‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’ sequel confirmed

LOS ANGELES: Fans of the popular romantic comedy How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days have reason to celebrate as a sequel to the 2003 film is officially moving forward, more than two decades after the original became a rom-com favourite.

The upcoming project is being developed by Paramount Pictures, with actress Kate Hudson, who played the lead character in the original movie, attached as a producer.

Details about the sequel are currently being kept under wraps. The storyline has not been revealed, and no official cast announcement has been made so far.

However, there is growing speculation that Hudson and Matthew McConaughey could return to their famous roles as Andie Anderson and Benjamin Berry. Neither actor has officially confirmed a return at this stage.

The original film centred on Andie Anderson, a journalist working for Composure magazine. She takes on an unusual assignment to write an article explaining how a woman could make a man end a relationship within 10 days.

Her target is Benjamin Berry, an advertising executive who becomes involved with her without knowing the real reason behind her behaviour.

Benjamin, meanwhile, has his own secret challenge. He makes a bet that he can make Andie fall in love with him within the same period.

Their competing plans lead to a series of misunderstandings, romantic moments and comedic situations. The film eventually turns into a genuine love story despite both characters initially having hidden motives.

McConaughey’s casting was reportedly not straightforward. Hudson previously revealed that the studio did not initially consider him the obvious choice for the male lead.

She said she pushed for McConaughey because she believed the two actors had the right chemistry for the film.

Hudson later explained that she wanted to work with him because they had a competitive energy and could challenge each other on screen. She credited his commitment and focused approach to acting as important factors behind their successful pairing.

Her decision proved successful. The chemistry between Hudson and McConaughey became one of the film’s biggest attractions and helped turn the movie into one of the better-known romantic comedies of the early 2000s.

McConaughey has also spoken positively about the film years after its release. He has described it as one of his favourite romantic comedies and said its popularity has continued to benefit him financially.

The actor previously joked that the movie remains his biggest source of so-called “mailbox money”, referring to the continuing income he receives from its popularity and repeated screenings.

Directed by Donald Petrie, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days was a commercial success when it reached cinemas in 2003.

The film was made on a reported budget of around $50 million and earned nearly $180 million worldwide.

Over the years, the movie has developed a strong following and become a staple of the romantic-comedy genre.

The announcement of a sequel has therefore generated considerable interest among fans who have long wanted to see what happened to Andie and Benjamin after the events of the original film.

For now, Paramount has not disclosed the sequel’s release date, storyline or confirmed cast. Any return by Hudson and McConaughey will depend on official confirmation from the studio and the actors

BTS RM reveals secret behind his success

BTS leader RM has shared an emotional story about his family, revealing how his parents played different but equally important roles in shaping his life and career. Speaking during a recent interview, the South Korean rapper said his father’s unrealized dream became one of the biggest reasons he received unwavering support to pursue music. RM, whose real name is Kim Nam-joon, explained that his father had once hoped to become a cartoon artist. However, financial hardships prevented him from following that dream, forcing him to choose a more practical path in life. The BTS star said his father understood the pain of giving up a lifelong passion. Because of that experience, he never discouraged RM from pursuing music and instead encouraged him to follow his ambitions. According to RM, his father’s own sacrifices inspired him to chase his dreams without fear. He believes his father wanted him to have the opportunity that he never received. While his father motivated him to dream big, RM said his mother offered a different kind of support by helping him stay grounded and make careful decisions. He shared that his mother always encouraged him to remain practical, avoid unnecessary risks and value stability even while pursuing success. Reflecting on his upbringing, RM said he learned to balance ambition with responsibility because of the different perspectives his parents offered. The 31-year-old artist compared himself to the pendulum of a clock, constantly moving between his father’s encouragement to take chances and his mother’s advice to stay cautious. He said the guidance he received from both parents helped shape his personality and career, allowing him to pursue his goals while remaining focused and balanced. RM also expressed gratitude to his parents, describing them as a major source of strength throughout his journey from an aspiring musician to one of the world’s most successful artists.

UEFA opposes FIFA’s $20bn commercial venture proposal

FIFA is facing growing criticism over its proposal to establish a new commercial subsidiary valued at $20 billion, a move that would oversee the commercial and operational management of the FIFA World Cup and other major international tournaments. The governing body plans to launch the new entity under the name FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE). According to the proposal, the company would be responsible for handling commercial rights, sponsorship operations, event management, and other business activities linked to FIFA’s flagship competitions. While FIFA intends to retain full control of the new company, it plans to sell up to 20 percent of its shares to outside investors. The sale is expected to raise approximately $4.2 billion, which FIFA says will be reinvested into the global development of football. The proposal has sparked strong opposition, particularly from the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), which argues that the plan risks turning the governance of football into a commercial asset. UEFA believes the sport’s core values should not be influenced by external investors, warning that football’s integrity and independence must remain protected. FIFA, however, insists that the new structure is designed to strengthen, rather than undermine, the global game. The organization says the funds generated through the partial sale of the company will support football development projects around the world, including investments in infrastructure, coaching programs, grassroots initiatives, women’s football, youth development, and financial assistance for member associations. FIFA President Gianni Infantino defended the proposal, saying the organization remains committed to ensuring equal opportunities for football development across all regions. He emphasized that any net profits generated through the new subsidiary would be reinvested directly into football rather than distributed elsewhere. Infantino also stressed that FIFA would continue to exercise full authority over football governance, competition regulations, the international match calendar, and the organization of its tournaments. According to FIFA, the creation of the subsidiary would not affect the governing body’s decision-making powers or its responsibility for managing the sport. Reports have suggested that the group of potential investors could be led by an investment platform associated with Joshua Kushner, although FIFA has not officially confirmed the identities of any future shareholders. The proposal has also drawn criticism from several political figures and football stakeholders, who argue that the FIFA World Cup is one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events and should not become part of a structure involving private investment. Critics believe that introducing outside shareholders, even without granting them control, could create commercial pressures that may influence the long-term direction of the sport. Despite the backlash, FIFA has made it clear that the proposal has not yet been finalized. Before any changes are implemented, the plan will be presented to FIFA’s Council and all 211 member associations for review and approval. The final decision will depend on whether FIFA’s members believe the new commercial structure can generate greater financial support for football while preserving the organization’s independence, governance, and commitment to the global growth of the game.

Johnny Depp may return as Captain Jack Sparrow

Johnny Depp fans may finally have a reason to hope for the return of one of cinema’s most recognizable characters. The actor could potentially reprise his beloved role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the sixth installment of the blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. The possibility of Depp’s comeback has gained attention after producer Jerry Bruckheimer discussed the future of the long-running series. During an appearance at D23, the official fan club event for The Walt Disney Company, Bruckheimer revealed that discussions with Depp are taking place while work continues on a screenplay for the upcoming film. “We’re talking with Johnny, we’re working on a screenplay, and hopefully we can get this done,” Bruckheimer said, fueling speculation that Depp could once again step into the role that made Captain Jack Sparrow a global pop culture icon. Although no official casting announcement has been made, reports indicate that the sixth movie could take a different approach from its predecessors. The project is reportedly being developed with Margot Robbie’s character at the center of the story, while Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow could appear in a supporting capacity. Such a direction would allow the franchise to introduce a fresh storyline while maintaining a connection to the original movies. Depp’s potential appearance could also provide a link between the new chapter and the earlier films that helped turn Pirates of the Caribbean into one of Hollywood’s most successful adventure franchises. The decision to refresh the series may have been influenced by the performance of the most recent installment, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which was released in 2017. The movie earned approximately $795.9 million worldwide, making it the lowest-grossing film in the franchise despite its strong global box office performance. For now, however, fans will have to wait for confirmation regarding Depp’s involvement. The sixth Pirates of the Caribbean movie remains in development, and there is currently no confirmed release date. Meanwhile, Depp has several other projects on the horizon. He is set to star in the dark fantasy film Ebenezer, portraying the classic character Ebenezer Scrooge. The movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 13, 2026. The actor is also expected to appear in the action thriller Day Drinker, alongside Madelyn Cline and Penélope Cruz. The film is currently scheduled for release on March 26, 2027. If Depp ultimately returns as Captain Jack Sparrow, his appearance could become one of the most anticipated moments in the franchise’s history. While negotiations and development are still underway, the possibility of seeing the iconic pirate back on screen has already generated excitement among longtime fans.
