Nicki Minaj blasts Dr. Fauci over COVID-19 hearing

Rapper Nicki Minaj has once again criticised former White House Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci, following his appearance before a U.S. Senate committee, where he invoked his Fifth Amendment rights and declined to answer questions related to his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Barbie World hitmaker took to X (formerly Twitter) on July 30 to share a lengthy statement expressing her frustration over the Senate hearing and the lasting impact she believes the pandemic response had on millions of people.
In one of her strongest remarks, Minaj wrote, “Feeding tubes will be his portion. He will lose the ability to speak & then & only then will he feel the collective pain & long term ramifications he caused to new borns, young children who are still trying to become acclimated into society & schools, traumatized pregnant women who couldn’t even have family in the delivery rooms & visits.”
She continued by listing other groups she believes were deeply affected during the pandemic.
“The elderly who died alone & afraid, young ppl still struggling w/mental health, suicide, people turned away from hospitals at their most vulnerable moments, the trust that is now gone from innocent people toward their governments forever, billions of stolen money from hard working tax payers via con artists…” she wrote.
Concluding her message, the rapper reflected on the emotional toll of the pandemic.
“I’ve been struggling to find the humor in any of this. God bless everyone who made it to the other side. You’re stronger than you thought. God is in control,” Minaj added.
Her comments came a day after Dr. Fauci appeared before a Senate hearing examining decisions made during the COVID-19 pandemic. During the proceedings, Fauci repeatedly invoked his Fifth Amendment rights, declining to answer questions regarding his role in the government’s pandemic response.
The latest exchange revives a public disagreement between Minaj and Fauci that began in September 2021 during the global vaccination campaign.
At the time, Minaj claimed on social media that her cousin’s friend in Trinidad became impotent and suffered swollen testicles after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. The post quickly gained international attention and sparked widespread debate online.
Health experts, however, said there was no scientific evidence linking COVID-19 vaccines to those reported side effects.
Responding to the claims in 2021, Dr. Fauci said there was no evidence supporting the allegation and urged the public to rely on verified scientific research instead of unconfirmed reports circulating on social media.
The disagreement quickly became one of the most talked-about celebrity-public health controversies of the pandemic, raising broader discussions about misinformation, vaccine confidence, and the influence of high-profile public figures on health-related issues.
With her latest post, Minaj has once again reignited debate surrounding the pandemic years and the role of public officials in shaping COVID-19 policies, while her criticism of Fauci continues to draw strong reactions across social media.

SBP holds interest rate at 11.5pc amid growth conc…

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has kept its policy rate unchanged at 11.5 per cent, maintaining the existing monetary policy stance amid concerns over economic growth. The decision was announced on Monday by SBP Governor Jameel Ahmed following a meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC). The central bank’s decision was largely expected by financial market analysts. Most experts had predicted that the SBP would maintain the current rate to support macroeconomic stability while monitoring economic conditions. Market surveys conducted by brokerage firms showed that more than 90 per cent of respondents expected the policy rate to remain unchanged. Only a small number of analysts had anticipated a possible increase. The decision comes as Pakistan continues to balance economic stability with the need to encourage business activity and investment. Higher interest rates can help control inflation and support financial stability, but they can also increase borrowing costs for businesses and consumers. The SBP had reduced its policy rate by 50 basis points to 10.5pc in December 2025. It later raised the rate by 100 basis points to 11.5pc in April 2026. Since then, the central bank has maintained the rate at 11.5pc. Business groups have continued to call for a significant reduction in borrowing costs. They argue that lower interest rates could help businesses expand operations, increase investment and support economic activity. However, the central bank has opted for a cautious approach. Policymakers appear focused on maintaining overall economic stability while assessing inflation, growth and other financial indicators.

The number fell to nine in 2026, representing a decline of around 76 per cent. The Sindh police chief told the meeting that seven of the nine terrorism cases reported this year had been traced and their investigations completed. Officials said the CTD conducted 918 intelligence-based operations across the province during 2026. 14 cities bid to host T20 World Cup 2028 matches

Fourteen cities across Australia and New Zealand have expressed interest in hosting matches during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028, highlighting strong enthusiasm for the tournament that will be jointly staged by the two neighboring nations. Tournament organizers invited cities to submit bids for hosting rights, and a total of 14 cities responded with proposals to stage matches during the global event. However, only eight to ten cities are expected to be selected as official host venues, meaning several bidding cities will ultimately miss out. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028 is scheduled to take place during October and November and will mark another major cricket event jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand. Both countries have extensive experience organizing ICC tournaments and are expected to provide world-class venues and infrastructure for teams and fans. According to reports, organizers will evaluate each bid based on the International Cricket Council’s hosting guidelines. A key factor in the selection process will be logistics, with officials aiming to create a tournament schedule that minimizes unnecessary travel while ensuring smooth operations throughout the competition. The governing body is expected to prioritize a balanced distribution of venues that allows teams to move efficiently between matches without excessive travel. A more compact tournament structure is also expected to improve scheduling, simplify event management, and provide a better experience for supporters traveling across both countries. Reducing the number of host cities is seen as an important part of the planning process. With Australia and New Zealand separated by the Tasman Sea and both countries covering vast geographical areas, organizers are seeking to strike the right balance between showcasing multiple regions and maintaining practical travel arrangements. Officials believe that selecting fewer venues will help streamline tournament operations, reduce travel demands for participating teams, and make it easier for fans to follow their favorite sides throughout the competition. The bidding process also reflects the continued popularity of international cricket in both nations. Many cities view hosting World Cup matches as an opportunity to attract visitors, boost local tourism, and generate significant economic activity through hotels, restaurants, transportation, and entertainment. Meanwhile, Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is expected to host the final of the 2028 T20 World Cup. The iconic stadium has a rich history of staging major international cricket events and is widely regarded as one of the sport’s most prestigious venues. If confirmed, the MCG would once again provide the stage for the tournament’s biggest match. The final list of host cities is expected to be announced after organizers complete their evaluation of the bids and finalize venue arrangements in line with ICC requirements. Once confirmed, preparations will begin for upgrading facilities, coordinating logistics, and developing match schedules ahead of the tournament. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028 is expected to feature the world’s leading cricket nations and attract thousands of traveling fans, making it one of the biggest sporting events on the international cricket calendar. With significant interest from host cities and careful planning underway, Australia and New Zealand are preparing to deliver another memorable edition of the tournament.
