Woman from Khon Kaen Critically Injured after Falling from Khao Phra Yai Viewpoint in Pattaya
PATTAYA, Thailand — A 25-year-old woman from Khon Kaen province was seriously injured after falling approximately 10 meters from a viewpoint at Khao Phra Yai in Pattaya on Sunday afternoon.
At 2:06 p.m. on July 26th, 2026, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya Rescue Center received a report of a person who had fallen from a height and sustained critical injuries. The incident occurred at Khao Phra Yai. Rescue volunteers responded immediately.
At the scene near the Khao Phra Yai viewpoint, onlookers gathered as rescuers found Miss N, 25, of Khon Kaen, lying below the overlook. She had suffered a head laceration, injuries to her right arm, and a deformed fracture of her left leg. Emergency responders provided initial first aid before rushing her to hospital.
Witness Miss Wasulita Sombunpakorn, 34, who was visiting the site with her family, said she saw the woman standing at the edge of the viewing platform, climb over the protective railing, and then drop to the ground below. Sombunpakorn quickly covered her young child’s eyes to shield the child from the scene.
Another witness reported seeing the same woman earlier that morning sitting and staring blankly, appearing lost in thought, before lying down. When the fall occurred later, the witness recognized her and alerted authorities.
The cause of the incident remains unknown. Officials preliminarily believe it may have been self-inflicted, but they said a definitive account will only be possible once the injured woman has recovered sufficiently to be interviewed.
