Allah Rakha’s family urges Sohail Ahmed to respe…

Lahore: The family of late Pakistani comedian Allah Rakha, popularly known as Allah Rakha Pepsi, has appealed to veteran actor and comedian Sohail Ahmed to refrain from making personal remarks about the late entertainer, saying such comments have caused them pain. In a recent interview, Allah Rakha’s daughters expressed disappointment over Sohail Ahmed’s public statements, urging him to respect their father’s memory. One of his daughters recalled that her father had introduced Sohail Ahmed to the family as someone they should regard like an uncle, making the recent remarks especially hurtful. She requested that their family’s dignity be respected and asked that her father’s name not be dragged into public discussions. She added that Allah Rakha had faced many hardships during his lifetime and deserved to rest in peace after his passing. The response came after Sohail Ahmed praised Allah Rakha as a talented performer but also spoke publicly about the circumstances surrounding his death, claiming the comedian suffered a heart attack while filming and was under emotional stress due to concerns about his daughter’s divorce. Allah Rakha Pepsi passed away last month after suffering a heart attack during a shooting session, leaving behind a legacy as one of Pakistan’s beloved comedians.

New $35 million investment in Lahore unveiled in London

British-Pakistani business group One Homes has unveiled a new $35 million residential development in Lahore at a global keynote and media event held at The May Fair Hotel in London. The event marked the first official presentation of the development, revealing its architecture, interiors, residences and amenity programme ahead of an international launch across the UK, Europe and North America. One Edition marks the British developer’s return to Lahore following the success of One Canal Road, its flagship development in the city, which has now entered the handover phase. Designed by internationally acclaimed Miami-based architect Kobi Karp, One Canal Road established a new benchmark for premium residential development in Lahore and became one of the city’s most recognised addresses. Aqib Hassan, Chief Commercial Officer at One Homes, said: “One Canal Road proved what was possible. We came to Lahore as an international developer, built in the heart of the city and set out to create a new standard in the market.” The development became the foundation for a wider portfolio that now exceeds $435 million across Lahore and Islamabad. One Edition represents the next stage of that journey, shaped not by what has succeeded elsewhere, but by a deeper understanding of Lahore itself. “One Edition doesn’t try to imitate another city. It belongs here in Lahore. It feels like home,” Hassan added. “It’s modern living fused with a celebration of Lahore’s rich culture.” Located on Raiwind Road, approximately ten minutes from Lahore Ring Road, the development sits within an established residential corridor connecting residents to the wider city. Its position places it within convenient reach of leading schools and universities, healthcare, shopping destinations and major residential communities. One Edition has been conceived specifically for overseas Pakistanis, a community One Homes has developed deep expertise in serving across its portfolio. It is designed for those building lives around the world who want to remain connected to Lahore without compromising the quality, comfort and services they have come to expect. Kobi Karp returns as lead architect following his work on One Canal Road. His appointment reflects both the strength of that collaboration and the ambition of what follows. For One Edition, the design intent moves from import to interpretation, drawing on Lahore’s character to create a building that belongs to its city. London-based Jolie Design Studio has been appointed to lead the interiors, marking its first project in Pakistan. Known for a sensory-led philosophy that considers how spaces are lived and experienced, Jolie brings an approach centred on atmosphere, comfort and the details that shape daily life. Aqib said that the One Group has more than $435 million in projects under development across Lahore and Islamabad, with focus on overseas Pakistanis.

Pakistan intensifies efforts to secure release of …

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting to assess Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to secure the safe and early release of 10 Pakistani nationals being held hostage aboard the oil tanker MT Honour 25 after it was hijacked by pirates off the coast of Somalia. The tanker, which was operating under the Somali flag, was travelling from Oman to Somalia when it was seized by pirates on April 21. A total of 17 crew members were on board the vessel, including 10 Pakistani citizens. Since the incident, the families of the Pakistani hostages have repeatedly appealed to the government to intensify efforts for their loved ones’ safe recovery. During the meeting, officials briefed the deputy prime minister on the latest developments surrounding the hostage situation and the measures being taken to secure the release of the Pakistani nationals. Dar directed all relevant authorities and stakeholders to maintain close and regular coordination while further strengthening diplomatic efforts with both national and international partners. The foreign minister placed particular emphasis on continued communication with Somali authorities and relevant international organisations. He said sustained diplomatic engagement was essential to creating conditions that could facilitate the safe recovery and repatriation of the hostages. Dar also expressed solidarity with the families of the detained Pakistanis and assured them that the government was closely monitoring the situation. He stressed that all possible efforts were being made to achieve a positive outcome and expressed hope that ongoing diplomatic contacts would ultimately result in the safe return of all 10 Pakistani citizens. Last month, Dar spoke by telephone with his Somali counterpart, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, to convey Pakistan’s serious concern over the hostage situation. During the conversation, Dar emphasised the need to protect the health and safety of the hostages, secure their early release and ensure their safe return to Pakistan. The Somali foreign minister assured Dar that his government was continuing sincere efforts to help secure the hostages’ release as soon as possible. The latest meeting in Islamabad comes amid growing concerns about the deteriorating conditions reportedly being faced by the Pakistani nationals aboard the vessel. In video and audio messages, some of the hostages have described severe shortages of essential supplies. They said food and medicines had run out and claimed that they were receiving only one serving of boiled rice each day. They also reported that clean drinking water was no longer available, forcing them to consume contaminated water. According to the hostages, the lack of safe water has already caused illnesses among several crew members, further increasing concerns about their health. One hostage said their lives remained under constant threat and that gunfire could be heard almost every day in the surrounding area. The situation has renewed attention on piracy along Somalia’s coastline and its potential threat to international shipping. Somali pirate attacks reached their highest level in 2011, when armed groups operated as far as 3,655 kilometres from Somalia’s coastline. At its peak, Somali piracy posed a major threat to one of the world’s busiest maritime trade routes, disrupting commercial shipping and placing hundreds of seafarers at risk. Pakistan’s government is now seeking to strengthen diplomatic and international cooperation to ensure the safe release of the 10 Pakistani nationals. Authorities remain engaged with Somalia and other relevant stakeholders as efforts continue to bring the hostages home safely.

The revelation came as a shock to many fans because Akanksha had never publicly discussed problems in her marriage before appearing on the reality show. Her comments on Lock Upp marked the first time she spoke about the situation in such a direct manner, leaving viewers surprised by the sudden disclosure. Now, during a recent event covered by NewsX, Akanksha addressed questions about her divorce and confirmed that the separation is indeed taking place. She clarified that the decision was not a recent development and had actually been made well before she entered Lock Upp Season 2. According to Akanksha, the divorce process had already begun before Gaurav participated in Khatron Ke Khiladi. However, the couple has not yet completed the formalities because their busy professional schedules have made it difficult for them to find the right time to sit together and sign the necessary documents. Akanksha explained that life can be particularly complicated for actors, especially when both partners are working and trying to manage demanding schedules. She suggested that despite their decision to separate, completing the legal process has taken longer than expected because of their conflicting commitments. The actress further revealed that she and Gaurav had spent considerable time thinking about their relationship before reaching the decision to end their marriage. She said the decision was made around two months before she entered Lock Upp, while also placing it before Gaurav’s stint on Khatron Ke Khiladi. Akanksha explained that the couple did not arrive at the decision suddenly. Instead, they took around 18 months to understand their relationship and determine whether they could continue their marriage. After spending that time reflecting on their future together, they eventually concluded that the relationship was no longer working for them. Her latest comments provide further clarity about the couple’s separation and indicate that the divorce is now expected to be completed once they are able to manage their schedules and finish the required formalities. Akanksha’s decision to speak about the matter publicly has also given fans a clearer understanding of why the divorce process has taken time, while making it clear that the separation was a carefully considered decision rather than a sudden development.
