The shipbreaking industry along Chittagong’s coast stretches for around 25 kilometres and provides employment to tens of thousands of people. Bangladesh is one of the world’s major shipbreaking centres, but the industry has repeatedly faced criticism over workplace safety, labour conditions and environmental risks. One of the workers killed in the accident was identified as Palash Jaladas. His family was left devastated by the tragedy, with relatives saying his wife, Bhoumika Jaladas, is eight months pregnant.

    SEOUL: A North Korean-linked hacking group has reportedly expanded its use of artificial intelligence to strengthen cyberattacks, automate operations and analyse stolen data. The group, identified as Kimsuky, has developed and collected a range of AI-related tools that could help its operators conduct attacks more efficiently, according to a South Korean cybersecurity company. The company said it discovered infrastructure linked to Kimsuky containing several programs designed to run and manage artificial intelligence models locally. These included Ollama, GPT4All and Msty. The hackers also appeared to be using retrieval-augmented generation technology. The system can help AI models search and process large collections of documents. Researchers said the use of locally operated AI models could allow the group to analyse sensitive information without sending data to external AI services. This could give hackers greater control over stolen material and reduce their reliance on third-party platforms. The investigation also uncovered AI agent development frameworks, speech-to-text software and an AI-assisted coding tool called Cursor. According to the cybersecurity firm, the findings indicate that Kimsuky may be moving beyond the simple use of generative AI for creating phishing messages. The group could now be seeking to integrate existing AI models into different stages of its cyber operations. These may include malware development, stolen-data analysis and attack automation. Researchers also identified documents related to finance and cryptocurrency on the infrastructure. Some of the files appeared to have been generated using artificial intelligence. The documents were designed to look like legitimate investment reports and other professional workplace material. Such files could potentially be used as decoys or to make malicious campaigns appear more credible. The findings have not been independently verified. However, cybersecurity researchers and government agencies have repeatedly linked North Korean state-backed groups to international cyber operations. North Korean cyber units have been accused of conducting espionage campaigns, stealing money and targeting cryptocurrency-related assets. Authorities in the United States and South Korea have previously warned about the activities of such groups. Kimsuky has long been associated with cyber-espionage operations targeting governments, organisations and individuals. Haider said, “I also have complaints against the show’s producer, Tahir Sarwat Mir, for allowing such obnoxious remarks to be aired about the person who treated him as his son.” He concluded his response by saying, “People may laugh at these comments, but everyone is condemning you. Who are you? ARY or Geo News?     LAHORE: Lahore Police have finalized an extensive security plan for the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and the annual Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA), deploying more than 12,000 officers and personnel across the provincial capital to ensure the safety of mourners and devotees. The arrangements were reviewed during a high-level meeting chaired by Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana at the Capital City Police Headquarters. Senior police officials briefed the meeting on operational strategies and deployment plans for the two major religious events. According to the security plan, police will provide protection for 73 majalis and 34 mourning processions being held across Lahore to mark the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS). Security measures have also been strengthened around the shrine of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA), where thousands of devotees are expected to participate in the annual Urs celebrations. CCPO Kamyana directed officers to implement strict security protocols at all entry and exit points, including the installation of walk-through gates, metal detectors, and barbed-wire barricades. He also instructed police personnel to maintain close coordination with procession organisers and the administration of Data Darbar to ensure smooth management of the events. He ordered supervisory officers to personally inspect security arrangements along procession routes, at imambargahs, and around the shrine, while emphasizing that all activities would be monitored in real time through the Punjab Safe Cities Authority surveillance network and central control rooms. The CCPO further instructed the traffic police to introduce a comprehensive traffic management plan with alternative routes to reduce inconvenience for commuters and facilitate the movement of mourners and visitors during the religious gatherings. The meeting was attended by senior police officers, including DIG (Administration) Imran Kishwar, Chief Traffic Officer Abdul Rahim Shirazi, SSP Investigation Muhammad Naveed, SP Security, and divisional SPs, who reviewed the operational readiness for the upcoming events.
