Air ambulance vs bicycle ambulance: Bukhari’s di…

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has rejected allegations of electoral rigging raised by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) following the first phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections.

Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Bukhari said the people of Kashmir had made their decision through their votes. She claimed that voters had preferred the performance of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Bukhari said the election results reflected the choice of the people. She dismissed the PPP’s allegations and defended the performance of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

The provincial minister also criticised PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. She said political pressure appeared to be increasing within a particular party. She further claimed that Bilawal had attempted to imitate another political leader during his election speech.

Bukhari also criticised the PPP’s performance in Sindh. She said the party often used the name of Raiwind to target the PML-N and its leadership.

She challenged the PPP to present its performance record from the past 18 years. She also questioned the condition of Karachi, Sindh’s largest city.

Bukhari said voters should compare the performance of Punjab under Maryam Nawaz with the situation in Sindh under the PPP.

“Look at Maryam’s Punjab and Bilawal’s Sindh,” she said while comparing the two provinces.

The minister argued that a government unable to improve roads in its own areas could not claim that it would transform roads in Kashmir.

She also highlighted differences in public services between Punjab and Sindh. Bukhari said Punjab had introduced air ambulance services to provide emergency medical assistance.

She claimed that Sindh, by comparison, had introduced a bicycle ambulance service. She used the comparison to criticise the PPP’s governance record and defend the PML-N’s performance in Punjab.

Bukhari also discussed the education initiatives introduced by the Punjab government. She said Maryam Nawaz believed that every child should have access to educational opportunities.

According to Bukhari, students should be able to receive laptops and scholarships regardless of their background. She said such programmes were aimed at supporting young people and helping them continue their education.

The minister contrasted these initiatives with the situation in Sindh. She claimed that students in the province were protesting to demand better educational facilities and opportunities.

Bukhari’s remarks came after the PPP questioned the credibility of the first phase of the AJK elections and alleged irregularities.

The first phase covered 13 constituencies in the Mirpur division. The PML-N emerged as the leading party, winning nine seats. The PPP secured four seats.

The election results have triggered a political dispute between the two parties. The PML-N has defended its victory and rejected claims that the results were manipulated.

Bukhari’s latest comments further intensified the political exchange. She presented the results as an endorsement of the PML-N’s performance and Maryam Nawaz’s governance model.

The remaining phases of the AJK elections are expected to keep the political competition intense. Both parties are likely to continue highlighting their respective performance records as campaigning moves forward.

Come to streets, we’ll serve you water’: Nasir

Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has responded strongly to recent statements by MQM-P leaders Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Mustafa Kamal. The remarks have sparked a fresh political exchange between the Sindh government and the MQM-P leadership. Shah reacted to the MQM-P leaders’ calls for political mobilisation and protests. He said they were free to take to the streets if they wanted to. In a sarcastic remark, he said the weather was hot and that “water would be provided” to them. The minister also questioned MQM-P’s demand for an account of the past 18 years. He asked the party leaders to explain how much accountability they had themselves provided during their political tenure. Shah also rejected suggestions about changing the existing structure of Sindh. He said the constitutional and geographical status of the province could not be changed according to the wishes of an individual political leader. He also criticised Mustafa Kamal’s remarks about the creation of new provinces. Shah said the country was already facing difficulties in managing its existing four provinces. He questioned why there was now a demand for additional provinces. The minister accused the MQM-P of turning towards public issues as elections approach. He said the party had previously enjoyed the benefits of political power but was now raising issues concerning the people. Shah’s comments came after Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui accused the Pakistan Peoples Party of creating an ethnic and linguistic divide in Sindh. Siddiqui had also demanded an accurate population count and stronger local governments. MQM-P leader Mustafa Kamal had separately said that the party would take to the streets to demand its rights. The statements have increased political tension between the MQM-P and the Sindh government. Sindh Culture Minister Zulfiqar Shah also criticised the MQM-P leadership. He said Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui was struggling to protect his position as party chairman. Zulfiqar Shah described the differences between Khalid Maqbool and Mustafa Kamal as the result of what he called divisive politics. He said the MQM-P leadership should first resolve its own differences. He also questioned the competing positions within the party. According to Zulfiqar Shah, the divided leadership should first decide whose statements should be taken seriously. The latest exchange comes amid renewed political debate over Sindh’s governance, representation and local government system. MQM-P has been demanding greater authority for local governments and an accurate population census. The party has also raised concerns about political representation and resource distribution in Sindh. The Sindh government, however, has rejected calls that could affect the province’s existing constitutional and geographical structure.

Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau plan to marry in California

Fresh reports suggest that American pop star Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau may be preparing to take the next step in their relationship, with claims that the pair are discussing marriage and future plans together. According to recent reports circulating online, the couple is said to be considering a wedding ceremony in California and reportedly hopes that California Governor Gavin Newsom will officiate the event. The reports claim that Newsom is their preferred choice because of his close relationship with both Perry and Trudeau. Sources quoted in the reports allege that the governor shares a strong friendship with the two public figures. It is claimed that Newsom views Trudeau as a political ally with similar values, while also considering Perry an influential public figure with significant cultural impact. The reports further claim that Perry and Trudeau have been spending much of their time together at the singer’s home in Southern California. The couple is also reportedly planning to continue living in California after getting married, although neither has publicly commented on the speculation. The rumored wedding plans have also sparked political discussion. According to the reports, if Gavin Newsom decides to enter a future US presidential race, he could receive public support from both Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau. Observers quoted in the reports suggest that such an alliance could benefit all three personalities by increasing their public visibility and influence. Despite the growing speculation, none of the individuals involved has officially confirmed the claims. There has been no public statement from Perry, Trudeau, or Newsom regarding the reported wedding plans or their future together. Justin Trudeau was married to Sophie Grégoire in 2005. After nearly two decades together, the couple announced their separation in 2023. They share three children and have stated that they remain committed to co-parenting their family despite ending their marriage. Katy Perry, meanwhile, married comedian Russell Brand in 2010. Their marriage ended in 2012. In later years, Perry was in a long-term relationship with actor Orlando Bloom. The former couple shares a daughter named Daisy, and both have continued to focus on co-parenting following reports of their separation. The latest reports have generated widespread discussion across social media, with fans expressing both excitement and skepticism. While some believe the relationship has become serious enough to lead to marriage, others have urged caution, pointing out that the claims remain unverified. Until an official announcement is made by Katy Perry or Justin Trudeau, the reported wedding plans should be treated as speculation. As interest in the pair continues to grow, many will be watching closely to see whether the rumored California wedding eventually becomes a reality or remains another celebrity rumor.

Jibran Nasir says No hope from Sindh government in…

Jibran Nasir, lawyer for Raza Mir, the father of young businessman Mir Raza who was found dead in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Johar area, has said that he has no expectations from the Sindh government led by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), urging police officials to perform their duties and calling on the provincial government not to adopt a “double policy” in the case. Speaking to the media after the first meeting of the investigation committee formed to probe Mir Raza’s death, Nasir said the family had made a mistake by identifying an honest police officer who had tried to bring facts to light. “We made the mistake of finding an honest officer,” Nasir said, referring to an officer who had written a letter to the authorities on August 3, informing them about alleged mistakes made by officials working under him. The lawyer alleged that those attempting to bring the facts of the Mir Raza case before the public were being targeted. He said the medical board had been constituted on the orders of the court and criticised what he described as unfair criticism of officials who had performed their duties during the past 11 days. Nasir also defended Dr Samia, saying that targeting her with criticism was unjustified. He maintained that the Sindh government had corrected its earlier mistakes and had moved the investigation in the right direction. According to the lawyer, certain individuals had attempted to quickly portray the case as suicide. He said the government itself had not failed, but rather those who had adopted an incorrect position regarding the case had been proven wrong. Nasir said that after new facts emerged, evidence indicating that Mir Raza had been murdered was acknowledged. He added that those who had initially insisted that the death was a suicide had been proven wrong and that officers who helped move the investigation in the correct direction should be encouraged. Speaking on the occasion, Mir Raza’s father said that if these steps had been taken earlier, there would have been no need for the exhumation of his son’s body. He said the family had provided investigators with all the information they had and only wanted justice for their son. Earlier, Jibran Nasir had written to the Sindh government, stating that Mir Raza’s parents did not want a judicial inquiry. He said the family had complete confidence in the judiciary but believed that the government wanted to make the case controversial under the name of a judicial commission. He also maintained that, under the law, the police had the authority to conduct the investigation. Later, Sindh Home Minister Zia Lanjar said that the decision to establish a judicial commission had been postponed for the time being following a request from Mir Raza’s parents. Mir Raza’s body was recovered from Gulistan-e-Johar on July 29. Following the exhumation of his body, a second post-mortem examination was conducted on August 8. The examination reportedly revealed traces of acid in Mir Raza’s stomach. His lungs were also found to have been severely affected by acid, while signs of acid exposure were reportedly detected on his shirt, hands and feet. Police have sealed a guesthouse near the location where Mir Raza’s body was recovered. Six people working at the guesthouse have reportedly been taken into custody. So far, 21 people, including Mir Raza’s friends and business partners, have been detained for questioning, and their statements have been recorded. Meanwhile, a five-member investigation committee headed by DIG Crime Branch Amir Farooqi held a meeting to review the case. Authorities said Section 201 of the Pakistan Penal Code has also been added to the case, in addition to Sections 365 and 302. Section 201 relates to causing evidence of an offence to disappear or giving false information with the intention of screening an offender. The investigation is continuing as authorities examine the emerging evidence and statements from people connected to the case.

Sahibzada Farhan overtakes Abhishek Sharma to claim no. 2 in ICC T20I rankings

Pakistan’s opening batter Sahibzada Farhan has moved up to second place in the newest ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings, released on Wednesday. He has pushed past India’s Abhishek Sharma in the process. Farhan, who is 30 years old, now holds 848 rating points. That puts him just ahead of Abhishek, who slipped down to third place with 819 points. Abhishek’s drop followed a difficult stretch of form. He struggled during recent tours to Ireland, England, and Zimbabwe, and those low scores clearly took a toll on his ranking. At the very top, India’s Ishan Kishan remains untouched. He continues to hold the No. 1 spot with 910 rating points. Outside of the shakeup between Farhan and Abhishek, the rest of the top five batters stayed largely the same, with no major shifts to report. A little further down the list, India’s Tilak Varma made progress too, climbing two places to sit sixth overall. Meanwhile, England saw a small dip, as both Harry Brook and Jos Buttler each fell one spot. South Africa’s Dewald Brevis had reason to celebrate, breaking into the top 10 for the first time after advancing one position to land at 10th. Perhaps the most eye-catching move, though, belongs to a teenager. Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi jumped an astonishing 230 places, landing at 48th with 536 points. That leap comes right after he was named player of the series during Zimbabwe’s tour, a clear sign of his rapid rise in the format. Turning to the bowlers, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan remains comfortably at the top of the T20I bowling charts. Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed continues to hold second place, sitting on 736 points, while England’s Adil Rashid rounds out the top three. Further down the bowling table, Mohammad Nawaz stayed steady at 10th with 658 points. Fast bowler Salman Mirza also made a small gain, moving up one place to 15th. Not everyone rose, though. India’s Varun Chakaravarthy dropped three spots and fell out of the top 10 entirely. On the flip side, Australia’s Nathan Ellis had a good update, climbing into the top five bowlers with 675 rating points to his name.
