parent. Gul Pir also spoke about another common belief — that children and pets should not live together. As a dog owner, he disagreed with the idea and referred to research suggesting that children who grow up around pets may develop fewer allergies and greater compassion. The comedian then turned his attention to questions about having a second child. He joked that people who constantly ask about expanding their family should not expect to receive personal updates. His response also highlighted how intrusive questions can become overwhelming for new parents. Gul Pir suggested that couples should be allowed to make decisions about their families without constant outside commentary. He also criticised people who comment on women’s bodies shortly after childbirth. Gul Pir questioned why women are often expected to quickly return to their pre-pregnancy appearance. His broader message was about the pressure Pakistani society can place on people whenever they enter a major new phase of life. Gul Pir said big life changes naturally involve sacrifices. However, he argued that people should focus on the positive experiences that come with those changes instead of constantly warning others about what they might lose. The comedian welcomed his first child, Salar, last month. He publicly announced the arrival of his son on Father’s Day by sharing family photographs and pictures of the gifts he received for the occasion.

Balochistan suspends nitrogen fertilizer movement …

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has imposed a ban on the transportation of nitrogen-based fertilizers across the province for 15 days over concerns that such materials could be misused for sabotage and terrorist activities. According to an official notification issued by the Directorate General of Agriculture Balochistan, the decision was taken in view of the prevailing law and order situation and to ensure the safety of lives and property across the province. The order states that the sale, purchase, supply and distribution of nitrogen-based fertilizers have been suspended with immediate effect. Authorities said the restriction aims to prevent the possible use of these fertilizers in the manufacture of explosive materials and other unlawful activities. The banned products include urea, calcium ammonium nitrate, ammonium nitrate and potassium nitrate. Officials said the restrictions will remain in force until further orders. The notification also directs all dealers, distributors and suppliers to maintain a complete record and inventory of their existing fertilizer stocks. Authorities warned that compliance with the order would be closely monitored and that legal action could be taken against those found violating the restrictions. The provincial government said the temporary measure is part of broader efforts to strengthen security and prevent the misuse of materials that could pose a threat to public safety.
