Roman-Era masterpiece found hidden beneath fields …

Archaeologists have uncovered a stunning 4th-century Roman mosaic beneath farmland in England, offering new insight into life during the period when Britain was part of the Roman Empire. The remarkable mosaic was discovered at the remains of an ancient Roman villa in Devon. Made from thousands of colorful stones arranged into intricate floral patterns, the artwork is believed to date back to the fourth century AD. The discovery provides fresh evidence of the wealth, architecture and cultural influence that existed in Roman Britain. The Roman Empire controlled much of Britain from around AD 43 until around AD 410, leaving behind numerous settlements, villas, roads and other archaeological remains. Alongside the mosaic, archaeologists discovered a large and sophisticated Roman bathhouse near the site. The complex reportedly contained several small pools, walls decorated with colorful plaster and a range of other ancient artifacts. The excavation was carried out over a two-month period by archaeologists from the University of Exeter and Cotswold Archaeology. Volunteers also participated in the work, helping researchers investigate the agricultural land located between the Devon villages of Hill Barton and Sampford Peverell. The archaeological team already knew that the Roman villa and surrounding working areas were potentially important for understanding the spread of Roman culture across Devon. However, the latest findings have revealed that the site was considerably larger and more significant than previously understood. Project leader Dr Susan Greaney said the discoveries could help researchers better understand Roman cultural influence and its interaction with local communities in the region. The detailed mosaic is particularly significant because such decorative artwork can provide clues about the status and lifestyle of people who lived at Roman villas. Its elaborate design and the presence of a substantial bathhouse suggest that the site was an important settlement rather than a simple rural dwelling. Archaeologists will now continue studying the discoveries and artifacts recovered from the site. Researchers hope the evidence will shed more light on how people lived, worked and adopted Roman customs in southwest England nearly 2,000 years ago. The Roman mosaic discovered in Devon is another reminder of how much of Britain’s ancient history remains hidden beneath modern farmland. Further archaeological investigation could reveal even more about the communities that lived in the region during the final centuries of Roman rule.

Travis Barker reveals what led to his divorce from…

Travis Barker has opened up about his brief first marriage to Melissa Kennedy, offering a glimpse into the personal choices that contributed to their relationship ending. The Blink-182 drummer married Kennedy in 2001, but their marriage lasted only about nine months before he filed for divorce in August 2002. (Wikipedia) While little is publicly known about Kennedy or the couple’s relationship, Barker has discussed the marriage in his 2015 memoir, Can I Say. His comments suggest that he entered married life while still struggling with a strong desire for attention from other women. Barker acknowledged that he was “constantly looking for other girls” even before marrying Kennedy. He also admitted that his behavior extended to his bachelor party, when he was still thinking about other women despite preparing to get married. (HELLO!) Those revelations provide important context for the short-lived relationship. Although Barker has not publicly described one specific incident as the official reason for their divorce, his own reflections point to his behavior and mindset at the time as major factors in the marriage’s failure. The timing of the split also came during a major period in Barker’s career. Blink-182 was enjoying enormous success after the release of its 2001 album Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, while Barker was becoming increasingly recognized as one of the band’s standout members. His professional life was moving quickly, and his personal life was changing just as rapidly. Barker and Kennedy officially went their separate ways in August 2002. The drummer later moved on with actress and model Shanna Moakler, whom he married in 2004. Their relationship became much more public through MTV’s Meet the Barkers, and the couple welcomed two children together. (Wikipedia) Looking back, Barker’s comments about Kennedy show how different his life and relationships were in his younger years. His memoir did not simply revisit the end of the marriage; it also acknowledged some of his own mistakes. Today, Barker is married to Kourtney Kardashian Barker. The couple, who married in 2022, have spoken openly about communication and accountability as important parts of maintaining their relationship. (People.com) His reflections on his first marriage therefore offer a rare look at the musician’s past and the lessons he appears to have carried into his later relationships.

England stun India with 4-2 Hockey World Cup comeback

AMSTELVEEN: England produced a stunning second-half comeback to defeat India 4-2 in a thrilling Pool D encounter at the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 at the Wagener Stadium on Monday. India appeared to be in control for much of the opening half and went into the interval with a 2-1 advantage. However, England completely changed the momentum after the break, scoring three unanswered goals across the third and fourth quarters to secure a memorable victory. The result extended England’s perfect start to the tournament. They now have two wins from two matches and sit at the top of Pool D, strengthening their position as one of the teams to watch in the competition. For India, the defeat continued a long wait for a World Cup victory against England. Their last win over the English side at the global tournament came back in 1994. India had started their campaign confidently, beating Wales 3-1. Captain Harmanpreet Singh converted two penalty corners, while Sanjay added another goal from a set-piece to give his side an encouraging opening victory. England, meanwhile, began the World Cup with an impressive 4-1 victory over Pakistan before carrying that momentum into Monday’s clash. India remain second in Pool D with three points. Their next match will be a highly anticipated encounter against arch-rivals Pakistan, while England will meet Wales in their next group fixture. India’s hockey team are still searching for a second World Cup title, having last lifted the trophy in 1975. They endured a disappointing campaign in the 2023 edition on home soil, finishing ninth. Elsewhere, France and Malaysia played out an entertaining 3-3 draw in Pool B. France’s Timothée Clement scored late in the final quarter to rescue a point. In the women’s tournament, Argentina defeated Germany 3-2, while the Netherlands beat Australia 4-2.

Fire put out at Aramco’s Jazan Refinery, Saudi A…

JAZAN: Firefighters have extinguished a blaze that erupted early Sunday at a facility within Saudi Aramco’s Jazan refinery in southwestern Saudi Arabia, with authorities confirming that no injuries were reported. The Saudi Energy Ministry said Aramco’s industrial security teams quickly brought the fire under control. Relevant authorities were subsequently working to complete procedures related to the incident. The ministry did not disclose what caused the fire or provide details about the extent of any damage. Located on the Red Sea near Saudi Arabia’s border with Yemen, the Jazan refinery has a processing capacity of around 400,000 barrels of crude oil per day. The facility produces several refined petroleum products, including gasoline and ultra-low-sulfur diesel. The latest incident comes shortly after the refinery was shut down following an attack in late July that Saudi authorities attributed to Yemen’s Houthi movement. The attack reportedly damaged parts of the refinery’s integrated gasification complex and tank storage facilities. The Houthis had previously claimed responsibility for strikes targeting Aramco facilities in Jazan and Yanbu, raising concerns over the security of Saudi energy infrastructure and shipping routes in the Red Sea. Aramco Chief Executive Amin Nasser said last week that recent attacks had caused some temporary production disruptions but expressed confidence that operations could be restored quickly. He said the incidents had not caused a significant operational or financial impact on the company. The latest fire comes amid heightened regional tensions involving Saudi Arabia, Yemen and wider disruptions affecting energy and maritime security across the Middle East.

Sebastian Stan and Annabelle Wallis welcome first baby together

Sebastian Stan and Annabelle Wallis have officially become parents, marking a joyful new chapter in their relationship after nearly four years together. The couple reportedly welcomed their first child last month. While the new parents have chosen to keep the arrival private, they have not revealed the baby’s name, gender, or any additional details. Earlier this year, the pair confirmed they were expecting their first child when they were photographed during a stroll in New York City. Annabelle Wallis proudly showed off her baby bump in a relaxed outfit featuring a loose-fitting dress layered with a brown jacket and accessorized with a cheetah-print handbag. Stan opted for a casual look with brown trousers, a white shirt, and a denim jacket. Although the couple have largely kept their personal life away from the spotlight, Sebastian Stan recently opened up about his thoughts on fatherhood while promoting his upcoming film Fjord, directed by Cristian Mungiu. The film follows a man who is forced to examine his worth both as a father and as a person, a storyline that resonated deeply with the actor as he prepared to welcome his own child. Reflecting on the life-changing experience, Stan shared that becoming a father has made him think more seriously about the kind of parent and person he wants to be. He said his biggest goal is to be a good father, adding that he feels a growing sense of responsibility. The 43-year-old actor explained that despite his age and career success, he still believes he is learning and growing as a person. He also revealed that he enjoys reading different perspectives and experiences to better understand the world around him. Stan and Wallis first sparked dating rumours in May 2022 after they were seen together at Robert Pattinson’s birthday celebration. Over time, the couple gradually made more public appearances, confirming their romance without making many public comments about their relationship. In February 2024, Wallis accompanied Stan to the Berlin International Film Festival for the premiere of A Different Man. A few months later, the pair walked the red carpet together at the Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of Stan’s film The Apprentice, in which he portrays Donald Trump. Professionally, Stan continues to stay busy with several high-profile projects. Marvel fans are eagerly awaiting his return as Bucky Barnes, also known as the Winter Soldier, in Avengers: Doomsday. The highly anticipated superhero film is scheduled to arrive in theatres on December 18, while the actor now also begins an exciting new role in his personal life as a first-time father.
