Danny Ramirez reveals biggest surprise about Aveng…

Danny Ramirez has opened up about one of the most memorable parts of filming Avengers: Doomsday, revealing that the biggest surprise was not the blockbuster action or the star-studded cast, but the chance to reunite with one of his closest friends. Speaking to People magazine during San Diego Comic-Con on July 25, the actor reflected on his experience working on the highly anticipated Marvel film and described the atmosphere on set as unforgettable.

Ramirez reprises his role as Joaquin Torres, the new Falcon, in Avengers: Doomsday. The actor said returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe was exciting on its own, but sharing the experience with longtime friend Lewis Pullman made it even more special. The two actors previously worked together on Top Gun: Maverick and have remained close ever since. According to Ramirez, reuniting on another major project felt like “summer camp,” with the cast enjoying a fun and supportive environment behind the scenes.

The actor explained that the chemistry among the cast members helped create a positive work atmosphere despite the enormous scale of the production. With Marvel bringing together heroes from the Avengers, Fantastic Four and X-Men franchises, Ramirez admitted it was surreal to see so many iconic characters sharing the same set. He said every day offered new surprises, making the experience unlike anything he had worked on before.

Ramirez also spoke about working alongside legendary performers such as Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen. In another Comic-Con interview, he praised both actors for their professionalism and dedication, saying he learned a great deal simply by watching them perform. He noted that their decades of experience and command of storytelling inspired him to become a better actor.

Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be one of Marvel Studios’ biggest crossover events to date. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the film features the return of several beloved MCU stars while introducing major characters from other Marvel franchises. Robert Downey Jr. will make his highly anticipated return to the Marvel universe, this time portraying the iconic villain Doctor Doom instead of Iron Man.

For Ramirez, however, the film’s biggest highlight was far more personal than any action sequence or special effect. He said reconnecting with Pullman reminded him of why he loves making movies, emphasizing the friendships that can grow through years of collaboration. That sense of camaraderie, he explained, made every day on set enjoyable and helped create lasting memories beyond the cameras.

As anticipation builds for Avengers: Doomsday, Ramirez’s comments have given fans a glimpse into the film’s positive behind-the-scenes atmosphere. While audiences are eagerly waiting to see Marvel’s biggest heroes unite on screen, the actor says the genuine friendships formed during production may be the most rewarding part of the entire journey.

Two UK police officers killed in horrific A66 crash

Two Cleveland Police officers have been killed in a devastating wrong-way crash on the A66 near Middlesbrough, prompting an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, politicians and local communities. Police Constables Matthew Blades, 37, and Tom Clough, 38, died at about 3:39am BST on Saturday when a Volkswagen Passat travelling in the wrong direction collided with their police vehicle. Five people travelling in the Passat, reportedly aged between their late teens and early 20s, also died in the crash. Their identities have not yet been released. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation was triggered because the crash followed police contact with the vehicle. According to the IOPC, Cleveland Police had earlier spotted a suspicious vehicle and a pursuit began. Security footage from a property on Lime Road in Middlesbrough appears to show police vehicles following a car several minutes before the fatal collision. The pursuit is understood to have ended before the crash. The police vehicle carrying Blades and Clough was reportedly in the South Bank area when it was struck by the wrong-way vehicle. Cleveland Police Chief Constable Victoria Fuller described the deaths as an “unimaginable loss” and said it was an extremely painful day for the force and the wider community. Fuller said she and Deputy Chief Constable visited the officers’ families to offer condolences and support as they faced the devastating loss. Tributes have also been paid by senior political figures and local representatives. Prime Minister and Home Secretary figures expressed their condolences, while local leaders praised the officers for their dedication to public safety. Redcar MP Anna Turley said the tragedy had caused deep sorrow across the community. She paid tribute to Blades and Clough, highlighting the courage shown by police officers who work around the clock to protect the public. Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen also described the incident as a terrible tragedy and praised the emergency services who responded to the crash. Cleveland Police Federation chairwoman Lauren Somerville said the loss of the two officers had left the police family devastated, with colleagues struggling to put their grief into words. The A66, a major route through the Teesside area, remained closed as investigators examined the crash site. The road is surrounded by industrial areas and factories. The IOPC has urged people to avoid speculation while its investigation continues. Officials said the inquiry will examine the events leading up to the collision and the circumstances surrounding the police contact with the vehicle.

Joe Root returns as England Test captain, Fleming takes coaching charge

England have made major changes to their Test setup, appointing Joe Root as captain for a second stint and naming former New Zealand skipper Stephen Fleming as head coach. The decisions come after Brendon McCullum was removed from the Test coaching role and Ben Stokes stepped away from international cricket earlier this month. Root, 35, previously led England in 64 Test matches between 2017 and 2022. He briefly returned to captaincy during the recent series against New Zealand and has now been given the responsibility of guiding England’s next generation of Test players. The Yorkshire batter is among the greatest run-scorers in Test history, sitting second on the all-time list behind India legend Sachin Tendulkar with more than 14,000 runs. Expressing his delight at the appointment, Root said leading England in Test cricket remains a great honour and challenge. He added that he is excited to work with the team and help develop emerging talent. Root also praised Fleming, describing him as an outstanding leader with deep knowledge of the game. Fleming, who enjoyed a successful coaching career with Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, has been appointed to lead England’s Test side. Under his guidance, Chennai won five IPL titles, making him one of the most respected coaches in world cricket. The 53-year-old said his focus would be on immediate success while also building a strong foundation for England’s long-term future. He expressed excitement about working with Root and helping him succeed in his second spell as captain. England’s next Test assignment will be a three-match series against Pakistan, starting on August 19. Marcus Trescothick will handle coaching duties on an interim basis before Fleming officially takes charge later this year. England men’s cricket managing director Rob Key praised Fleming’s appointment, saying he has the experience and leadership qualities needed to turn England’s promising squad into a world-class team.

Gold prices continued their upward momentum on Friday, extending gains for a third straight session as both international and domestic bullion markets witnessed a sharp rise. According to the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), the price of 24-karat gold in Pakistan surged by Rs5,100 per tola, reaching Rs454,336. The price of 10 grams of gold also climbed by Rs4,372 to settle at Rs389,519. The increase followed a strong performance in the international bullion market, where gold advanced by $51 per ounce to $4,319, providing fresh support to local prices. Silver also posted notable gains in the domestic market. The price of silver rose by Rs280 per tola to Rs6,939, while the rate for 10 grams increased by Rs240 to Rs5,949. The latest rise comes after substantial increases recorded earlier in the week. On Thursday, gold prices jumped by Rs11,300 per tola, while Wednesday saw another sharp increase of Rs10,000 per tola, reflecting sustained strength in global bullion markets and continued investor demand for the precious metal. Earlier in the week, however, gold prices had briefly softened. On Tuesday, the per-tola price slipped by Rs500 before rebounding strongly over the following days. Despite that temporary dip, the overall trend this week has remained firmly upward, pushing gold to fresh record levels in Pakistan.

Major US financial firms targeted in extensive phone-phishing campaign

Ransom-seeking cybercriminals have launched a coordinated campaign targeting high-profile US financial institutions, including Blackstone, Apollo Global Management, KKR, Bain Capital, and CME Group. A technical report from Google’s Threat Intelligence Group revealed that hackers created 72 malicious websites designed to steal corporate login credentials. Operatives used social engineering tactics, reaching employees directly on personal mobile phones while spoofing corporate IT helpdesk numbers. Under the guise of urgent system updates, callers guided staff to fraudulent domains such as “passkeyhelpdesk” or “secure-passkey” to capture login credentials and multi-factor authentication passcodes in real time. According to threat intelligence analysis, the campaign represents a strategic pivot toward private equity firms, law practices, and financial rating agencies, driven by the assessment that these targets hold sensitive commercial data worth paying substantial ransoms to protect. While digital intelligence data identified fake portals created for over 200 organisations, including Uber, Levi Strauss, and several major law firms, it remains unconfirmed which specific financial targets experienced compromised systems. The threat actors operating under names such as Redact, Falcon, Helix, and Pink share common digital infrastructure. Analysts noted that despite advanced enterprise perimeter security, direct voice-phishing techniques exploiting human trust continue to rank among the most effective cyber-intrusion vectors.

Nimra Khan shares advice for parents on daughters’ marriage

Nimra Khan is a well-known Pakistani actress and model who has remained associated with the entertainment industry for many years. Throughout her career, she has earned recognition for her acting skills and strong presence on television. However, her personal life has also attracted considerable public attention, particularly after she went through some difficult experiences. The actress previously survived a horrific traffic accident and later spoke about facing domestic violence during her first marriage. Despite the challenges she encountered, Nimra continued to move forward and eventually found happiness again when she got married for the second time. Her second marriage initially appeared to be a happy new beginning. Nimra openly shared moments of joy with her followers and celebrated the new chapter of her life. However, the happiness did not seem to last for long. In recent weeks, both Nimra and her husband have shared cryptic posts on social media, leading fans to speculate that their relationship may have come to an end. Adding to the speculation, Nimra has removed several of her wedding pictures from social media. She has also been sharing posts discussing toxic relationships, difficult men and the importance of women maintaining their independence. Her recent messages have sparked considerable discussion among her followers. Nimra has now shared advice directed at parents who are preparing to marry off their daughters. She reposted a message from a father advising parents to carefully consider the financial circumstances and character of a man before marrying their daughters to him. The message particularly warned parents against marrying their daughters to men who are financially unstable and dependent on others. Nimra appeared to agree with the advice and emphasized the importance of checking a prospective husband’s financial situation before making such a major decision. Her message reflects a broader discussion about the responsibilities of parents when arranging or approving marriages. Financial stability, emotional maturity, respect and the ability to take responsibility are often considered important factors when evaluating a potential life partner. However, Nimra’s advice also received mixed reactions from social media users. While some people agreed with her point and appreciated her willingness to speak about the issue, others questioned whether she should be giving relationship advice based on her own experiences. One social media user commented that Nimra should focus on healing rather than becoming involved in what they described as unnecessary drama. Another person pointed out that she had already been married twice and questioned her advice about remaining single and independent. At the same time, some users defended Nimra’s viewpoint. One commenter agreed that parents should carefully evaluate a man’s circumstances before marrying their daughters but raised another question about what qualities parents should consider when evaluating girls. Nimra’s latest post has therefore opened another debate about marriage, financial stability, independence and the responsibilities of both families. While opinions remain divided, her comments have once again placed her personal experiences and views on relationships at the centre of public discussion.

‘Patriotism has no single definition’: CJP lea…

NEW DELHI: Abhijeet Deepke, leader of India’s Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), has criticised the Indian government after being labelled a national security threat, saying patriotism should not be defined according to the government’s expectations. Speaking in an interview with an American television channel, Deepke said he considered himself a patriot but rejected the idea that citizens must demonstrate their patriotism in a particular way prescribed by the authorities. Deepke said he was deeply disappointed by the government’s decision to portray him as a threat to national security after he spoke out against the system and established the CJP. He had been living in the United States as an Indian student while holding an Indian passport. The CJP leader said he had decided to return to India from the United States, describing the move as an opportunity to demonstrate his commitment to the country and challenge the allegations made against him. His remarks come amid heightened political tensions surrounding youth-led protests and growing criticism of the government over its handling of dissent and political opposition.
