Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has paid tribute to the police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, saying their courage and sacrifices represent a proud and unforgettable chapter in Pakistan’s national history.

In a statement, the interior minister described the martyrs of the police force as the nation’s true heroes, saying the people of Pakistan will always remember their services and sacrifices. He highlighted the crucial role police officers and personnel have played in maintaining peace and protecting citizens across the country.

Naqvi said the police force has shown remarkable courage and determination in the fight against terrorism and crime. He praised the officers and जवान who continue to perform their duties under challenging and dangerous circumstances to protect lives and maintain law and order.

The interior minister added that the sacrifices of police martyrs have made a lasting contribution to the country’s peace, security and stability. He said the nation remains deeply grateful to the brave officers and personnel who gave their lives while serving the country.

Mohsin Naqvi further said Pakistanis salute the courage and dedication of the police martyrs and their families, whose sacrifices continue to inspire the nation. He stressed that the services of those who laid down their lives for peace and security will remain a source of pride for the country.

    The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has introduced a major relief for small-scale solar consumers by amending the Solar Regulations 2026. The new changes remove a key regulatory requirement for consumers installing solar systems of up to 25 kilowatts (kW). According to an official notification issued by NEPRA, consumers with solar power systems of up to 25kW will no longer need to obtain prior approval from the regulatory authority before installing or connecting their systems. Instead, the power to grant approvals has now been delegated to the relevant electricity distribution companies (DISCOs). Consumers will be able to complete the approval process directly through their local power utility, eliminating the need to seek separate permission from NEPRA. The amendment is expected to simplify the procedure for residential, commercial and small business consumers who want to switch to solar energy. By reducing regulatory hurdles, the revised framework aims to make the installation process faster, easier and more efficient. Energy experts believe the decision will encourage more consumers to invest in solar power by shortening approval times and reducing paperwork. The move is also expected to support Pakistan’s growing transition towards renewable energy and lessen dependence on conventional electricity sources. The revised regulations are intended to improve access to clean energy while giving electricity distribution companies greater authority to process applications and facilitate small-scale solar projects more quickly.

    The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has blocked more than 1.54 million URLs linked to prohibited and unlawful content on social media platforms, according to official documents. The documents show that 1,065,671 URLs related to immoral content have been blocked. Another 563 URLs in the same category are under review, while 9,528 have been rejected. In the terrorism-related category, 179,285 URLs were referred for blocking, of which 141,897 URLs have been blocked. A further 23,241 URLs are currently under review. The documents also reveal that 136,891 URLs related to content deemed against the sanctity of Islam were processed by the authority. Similarly, 125,427 URLs concerning content considered against Pakistan’s security and defence were processed. Of these, 74,059 URLs were blocked. The PTA also processed 76,526 URLs under the category of sectarian and hate speech. In the proxy category, the authority processed 10,319 URLs, blocking 10,318 of them. Under the defamation and impersonation category, 44,200 URLs were processed, while 17,356 URLs were blocked. According to the documents, a total of 1,542,800 URLs across various categories have been blocked. Meanwhile, 76,874 URLs remain under review, while 106,629 URLs have been rejected. The figures reflect the PTA’s ongoing efforts to monitor and restrict online content that falls under Pakistan’s prohibited-content regulations.

    PM, Dar hand over official gifts to Toshakhana

    Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and several other senior government officials received a total of 21 official gifts during the April to June period, according to the latest Toshakhana record released by the Cabinet Division. The official record shows that the prime minister and deputy prime minister were among the senior officeholders who received gifts from foreign dignitaries and officials during official meetings and state engagements. In line with the Toshakhana rules, both leaders deposited all the gifts with the Toshakhana instead of retaining them. According to the Cabinet Division, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received several gifts, including a decorative sugar bowl, a luxury pen, a model of Masjid-e-Nabawi (PBUH), a shield and a tie. He also received a model of the Chinese Space Station, a commemorative cup, a wristwatch and another shield during separate official engagements. The records further show that Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar received a Chinese leather belt, a model of an Egyptian statue and a pair of cufflinks as official gifts. These items were also submitted to the Toshakhana in accordance with the prescribed procedure. The Cabinet Division said all gifts received by the prime minister and deputy prime minister have been deposited with the Toshakhana. It added that the process of assessing the monetary value of the gifts is currently in progress. The estimated value will be determined before the record is finalized, following the standard rules governing official gifts received by public officeholders. The Toshakhana maintains a record of gifts presented to government officials by foreign leaders, diplomats and visiting delegations during official visits and meetings. Under the applicable rules, such gifts must be declared and deposited, while their valuation is carried out through the prescribed official mechanism.

Tarar claimed that evidence of Indian funding for elements associated with the banned Action Committee was now in the public domain. He said numerous Indian social media accounts had emerged with evidence linking them to the campaign. According to the minister, posts shared through these accounts were aimed at provoking people against the state. He alleged that social media platforms were being used to promote groups involved in mob mobilisation and attempts to take the law into their own hands. The minister said efforts had been made to encourage such elements through social media. He alleged that the campaign was designed to create unrest and chaos in Kashmir. Tarar said Pakistan’s recent successes had not been acceptable to its adversaries. He said Pakistan had achieved gains not only on the military front but also on the diplomatic front. The information minister said the government would continue defending Pakistan’s national interests on every front. He stressed that efforts to spread disinformation and destabilise the country would not be allowed to undermine Pakistan’s interests. Tarar’s remarks came amid continued debate over social media campaigns and alleged foreign influence in Pakistan’s internal affairs.
