Kriti Sanon urges people to prioritise mental health

Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon has opened up about the importance of mental and emotional well-being, urging people to pay as much attention to their minds as they do to their physical health. The National Award-winning actress reflected on how her experiences while working on films such as Mimi and Do Patti changed her perspective on acting and the emotional impact of portraying complex characters. According to Kriti, she once believed that the characters she played remained confined to the world of cinema and did not have any lasting effect on her personal life. However, her experiences with these two films made her realise that characters can leave an unconscious emotional impact on actors. Kriti explained that the effect of a demanding role does not always become apparent immediately. Sometimes, an actor may complete filming and only begin noticing emotional changes several days later. She said that a character can continue to influence a person’s mood, behaviour and thoughts even after the cameras stop rolling. The actress said this experience taught her the importance of consciously separating herself from the characters she portrays. While actors are expected to completely immerse themselves in their roles, Kriti believes that it is equally important to know when to step away from the emotional world created for a film. She also recalled times when she was personally dealing with difficult or emotionally challenging situations while having to continue working on a comedy project. Despite going through personal struggles, she still had to portray cheerful and entertaining characters in front of the camera. Kriti pointed out that actors repeatedly draw upon their own emotions while performing. They have to access different feelings and sometimes revisit difficult emotional spaces to make their performances believable. Because of this, she believes that maintaining good mental and emotional health should be an important part of an actor’s life. The actress encouraged people to find healthy ways of managing their emotions and maintaining mental balance. She suggested practices such as meditation, therapy and other activities that help individuals feel mentally grounded and emotionally stable. Kriti also shared that she personally turns to meditation from time to time and finds it beneficial. For her, taking a pause and reconnecting with herself helps maintain emotional balance, particularly after working on emotionally demanding projects. Her comments highlight a broader reality of the entertainment industry, where performers are often required to move between intense emotions and different personalities within a short period of time. While professional commitment is important, Kriti believes that taking care of one’s mental health should never be overlooked. Kriti Sanon was most recently seen alongside Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna in Cocktail 2. The actress continues to remain one of Bollywood’s prominent performers, balancing commercially successful projects with roles that require emotional depth and versatility.

Narine’s quiet advice helped Tariq silence the noise on his action

Pakistan spinner Usman Tariq has shared how a call from West Indies great Sunil Narine helped him push through one of the toughest stretches of his career, as questions swirled around the legality of his bowling action. Tariq broke into international cricket last year, earning his debut against South Africa after a string of impressive performances for Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League. Since then, his unconventional action has become a talking point almost every time he takes the ball. The 28-year-old has repeatedly had to defend himself, after both England batter Tom Banton and Australian all-rounder Cameron Green appeared to signal suspicion over a possible throw during separate matches. ICC regulations allow bowlers to straighten their arm by up to 15 degrees mid-delivery, and Tariq maintains he stays well within that limit. He puts the unusual look of his action down to the natural structure of his elbow rather than anything illegal. He made a similar point earlier this year while playing in the ILT20, explaining that his elbow simply does not allow him to straighten his arm fully, regardless of how his action might appear from the outside. The debate resurfaced ahead of Pakistan’s blockbuster clash with India at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, when parts of the Indian media suggested he was being held back from earlier games purely to keep him fresh for that one fixture. The theory did not hold up for long, since Tariq had already featured in Pakistan’s second T20I against Australia before the tournament, and he went on to play his part throughout the World Cup. Speaking with former Pakistan batter Fawad Alam, Tariq revealed that Narine had called him directly during the most intense period of criticism. According to Tariq, the two spoke for close to 30 minutes, with Narine telling him to tune out the noise, stay consistent with his cricket, and remember that critics were only targeting him because they struggled to counter his bowling. Tariq’s action has been reported twice across his career, and both times he was cleared after review. The most recent clearance followed testing at an ICC-accredited biomechanics laboratory, where he bowled 24 deliveries for analysis before being given the green light to continue.

Iran considers allowing European nations to clear …

Iran is reportedly considering allowing European countries to participate in clearing naval mines from the Strait of Hormuz, marking a potential shift in its long-standing position as diplomatic efforts continue to restore safe navigation through one of the world’s most strategically important waterways. According to multiple diplomatic sources, Iranian officials are evaluating the possibility of permitting a European-led mine-clearing operation aimed at reopening commercial shipping lanes affected by months of heightened regional tensions. If approved, the move could help restore confidence in maritime trade and improve the flow of global energy supplies. Sources familiar with the discussions said the proposed policy change is intended to facilitate the safe passage of commercial vessels and oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for international oil and liquefied natural gas exports. The waterway has remained under increased scrutiny due to ongoing security concerns and the reported presence of naval mines. Diplomatic officials indicated that Iran has attached several conditions to any potential European involvement. These reportedly include guarantees for the safety of European naval vessels, the existence of a ceasefire or a significant reduction in regional hostilities, approval from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and assurances that the mission would be limited strictly to humanitarian and commercial navigation rather than broader military operations. While the conditions have not yet been finalized, sources said negotiations are progressing in a constructive direction. No formal agreement has been announced, and discussions among the involved parties remain ongoing. The reported flexibility represents a notable departure from Iran’s previous public position, which has consistently opposed the involvement of foreign military or naval forces in security operations within the Strait of Hormuz. Diplomats, however, say recent closed-door talks suggest Tehran may be willing to reconsider its stance under specific circumstances. Oman is also believed to be playing a key diplomatic role in facilitating communication between Iran and Western countries. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has previously stated that Tehran and Oman had reached an understanding on the geographical parameters of maritime routes, providing a basis for continued negotiations. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most vital energy corridors, carrying a significant share of globally traded crude oil and liquefied natural gas. Any improvement in security and navigation through the waterway could reduce shipping insurance costs, stabilize global energy markets, and support the uninterrupted movement of commercial vessels. Although negotiations are still underway, the reported discussions highlight growing diplomatic efforts to reduce regional tensions and ensure the safe resumption of international maritime trade.

Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf attended the ceremony. The president and prime minister, along with the military leadership, stood respectfully as the national anthem was played by a military band. The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. A video highlighting the concept, construction and development of the monument was also screened for the guests. A large contingent of personnel from the armed forces, paramilitary forces and police presented a guard of honour. The display was accompanied by a military band and reflected the participation of Pakistan’s security institutions in the national ceremony. The event was attended by senior military officers, federal ministers, political leaders, diplomats and other high-ranking officials. The Speaker of the National Assembly, Chairman Senate, Defence Minister, Foreign Minister and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz were among those present. Governors of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also attended. Police contingents from Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan participated in the ceremony. Units representing Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were also part of the event. The monument commemorates Pakistan’s military confrontation with India in May. According to the Pakistani state narrative, the conflict began after the April 22 Pahalgam attack and culminated in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos before a ceasefire was reached between the two countries on May 10. Pakistan has referred to the episode as “Marka-i-Haq,” or the “Battle of Truth.” The inauguration brought together the country’s political and military leadership and carried a strong message of national unity and patriotism.
