Thai PM Anutin to Trump: ‘We Are Defending Our People from Cambodian Attacks’

BANGKOK – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul stated that he informed United States President Donald Trump during a phone call on Friday night that Thailand’s military actions are purely defensive, taken in response to Cambodian attacks that have killed Thai citizens and damaged property. The Prime Minister emphasized that Cambodia had violated the peace declaration between the two nations.

Cambodia Accused of Using Civilian Cover to Resume Rocket Attacks on Thailand

“I must explain this to President Trump. Otherwise, he would have misunderstood that we attacked Cambodia. That is not true. We responded,” Anutin said. “Sometimes responses must be made so that they will hear and realise that they cannot do this to us. We are not a country where you can do whatever you want.”

According to Anutin, President Trump urged Thailand to cease fire. In return, the Thai Prime Minister asked the U.S. leader to deliver a message to Cambodia, demanding that it publicly commit to a ceasefire, withdraw its forces, and remove all recently laid landmines. Anutin cited ASEAN observers who confirmed Cambodia had laid new mines, injuring Thai soldiers.

“This is clear enough that Cambodia breaches the agreement. The party that violates the agreement must solve it. It is not right that the attacked party must solve it. This is an international principle that everyone must understand,” Anutin stated, adding he told President Trump he could not tolerate attacks on innocent Thais.

Artillery and Airstrikes Claim Civilian Lives on Thai-Cambodian Border

In a separate economic note, Anutin said President Trump promised more favorable tariff policies for Thailand than for other countries, acknowledging he had been “too busy” to follow through on the pledge earlier.

Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hadid spark wedding buzz a…

Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hadid have become the center of intense wedding speculation after the couple was photographed in Paris wearing matching gold bands on their ring fingers. The new photos quickly sent social media into a frenzy, with many fans wondering whether the Hollywood actor and the supermodel had secretly tied the knot during a private ceremony in Europe. However, despite the growing rumors, neither Cooper nor Hadid has publicly confirmed that they are married.  The couple was spotted enjoying a relaxed outing in Paris, where photographers captured them wearing coordinating gold rings while spending time together. Their matching jewelry immediately caught the attention of fans, who interpreted the bands as possible wedding rings. The appearance has fueled widespread speculation, although representatives for the couple have remained silent on the rumors.  According to People, the rings have been identified as wedding bands from the French luxury jewelry house Boucheron. Hadid was seen wearing the Quatre Radiant Edition Wedding Band, while Cooper wore the Godron Pink Gold Wedding Band. Although the designs are traditionally marketed as wedding rings, wearing them does not necessarily confirm that the pair have exchanged vows.  Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hadid first sparked romance rumors in October 2023. Since then, the two have gradually become more comfortable sharing glimpses of their relationship in public. Over the past three years, they have attended major events together, traveled across Europe, and supported each other’s careers while largely keeping their romance out of the spotlight.  The latest Paris appearance has only intensified interest in the couple’s relationship. Fashion observers also noted how coordinated their outfits looked throughout the trip, further highlighting how their personal styles have evolved together. While the matching rings became the biggest talking point, many fans also praised the pair’s effortless chemistry during their outings around the French capital.  Despite the excitement, there is currently no official confirmation that Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hadid have secretly married. Most reports describe the situation as speculation based on the rings and the couple’s recent appearance. Until either star addresses the rumors publicly, the reports of a private European wedding remain unverified.  Whether the rings symbolize marriage, an engagement, or simply a meaningful commitment, one thing is clear: Cooper and Hadid continue to attract attention wherever they go. Their relationship has steadily grown stronger while remaining relatively private, a rarity in Hollywood. For now, fans will have to wait for an official statement. Until then, the mystery surrounding the matching gold bands is likely to keep wedding rumors alive, making Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hadid one of the entertainment world’s most talked-about couples.

Rawalakot election possible on August 20 or 21 if …

Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Chief Election Commissioner Ghulam Mustafa Mughal has said that elections in Rawalakot could be held on August 20 or 21 if the ongoing protest is resolved within the next three to four days. Speaking to the media in Muzaffarabad, Mughal said polling in Bagh and Haveli was scheduled to take place first due to security concerns. He said security personnel had already arrived in the two districts, while polling material was being transported under the supervision of the military. He added that eight security personnel would be deployed at each highly sensitive polling station to ensure the safety of voters and election staff. The chief election commissioner said efforts were also under way to restore internet services in Bagh and Haveli on August 9 and 10. Mughal said the Election Commission expected to be in a position to announce the polling date for Rawalakot within the next seven days. However, the final schedule would depend on the resolution of the ongoing protest. “If the protest is resolved within three or four days, elections in Rawalakot can be held on August 20 or 21,” he said. Responding to allegations made by political leaders, Mughal said the Election Commission could not engage in a war of words with politicians. He said the commission would provide the facts once the electoral process had been completed and would determine whether any irregularities had occurred and who was responsible.

ATC extends Mushtaq Ahmad’s remand by four d…

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has extended the physical remand of former Jamaat-e-Islami senator Mushtaq Ahmad and his co-accused, Daniyal, by four more days in connection with a case linked to a protest over the situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). The two accused were produced before the court after completing an earlier three-day physical remand. During the hearing, the prosecution sought a 30-day remand, arguing that investigators still needed additional time to recover a vehicle and weapons allegedly connected to the case. According to prosecutors, the investigation remains incomplete because the alleged recoveries have not yet been made. They requested extended custody to continue the inquiry. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court rejected the request for a 30-day remand and instead approved a four-day extension in police custody. The case was registered at Islamabad’s Shalimar Police Station under charges related to a protest concerning recent unrest in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Mushtaq Ahmad’s legal team has previously claimed that he was detained after attempting to enter AJK to express solidarity with people affected by recent violence in the region. They alleged he was stopped by security personnel at Azad Pattan Bridge, denied entry into AJK and later taken into custody by Punjab Police while returning to Islamabad. Following his release from the earlier detention, Mushtaq Ahmad announced plans to organise a peaceful gathering in Islamabad to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir. He invited political activists, students, journalists and members of the Kashmiri community to participate in the event. The case comes amid heightened political tensions following recent protests in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, where clashes reportedly resulted in casualties and injuries, drawing criticism from several political parties and human rights groups.
