The announcement comes amid heightened scrutiny following the Thai military’s capture of a significant cache of sophisticated guided anti-tank missiles from the Chong Anh Ma area in Ubon Ratchathani province, Thai PBS reported.

Colonel Richa Suksuvanon, deputy spokesperson for the Royal Thai Army, confirmed that the seized weapons, which include advanced guided missiles, are now securely held by the Thai army and will not be transferred to any other party.

In a related development, Air Chief Marshal Chakkrit Thammavichai, spokesman for the Royal Thai Air Force, observed that the intensity of artillery and rocket barrages from Cambodian troops has diminished, likely due to ammunition shortages after Thai bombardments and airstrikes destroyed substantial stockpiles. He added that Thai operations have successfully disrupted Cambodian supply routes, severely hampering the delivery of military supplies to front-line positions.

Separately, a Royal Thai Navy assistant spokesperson reported the detention of a suspected Cambodian spy in Trat province, who is presently under interrogation.

The Second Army Region noted signs that Cambodian forces are withdrawing from several front lines, including positions in Chong Anh Ma, Chong Chom, Chong Rayee, Plod Dang, and Prasart Ta Muen Thom in Surin province.

The weapons seized from Mount 500 include an 82mm projectile-grenade round for Chinese-made recoilless grenade launchers and the Norinco PF-89, a lightweight, disposable 80mm anti-tank rocket launcher manufactured in China. The PF-89 system, effective against light armor and bunkers, underscores the advanced nature of the captured matériel, though the Thai army maintains there is no conclusive proof linking recent Chinese involvement to its presence on the battlefield.

The bureau said more than 24,365 victims received compensation through the return of recovered money and assets worth Rs42.303 billion.     WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has lashed out at Canada after Prime Minister Mark Carney announced retaliatory tariffs on American goods, deepening a trade dispute that threatens to further strain economic ties between the two neighbouring countries. The Canadian prime minister described the situation in unusually forceful terms, saying the country had effectively been “attacked” and was responding accordingly. A senior US official described the latest talks as candid but not acrimonious, suggesting that despite the increasingly hostile public statements, both sides had maintained communication during negotiations. The economic stakes are significant. The United States and Canada share one of the world’s largest trading relationships, with businesses and consumers on both sides relying heavily on cross-border commerce. The latest tariffs could therefore raise costs for companies, disrupt supply chains and put additional pressure on industries already facing uncertainty.     Tirah families to begin phased return from October…

    A high-level jirga comprising senior military and civil officials and members of a 24-member advisory committee has agreed to begin the phased return of displaced families to Tirah Valley from October 10. However, the Tehreek Mutasireen Tirah has raised concerns over the lack of an official government notification and called for an immediate formal announcement. Sources said the jirga included elders from the 24-member committee, senior military officials, district administration representatives and officials from relevant departments. The participants agreed that authorities would fully stabilise the security situation in Tirah before allowing families to return. They also pledged to implement all 37 demands presented by the committee. Development projects already underway in the valley will continue, while officials assured the committee that the concerns of verified affectees would receive priority attention. Several issues raised during the meeting were reportedly resolved on the spot. Meanwhile, the registration and verification of Tirah affectees listed with the GRC continues at a NADRA centre in Haji Market, Bara. Authorities are issuing SIM cards to verified eligible individuals and distributing financial assistance. More than 20,000 affectees have received financial aid so far, while payments to other eligible families remain in process. Lists containing more than 4,000 affectees have been issued at Haji Market, with nearly 3,000 already verified. Sohbat Khan Afridi, spokesperson for Tehreek Mutasireen Tirah, told *The Express Tribune* that displaced families have been staging a sit-in outside Bara Press Club for the past 170 days. He said that although members of the 24-member committee have mentioned October 10 as the return date, the government and jirga have yet to issue an official notification, leaving affected families uncertain about their future.

Health officials have urged parents to ensure their children are vaccinated against measles, mumps, and rubella, emphasizing that the MMR vaccine is safe and highly effective. The CDC has recommended that children receive two doses of the MMR vaccine, with the first dose administered between 12 and 15 months of age and the second dose between 4 and 6 years of age. Vaccination rates have declined in some states, leading to pockets of vulnerability where outbreaks can take hold. The rise in measles cases has prompted public health campaigns to increase vaccination coverage and address misinformation.
