Preliminary post-mortem report released in deaths …

The preliminary post-mortem report of two women who died while in police custody at Lahore’s Town Ship Police Station has been released. According to the report, there were no visible signs of physical torture on the bodies of the two women, and their deaths appear to have been caused by natural or medical reasons. However, the exact cause of death has not yet been established, and further forensic investigation is underway.

The two women, identified as Anmol and Amina, were residents of Pakpattan and had been taken into police custody on suspicion of involvement in an alleged fraud-related incident. Both women died under mysterious circumstances on August 4 while they were being held at the Town Ship Police Station in Lahore.

According to the initial post-mortem findings, multiple needle or syringe marks were found on the bodies of both women. The report, however, did not identify any apparent marks of physical violence or torture. Police officials have said that the final cause of death will only become clear after the forensic examination of samples collected from the bodies.

Police have claimed that they suspect the two women may have consumed poisonous tablets while in custody. Samples and other relevant material obtained from both bodies have been sent to a forensic laboratory for analysis. The forensic report is expected to determine whether any poisonous substance or medication was present in their bodies and may help investigators establish the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

According to police, the women had been arrested on allegations of fraud and deception. A video allegedly showing one of the women removing earrings from an elderly woman has also surfaced. Police said that a female resident of the Town Ship area had contacted the emergency helpline 15 and handed the two women over to the police after the incident.

Residents of the neighborhood also provided police with another video. In the footage, the two women can allegedly be seen removing earrings from an elderly woman. The video has become an important part of the investigation as authorities attempt to establish what happened before the women were taken into custody.

Another video recorded by a camera installed in the room of the police station’s duty clerk has also emerged. The footage reportedly shows Anmol and Amina sitting on chairs inside the police station. They appear to be conscious and interacting with the duty clerk.

The video further shows the two women talking to the clerk shortly before they leave the room. The footage is being examined as part of the investigation into their deaths and may help investigators establish their condition and movements while they were at the police station.

The deaths have raised questions about what happened to the women during their time in custody. While police have ruled out visible signs of physical torture in the preliminary post-mortem examination, the presence of multiple syringe marks and the allegation that the women may have consumed poisonous tablets have prompted further investigation.

Authorities are now awaiting the forensic examination results, which are expected to provide crucial evidence regarding the exact cause of death. Until the final forensic report is received, officials have not reached a definitive conclusion about how the two women died.

Mir Raza’s father raises new questions over son?…

The father of businessman Mir Raza Ali has raised fresh concerns about the investigation into his son’s death. Speaking to the media on Monday, Mir Hassan claimed that his son’s business partner went missing after being questioned by police. He said police had questioned the business partner once. The man was allegedly not seen again after the questioning. Hassan said the family had not been informed about the investigation involving employees of the guest house in Gulistan-e-Johar. Mir Raza’s body was found near the guest house. “We have not been told what investigations were conducted with the employees,” he said. The victim’s father also questioned why CCTV footage from the guest house had not been made public. The latest concerns have emerged as investigators continue to review the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s death. The case took a new turn after the businessman’s body was exhumed for a second post-mortem examination. The second medical examination found a firearm injury and several wounds that had occurred before death. It also reported signs of internal bleeding. According to the findings, a bullet entered the upper right side of Mir Raza’s back and exited through the left side of his chest. The bullet fractured his sixth rib and caused internal bleeding. The report also documented injuries to different parts of his head, face, neck and chest. Following the medical findings, police added Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code to the case. The section relates to murder. The original FIR had been registered under Section 365, which concerns kidnapping. Mir Raza, 25, was allegedly abducted from the PECHS area. His body was later found in bushes near a wedding hall in Gulistan-e-Johar. Police had earlier suspected that he may have been tortured before being shot. The case initially faced uncertainty over whether Mir Raza had been murdered or had died by suicide. His family, however, consistently rejected the suicide theory. The second post-mortem has strengthened the family’s claim that Mir Raza was killed. Questions had also been raised about the first post-mortem report. Karachi Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed had pointed out several issues in the initial examination. She had questioned why the body was not X-rayed and why hand swabs were not collected for gunshot residue testing. She had also raised concerns over the scientific measurement and photography of firearm injuries. Questions were further raised about the documentation of the bullet’s path and the examination of the entry and exit wounds. Following these developments, police dissolved the previous investigation team. A new team was formed under the leadership of DIG Crime and Investigation Amir Farooqi. The new team was tasked with conducting a fresh investigation based on the latest medical findings. Investigators were also expected to revisit the crime scene. They were directed to re-question the victim’s family and other relevant individuals. The team was also expected to examine forensic, technical, physical and circumstantial evidence. Mir Raza’s family has repeatedly criticised the handling of the case. They have maintained that he was murdered and demanded that those responsible be identified and brought to justice. The family’s lawyer, Jibran Nasir, had also alleged that investigators pressured the family to accept a suicide theory. He called for an independent and impartial investigation. The Sindh government has meanwhile decided to establish a judicial commission headed by a Sindh High Court judge. The commission is intended to oversee a transparent and impartial investigation into Mir Raza’s death.

Two children killed, mother injured as dilapidated…

A tragic incident occurred in Chak 33 SP, a village in Pakistan’s Pakpattan district, where the roof of an old and dilapidated house collapsed during heavy rainfall, claiming the lives of two young children and leaving their mother seriously injured. The heartbreaking accident has once again highlighted the dangers posed by weak and poorly maintained structures, particularly during the monsoon season when continuous rain often weakens aging buildings. According to rescue officials, the incident took place while rain was falling in the area. The roof of the deteriorating house suddenly gave way, trapping members of the family beneath the debris. Neighbors rushed to the scene immediately after hearing the loud crash and attempted to help the victims before emergency rescue teams arrived. Rescue personnel quickly launched an operation to remove the debris and recover those trapped inside the collapsed house. After an intensive rescue effort, two children were pulled from the rubble but were found to have died from their injuries. Their mother, who was also trapped under the collapsed roof, was rescued alive but sustained serious injuries. Rescue sources confirmed that the bodies of the deceased children and the injured woman were shifted to a nearby hospital. Medical teams provided emergency treatment to the injured mother, while the children’s bodies were handed over for the necessary legal and medical procedures before being released to the family for burial. The tragic deaths have left the local community in deep shock and mourning. Residents gathered at the site to assist rescue workers and expressed grief over the heartbreaking loss of two innocent lives. Many locals also voiced concerns about the condition of old houses in the area, noting that numerous families continue to live in unsafe structures because they cannot afford repairs or reconstruction. Heavy monsoon rains frequently expose the vulnerability of aging homes across many parts of Pakistan. Weak roofs and deteriorating walls become increasingly unstable after prolonged rainfall, increasing the risk of collapse. Such incidents often result in injuries, fatalities, and significant property damage, particularly in rural areas where many houses are built with older construction materials and receive little maintenance. Authorities have repeatedly advised residents living in damaged or structurally weak buildings to take precautionary measures during periods of heavy rainfall. However, financial constraints often prevent families from repairing or rebuilding their homes, leaving them exposed to life-threatening risks whenever severe weather strikes. Disaster management experts stress the importance of inspecting old buildings before and during the monsoon season. Timely repairs, stronger construction standards, and public awareness campaigns can help reduce the likelihood of similar tragedies. Local administrations are also encouraged to identify vulnerable structures and provide assistance to families living in hazardous conditions. The incident in Chak 33 SP serves as another painful reminder of the devastating consequences that aging infrastructure and extreme weather can have on vulnerable communities. As the injured mother continues to receive medical treatment, the family and the entire village are grieving the loss of the two children whose lives were cut short in the tragic roof collapse. The unfortunate event underscores the urgent need for improved housing safety measures and greater support for families residing in unsafe homes, particularly during Pakistan’s annual monsoon season.
