Man climbs electricity pole in Peshawar to steal P…

A man climbed an electricity pole in Peshawar in an alleged attempt to steal power cables, according to the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO). The unusual incident took place in the Shahibagh Sub-Division area, where electricity supply had already been suspended because maintenance work was underway. According to PESCO officials, the man climbed onto the pole while power was switched off in the area. The incident reportedly occurred during a period when electricity lines were not operational due to repair and maintenance work being carried out by the power distribution company. PESCO said that the man appeared to have taken advantage of the temporary suspension of electricity supply. He reportedly climbed the pole with the intention of removing electrical wires. The incident was noticed by people in the area, who alerted the relevant authorities. Officials reached the location and took action to prevent the situation from becoming more serious. The man was eventually brought down safely from the electricity pole. The incident occurred in the Shahibagh Sub-Division, an area served by PESCO as part of its electricity distribution network in Peshawar. Authorities said that the power supply had been deliberately shut down because repair work was being conducted on the network. The temporary power outage may have created an opportunity for the suspect to attempt the alleged theft. Electricity cables and other equipment belonging to power distribution companies are frequently targeted by thieves because the materials can be sold as scrap or for their metal value. However, climbing an electricity pole can be extremely dangerous even when the power supply has been switched off. Electrical systems can contain residual risks, and unexpected restoration of electricity can also create a serious threat to anyone working on or near power lines. PESCO officials did not immediately provide further details about whether the man had successfully removed any cables before being stopped. It was also not immediately clear whether a formal case had been registered against him or what legal action would be taken. The incident highlights the challenges faced by electricity distribution companies in protecting their infrastructure from theft and illegal interference. Power cables, transformers and other equipment are essential for maintaining electricity supplies, and their theft can cause additional outages and financial losses. Authorities regularly warn members of the public against approaching electricity poles, wires and other electrical equipment without proper training or authorisation. Such actions can result in serious injuries or even death. Residents in the area reportedly alerted officials after noticing the man on the pole. His safe removal prevented a potentially dangerous situation from escalating. PESCO has been carrying out maintenance and repair activities in different parts of its service area to improve the reliability of electricity supplies. Planned outages are sometimes necessary to allow technical teams to safely work on power lines and related infrastructure. Officials have advised consumers to cooperate with maintenance schedules and report suspicious activity involving electricity infrastructure to the relevant authorities. The Peshawar incident serves as a reminder that electricity infrastructure remains vulnerable to theft, particularly during planned outages. It also demonstrates the dangers associated with attempting to interfere with electrical equipment. While the man was successfully brought down from the pole, authorities are expected to investigate the incident further and determine whether he intended to steal cables and whether any electricity infrastructure was damaged during the attempt.

‘Frozen 3’ first look teases Anna’s wedding, Elsa’s new mystery

“Frozen 3” has already generated significant buzz following its first official preview. Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel unveiled a glimpse of the highly anticipated sequel on Friday, August 14. The reveal took place at Disney’s D23 event, held at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Fans reacted with immediate excitement as details of the new film began circulating online. The story is set to pick up directly from where the second film left off, following Anna and Elsa as their journey continues. As the sisters venture beyond Arendelle once again, they will face fresh mysteries and new challenges within the expanding magical world. Kristen Bell returns as Anna, while Idina Menzel reprises her role as Elsa. Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad are also back, voicing Kristoff and Olaf respectively. The first-look footage hinted at plenty of romance ahead, with Anna and Kristoff preparing for their wedding and honeymoon. Olaf, meanwhile, gets a lighthearted subplot of his own, introducing a new love interest named Samantha. Alongside the romantic moments, the preview featured new original music, a striking aurora sequence, and glimpses of the wedding celebration itself. But the biggest twist came when Elsa discovers a mysterious stone capable of opening a portal to an unknown, snow-covered dimension. Menzel described the new realm as far wilder and more dangerous than anything Elsa has ever created before. The footage closed with the arrival of a new, black-clad witch character, believed to be voiced by Greta Lee. The original “Frozen,” released in 2013, followed Anna’s journey alongside Kristoff and his reindeer Sven as they set out to find her sister Elsa. Elsa’s icy powers had trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter, driving the story’s central conflict. With romance, danger and a brand-new villain teased in the preview, anticipation for the threequel is already building. “Frozen 3” is currently scheduled for release on November 24, 2027, giving fans plenty of time to speculate about where the story goes next.

Nawaz Sharif looks beyond AJK: PML-N’s next poli…

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s victory in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections is more than another electoral success. It marks the return of Nawaz Sharif as the party’s undisputed political strategist and sends a clear message that his sights are now set far beyond AJK—towards the next general elections. For months, political observers questioned whether Nawaz Sharif would ever resume an active leadership role. His recent engagement has answered that question decisively. From personally chairing meetings in Murree with party ticket holders to spearheading the election campaign, Nawaz Sharif demonstrated that he remains the final authority within PML-N. The AJK result carries political significance because it is the first major electoral victory under his renewed leadership. It has strengthened his position within the party while boosting the morale of PML-N workers who have long awaited his full return to frontline politics. One defining feature of Nawaz Sharif’s political career has been his ability to think several moves ahead. Those who have closely followed his journey know he rarely makes impulsive decisions. Instead, he carefully plans, builds consensus and prepares the ground long before the political battle begins. Having observed Nawaz Sharif’s politics closely over the past two decades, including during his years in London, I have found that patience and long-term planning remain his greatest political strengths. Today, Nawaz Sharif is supported by two of the strongest pillars within the party. Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif continues to lead the federal government at a time when Pakistan has emerged from severe economic challenges. His government has worked to restore macroeconomic stability, rebuild investor confidence and improve Pakistan’s international standing. Equally important has been his unwavering loyalty to his elder brother. Throughout decades of political highs and lows, Shehbaz Sharif has stood firmly beside Nawaz Sharif, rejecting opportunities that could have divided the party and instead prioritising unity. Alongside him is Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who has evolved into the party’s most influential leader of the next generation. During PML-N’s years in opposition, she became the face of the party’s resistance, leading rallies, energising workers and keeping the party politically active during its most difficult period. Since assuming office, she has focused on governance, launching development and welfare initiatives that her supporters believe are reshaping Punjab. With Shehbaz Sharif managing the federation and Maryam Nawaz governing Punjab, Nawaz Sharif appears free to concentrate on what has always been his greatest strength—building the party organisation. His meetings with legislators, workers and local leaders suggest that organisational consolidation is now at the heart of his strategy. The AJK campaign may therefore be remembered as the beginning of a much larger political roadmap. Rather than waiting for the next general election to be announced, Nawaz Sharif appears to be rebuilding PML-N from the ground up, strengthening party structures, reconnecting with workers and preparing candidates well in advance. It is a strategy that has defined many of his previous political successes. Critics who predicted the end of Nawaz Sharif’s political career may need to revisit their assumptions. Pakistan’s political history has repeatedly shown that experienced leaders cannot be measured solely by temporary setbacks. Nawaz Sharif has returned before, and each comeback has reshaped the country’s political landscape. The message emerging after the AJK elections is unmistakable: Nawaz Sharif is looking beyond a single electoral victory. His focus is firmly fixed on preparing PML-N for the next national political contest. Whether one agrees with his politics or not, one reality is becoming increasingly clear: Nawaz Sharif is once again thinking several steps ahead. If history is any guide, that is when he has proved to be at his most politically effective.

Kendall Jenner joins Jacob Elordi for dreamy Hawaii getaway

Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi are once again enjoying a getaway away from the spotlight, this time at a remote beach in Hawaii. The pair have been travelling together throughout the summer. Taking to her Instagram Stories on Friday, August 14, Jenner shared a short video clip from what appeared to be Honopū Beach. The secluded spot sits along the rugged Nā Pali Coast of Kauaʻi. The captionless clip gave fans a glimpse of the pristine shoreline, framed beneath towering 1,200-foot basalt cliffs often referred to as the “Valley of the Lost Souls.” Interestingly, Jenner posted her video around the same time her sister, Kylie Jenner, shared her own photos from the same location. Kylie had recently celebrated her 29th birthday with a Princess Kitty-themed party, and her post seemed to hint at a joint getaway involving her boyfriend Timothée Chalamet, Kendall and Elordi. Popular gossip account Deuxmoi later added further detail, claiming Kendall and Elordi were spotted in Hawaii, with Elordi reportedly annoyed after someone tried photographing them. The account also suggested Kylie and Chalamet were seen at the same breakfast spot. The trip comes just days after Jenner shared a deeply personal literary post referencing a classic Frank O’Hara poem, dedicated to expressing love and longing. She shared it without further comment, leaving fans to interpret the sentiment behind the gesture. Jenner and Elordi first sparked dating rumours back in April, after being spotted together at Coachella 2026. Since then, the pair have been linked to several low-key getaways throughout the summer, fuelling ongoing speculation about the seriousness of their relationship. With both Kardashian-Jenner sisters seemingly vacationing at the same Hawaiian location alongside their respective partners, fans have been quick to piece together the overlapping timeline from social media clues. Neither Jenner nor Elordi has publicly confirmed additional details about the trip, keeping much of their relationship largely private despite the growing public interest.

Katy Perry, Justin Trudeau share pint in cozy summer snapshot

Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau were spotted sharing a casual pint together, appearing in high spirits as the former Canadian prime minister looked back on his summer highlights. Trudeau, 54, posted a montage on Instagram on Friday, capturing key moments from the past few weeks. Among the images was a warm photo of him and Perry, 41, smiling together over drinks. The post also featured a photo from his meetup with Michelle and Barack Obama, along with a picture from his daughter Ella-Grace’s graduation. A family holiday snapshot rounded out the collection. In his caption, Trudeau expressed gratitude for the memorable moments and the people who made the summer feel special to him. The post came shortly after the couple was spotted arriving at a private airport in Olbia, Italy, adding yet another stop to their ongoing travels together. Trudeau and Perry have now been together for more than a year. Dating rumours first surfaced after they were seen dining together in Montreal last July. After roughly six months of speculation, the pair confirmed their relationship publicly on Instagram in December. Since then, they’ve made several joint public appearances. Earlier this summer, the couple made their red carpet debut together at the 25th Annual Tribeca Festival. They also attended the premiere of Perry’s concert film, “Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris.” Speaking about the relationship at that event, Perry told PEOPLE she feels far more grounded across many areas of her life these days. She described herself as being very much in love. She added that the concert film’s premiere took place after she’d already met the person she now calls the love of her life. According to Perry, that connection left her feeling far more anchored, especially given how easily she can otherwise feel scattered. Perry was previously in a long-term relationship with actor Orlando Bloom for nine years. The former couple, who share five-year-old daughter Daisy, ended their relationship in the middle of last year.

Pakistan tops FTR medal table at F-Class World Championship in UK

LONDON: Pakistan has produced a historic performance at the 7th F-Class World Championship in the United Kingdom, emerging as the highest medal-winning nation in the FTR category after securing 4 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze medals during the opening individual competitions. The championship, being held at the renowned Bisley National Shooting Centre, began on 12 August and has brought together 207 elite long-range shooters from 24 countries. The first phase featured individual matches over distances of 800, 900 and 1,000 yards. Competing with a modest contingent of just 12 shooters, Team Pakistan outperformed much larger international teams, underlining the country’s rapid rise in long-range target shooting. The achievement comes only three years after Pakistan entered the international F-Class arena, making its emergence as a major force all the more remarkable. The standout performer was Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Ali, who delivered a world-class performance to claim the coveted Individual FTR World Champion title. He won three gold, one silver and one bronze medal, finishing ahead of all 207 competitors through exceptional consistency across all three shooting distances. His triumph marks the biggest individual achievement in Pakistan’s F-Class shooting history. Sepoy Muhammad Waleed added another gold and a bronze medal to Pakistan’s tally, while Huzaifa Gill excelled in the Under-25 category with three silver and two bronze medals. Ahsan Gill also secured a bronze medal. Pakistan’s impressive depth was reflected in the overall standings, with seven shooters—Lt Col Junaid Ali, Muhammad Waleed, Obaid, Qasim, Huzaifa Gill, Junaid Waqas and Ahsan Gulrez—finishing among the championship’s top 100 competitors. The latest success follows another outstanding performance at the F-Class British Open 2026, held at Bisley earlier this month, where Pakistan won seven gold, two silver and four bronze medals, signalling the country’s growing stature in international long-range shooting. Attention now turns to the prestigious 16-member World Championship Team Match, scheduled for 15–16 August, where Pakistan will compete across 800, 900 and 1,000 yards with hopes of adding to its remarkable medal haul. Pakistan’s performances at Bisley have established the national team as one of the fastest-rising forces in world F-Class shooting and brought considerable pride to the country on the international stage.

Govinda hits back at wife Sunita over ‘sugar daddy’ claims

Govinda has finally responded after wife Sunita Ahuja publicly accused him of having an affair with his “Roopa” co-star, Komal Rani Swarnkar. Sunita had reportedly called him a “sugar daddy” in connection with the actress. The 62-year-old actor addressed his wife’s remarks at length, saying they were actively damaging both his reputation and his career. He pointed out that Sunita had once relied on his help for her own shows during the lockdown period. Now that he has begun work on a new film, Govinda claimed his wife seems determined to make sure he loses public goodwill or faces professional setbacks. He said her comments felt deliberately aimed at hurting his business. The actor also spoke more broadly about people from modest backgrounds entering the film industry. He said such newcomers shouldn’t be humiliated to the point where they feel scared enough to walk away from their careers entirely. Addressing the age-gap criticism surrounding his pairing with Komal, Govinda noted that several senior actors have worked alongside younger co-stars while still appearing youthful on screen. He suggested his wife seemed unwilling to accept that he could still look youthful himself. He further claimed that a specific group was actively working to damage his public image. Govinda appealed directly to Sunita, asking her to show some restraint and stop making public statements about the matter. He also criticised his wife for using abusive language in her recent comments. Govinda warned that young fans following her online could end up imitating that kind of behaviour if it continues. The controversy comes as Govinda and Komal have been making joint public appearances recently while promoting “Roopa.” The two were first spotted together at Mumbai airport, months after Sunita had hinted that the woman allegedly involved with her husband was a newcomer to the industry. They were seen together again on Friday, reigniting public interest in the ongoing dispute. As of now, Sunita has not issued a fresh public response to her husband’s latest remarks.

Trump threatens to declare Strait of Hormuz US territory amid ongoing Iran conflict

US President Donald Trump has threatened to declare the Strait of Hormuz a US territory as his administration struggles to conclude the war with Iran nearly six months into the conflict. Speaking during a speech at a police academy on Long Island, New York, Trump stated that he would soon designate the strategic waterway as US territory, pointing to the ongoing American blockade of Iranian shipping and ports as justification. The Strait of Hormuz serves as a crucial chokepoint for global trade, through which approximately a fifth of the world’s seaborne oil supplies typically pass, and it remains an internationally navigable strait bordered by Iran and Oman. Responding to the statements on social media, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi rejected the claims, asserting that Tehran would not be intimidated by threats or a show of force, and maintaining that the opening or closing of the strait remains strictly under Iranian authority. The ongoing conflict has driven a sharp rise in global fuel prices, forcing working Americans to pay significantly more at the pump. Trump defended the higher costs during his address, arguing that paying extra for gasoline is acceptable to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Meanwhile, peace talks between the two nations remain at an impasse, with Tehran steadfastly refusing to reopen the waterway unless the US completely lifts sanctions, compensates Iran for war damage, and unconditionally releases its frozen assets.
