ISPR extends Independence Day greetings to nation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Armed Forces have extended warm greetings to the nation on the country’s 79th Independence Day, paying tribute to the founders of Pakistan, martyrs, veterans and all citizens who have contributed to the country’s progress and security.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, along with the Chief of Naval Staff and Chief of Air Staff, conveyed their Independence Day wishes to the Pakistani nation.

The military leadership paid homage to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the countless individuals who made sacrifices for the creation and protection of Pakistan. The statement highlighted that the vision, courage and determination of the country’s founders continue to guide the nation and inspire people to uphold Pakistan’s core values.

The Armed Forces also honoured the sacrifices of martyrs and acknowledged the contributions of veterans and former service personnel who served the country with dedication.

ISPR further recognized the efforts of law-enforcement personnel and citizens serving the nation in different capacities. It said the sacrifices of martyrs, the courage of ghazis, the commitment of law-enforcement agencies and the collective efforts of Pakistanis have played a vital role in strengthening the country’s resilience.

The Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to the ideals on which Pakistan was founded and called for continued national unity, dedication and service to the country on this historic Independence Day.

    ​LAHORE: A major scam involving the sale of fake Hijama (Cupping Therapy) diplomas and the extortion of millions of rupees from aspiring practitioners has been uncovered in Lahore, prompting the National Council for Tibb (NCT) to issue an official show-cause notice. According to reports, an engineer named Muhammad Raheel Iqbal Butt, running an engineering firm named “3 DOTS GLOBAL FORUM,” unlawfully converted his company into an unauthorized Hijama training center. By posing as a “Professor and Surgeon” alongside his Saudi Arabia-based sister, Rabeel Iqbal Butt, whom he portrayed as a lecturer, he misled individuals seeking a shortcut into the medical field. The center charged each student PKR 90,000 for a 4-month course and PKR 50,000 for practical training, accumulating PKR 140,000 per student without any statutory approval, accreditation, or legal authority. Having completed seven sessions—training roughly 70+ unverified practitioners—the firm reportedly pocketed over PKR 10 million (1 Crore PKR). Responding to this public health risk, the Registrar of the National Council for Tibb (Government of Pakistan) issued a formal show-cause notice demanding a written explanation and legal documentation authorizing their courses within seven days, warning of strict regulatory and legal action upon non-compliance.

While many filmmakers, actors and other industry professionals remain concerned about its impact, Pitt believes the technology could have practical benefits when treated as a creative tool rather than a replacement for human talent. Speaking about the potential financial impact of AI, Pitt said the technology could make it easier to produce films with budgets ranging from around $40 million to $90 million. According to Pitt, the main value of AI could be in helping filmmakers reduce production costs and bring projects to the screen that might otherwise struggle to secure financing. However, the actor does not appear convinced that AI can simply reproduce an actor’s performance in a way that replaces the individual behind it.     Dera Ghazi Khan: The Ghazi University, Dera Ghazi Khan observed National Minorities Day today on the special directions of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad. The event, organized by the Directorate of Students Affairs and hosted by Prof. Dr. Arshad Munir, brought together members of the non-Muslim community and university officials to highlight the equal rights, religious freedom, and contributions of minorities in Pakistan. Members of the non-Muslim community from Dera Ghazi Khan, including Mr. Saleem Ilyas and Mr. Boota Masih, and others attended the ceremony. Senior university officials, Registrar Dr. Muhammad Asif, Prof. Dr. Saeed Ullah, Dr. Muhammad Ziaullah, Director ORIC Dr. Sagheer Atta, Dr. Irum Aziz, Dr. Khizra Bakhsh, and other faculty members were also in the event. The programme commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran by an M.Phil scholar from the Department of Islamic Studies, followed by the recitation of verses from the Injeel (Gospel) by Mr. Boota Masih. Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim then presented a Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool in praise of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Thereafter, the National Anthem of Pakistan was played, with all participants standing in respect. In his welcome address, Prof. Dr. Arshad Munir highlighted the significance of National Minorities Day in Pakistan. He acknowledged the historic contributions of the non-Muslim community to the establishment of Pakistan and their continued role in strengthening the nation. On behalf of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad, he extended an open invitation to members of the non-Muslim community to visit Ghazi University and enrol their children for higher education, assuring that the university would provide full facilitation and support in this regard. Two documentaries were screened during the event. The first showcased the establishment and progressive transformation of Ghazi University under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad. The second, prepared by the Directorate of Students Affairs, highlighted the efforts of non-Muslim personalities and movements that played a vital role in the creation of Pakistan and in its subsequent development. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Saleem Ilyas expressed gratitude to the university administration for inviting members of the non-Muslim community and honouring them. He stated that minorities in Pakistan enjoy complete liberty, freedom of livelihood and worship, and equal rights alongside citizens of all other faiths. Mr. Boota Masih also thanked the university for the respect and affection extended to the community. He said non-Muslims feel comfortable and content in Dera Ghazi Khan, actively participate in local festivities, and remain an integral part of the social fabric. Extending a gesture of interfaith harmony, he invited all participants to visit their church. A cake marking National Minorities Day was cut by the honourable guests, symbolising unity and equality among people of all religions. Refreshments were also served to the participants. The Director Students’ Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Salman Haider presented the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the programme. The event conveyed a clear message of equal rights, religious freedom, and interfaith harmony, reaffirming that minorities are valued partners in Pakistan’s national progress and social cohesion.
