Amazing Three Bays City festival gets underway in Prachuap

The Amazing Three Bays City festival got underway in Prachuap Khiri Khan on Friday evening, with officials launching the province’s flagship tourism event alongside the annual Red Cross Fair.

The opening ceremony took place on 24 April at King Rama IX Commemorative Public Park, where Prachuap Khiri Khan governor Sitthichai Sawat-saen presided over proceedings, joined by senior officials and invited guests.

A fireworks display at Saranwithi Bridge was among the main highlights of the opening night. More than 1,700 fireworks were set off during a show lasting over four minutes, drawing large crowds along the seafront.

Following the ceremony, officials took part in a traditional gold leaf application on an artwork depicting Phra Thinang Khuha Kharuehat, a symbol of the province. The evening programme also featured a light and sound performance based on the local folktale The Legend of Ta Mong Lai.

Activities and events across the festival

The Amazing Three Bays City festival, now in its 16th year, runs from 24 April to 4 May at King Rama IX Commemorative Public Park, along the Prachuap Bay seafront road and at Saranwithi Bridge.

Visitors can explore exhibitions from 20 government ministries under the theme “Next Move Prachuap”, alongside a contemporary art festival, beauty contest, Muay Thai competitions and a local singing contest.

A Night Run event, food festival and outdoor film screenings form part of the programme, with 10 films shown over 10 nights. Retro-themed photo spots have also been set up around the venue.

At the Red Cross fair, visitors can buy raffle tickets for prizes including three cars, while the popular “fish scoop” activity offers nightly draws for items such as motorcycles and electrical appliances.

The festival also features OTOP products, community goods, food and drink stalls, and nightly concerts from well-known Thai artists.
