The Government of Pakistan has announced a fresh increase in petroleum prices, raising the price of petrol by Rs. 1.63 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs. 1.55 per litre. The revised prices will come into effect from July 29, according to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division.

Following the latest revision, petrol will now cost Rs. 335.81 per litre, while high-speed diesel will be available at Rs. 388.38 per litre. Officials said the increase reflects fluctuations in international crude oil prices caused by renewed tensions in the Persian Gulf, which have affected global energy markets.

The government continues to collect substantial taxes and duties on petroleum products. Consumers currently pay around Rs110 per litre in taxes and levies on petrol, while diesel carries approximately Rs96 per litre in taxes and duties.

Fuel prices have remained volatile throughout the year. Diesel had previously reached a record Rs520.35 per litre in early April after rising sharply from Rs281 per litre during the escalation of the US-Iran conflict. Similarly, petrol climbed to a peak of Rs458.41 per litre after increasing from Rs266 per litre in early March.

Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik recently announced that fuel prices would now be reviewed daily instead of weekly. The decision aims to ensure domestic fuel prices better reflect international market trends, especially during periods of global uncertainty.

Under the new policy, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) will determine daily fuel prices based on changes in international oil markets. However, the move has faced criticism from the All Pakistan Dealers Association, which has warned that it may launch protests against the daily pricing mechanism.

Petrol is primarily used by private vehicle owners, motorcycles, rickshaws, and small transport operators. As a result, any increase directly impacts middle- and lower-income households. High-speed diesel is widely used in heavy transport, agriculture, power generation, and industrial sectors, meaning price hikes can also increase transportation and production costs, contributing to inflation.

With monthly sales of 700,000 to 800,000 tonnes, petrol and diesel remain Pakistan’s largest petroleum products by consumption and are significant contributors to government revenue. As global oil prices continue to fluctuate, consumers should expect further adjustments in domestic fuel prices in the coming weeks.

Instead, after the rumours gained traction online, she shared a photograph with her husband on her Instagram Story. The image, posted around six hours before Reviewit published its report, appeared to reassure followers that the couple remains together. While Nadia did not write a lengthy caption or explicitly mention the divorce rumours, many social media users interpreted the post as her response to the ongoing speculation. Fans described the picture as a subtle but effective way of putting an end to the claims without engaging in unnecessary controversy. The actress has previously maintained that she prefers to keep her personal life private despite her public career. Over the years, she has focused her online presence primarily on her professional work, television appearances and lifestyle content rather than regularly sharing details about her family life.     Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) could return to parliamentary standing committees if a meeting is arranged with the party’s founder, Imran Khan. Speaking to journalists in Islamabad, Raja Nasir Abbas said that if the government wanted Parliament to continue functioning, it should facilitate a meeting between PTI leaders and Imran Khan. He alleged that deliberate ambiguity was being created about Imran Khan’s health, saying the situation was also aimed at creating divisions within the party. Raja Nasir Abbas recalled that before the passage of the 26th Constitutional Amendment, a meeting with Imran Khan had taken place on the orders of the court. He said his party wanted a government that genuinely represented the people. Commenting on Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s remarks about a possible collapse of the system, he said he agreed with the assessment. He added that the problem identified by Naqvi was real, but the proposed “medicine” to address it was illegal. The Senate opposition leader also claimed that he knew why negotiations between the government and PTI had failed. He said a complete plan for negotiations had been taken to Imran Khan at Adiala Jail, adding that the opposition had held a meeting at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House before approaching the PTI founder. “We took several proposals to the founder,” he said, explaining that they did not want to visit the Prime Minister’s House and provide legal legitimacy to the government’s position. He said the same principle was behind their decision not to hold negotiations in the Speaker’s Office, as they did not recognise the arrangements as legally legitimate. Raja Nasir Abbas stressed that he distinguished between Imran Khan and the PTI as a political party, adding that he would stand by the former prime minister “until the last moment.” He reiterated that PTI could return to the standing committees if a meeting with Imran Khan was arranged. “If the government is serious about negotiations, it should come forward and talk,” he said, adding that the opposition was ready to hold talks in the Constitution Room of Parliament House.

Later, he joined Marvel Studios’ Hall H presentation, where his unexpected appearance sparked cheers from thousands of fans.  Shortly after the event, Reynolds shared a behind-the-scenes video on X, reflecting on how far the Deadpool franchise has come. “The fans got Deadpool off the ground so many years ago,” he wrote. Marking 10 years since the release of the first Deadpool film and two years since Deadpool & Wolverine, the actor added that he felt “so lucky” to be among fans “whose unapologetic devotion brings so much joy to this world.”  Reynolds also highlighted how meaningful the experience was because it allowed him to enjoy Comic-Con without barriers. “No handlers, no security, no ropes.     Rain continues across Sindh

    Intermittent rain continues to affect several parts of Sindh, including Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Badin, Thatta and Sujawal, bringing relief from the heat but also causing water accumulation in low-lying areas. In Mirpurkhas, persistent rainfall has flooded several low-lying localities, with rainwater entering homes and creating difficulties for residents. The situation has also disrupted routine activities in affected areas. Power supply has also been affected in parts of Mirpurkhas following a fault in a high-tension transmission line. Residents have faced electricity outages as efforts continue to address the technical issue and restore the supply. Weather conditions remain unsettled across southern and southeastern Sindh, where rain-bearing clouds continue to dominate the region. Further rainfall is possible in several areas as the weather system remains active. In Karachi, light rain and drizzle were reported in several parts of the city, including Quaidabad, Malir and Gulistan-e-Johar. The showers brought cooler conditions to some localities, while residents in other areas continued to experience cloudy and humid weather. Authorities and local administrations are monitoring the situation, particularly in low-lying areas where continued rainfall could lead to further water accumulation and temporary disruption to daily life.

    Pakistan plans digital system for private Hajj 202…

    The Ministry of Religious Affairs has decided to introduce a new digital system for the private Hajj operation in 2027 in line with Saudi Arabia’s Nusuk Masar system. Under the new arrangement, bookings for private Hajj will be processed through the Ministry of Religious Affairs instead of being handled directly by private Hajj operators. For the first time, both the government and private Hajj operations will come under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, according to sources. Sources said the private Hajj scheme will be operated through the ministry’s official Pak Hajj app, which will serve as the digital platform for managing bookings and related arrangements. The move is aimed at bringing greater transparency, centralised oversight and digital management to the private Hajj scheme. It will also align Pakistan’s private Hajj operations with the digital procedures being implemented by Saudi authorities. Under the proposed system, pilgrims seeking to perform Hajj through the private scheme will be able to access the relevant services through the official digital platform, while the ministry will maintain direct oversight of the process. The decision marks a significant change from the existing arrangement, under which private Hajj operators play a central role in booking and managing pilgrims. The ministry is expected to announce further details regarding registration, booking procedures, packages, payments and the role of private operators as preparations for Hajj 2027 progress.
