The NDMA advised the public to avoid crossing Korang Nullah or using temporary bridges if the water level rises following the opening of the spillway gates. Authorities warned that stronger water currents could pose serious risks to commuters and nearby communities.

Local administration and emergency response teams have been placed on alert to monitor the situation and respond promptly to any emergencies. Residents in low-lying areas have been encouraged to stay informed through official weather and disaster management updates.

He said they would soon enter practical life and should play their role in strengthening the country, while remaining ready to make every sacrifice for the national interest. He said the cadet college was not only providing quality education but was also playing an important role in character building, discipline and training of students. He assured the students that he would make every possible effort to address their issues and appreciated the college administration for its services in providing quality education and training. Speaking on the occasion, Principal Brigadier (Retd) Abdul Hafeez welcomed the governor and other guests.     Lahore – A total of 50,000 scholarship cards have been announced for Pakistani youth with the deadline for submitting applications set for August 21, 2026. According to details, the Hunarmand Punjab Advanced IT and Technical Training Program has been launched to promote digital and technical skills among Pakistani youth. The deadline for applications for the program is August 21, 2026. Eligibility criteria All Pakistani citizens aged 15 to 50 years who have at least a matriculation-level education are eligible to apply for the program. Under the initiative, 50,000 scholarship cards will be distributed across the country. Of these, 25,000 will be allocated to Punjab while the remaining 25,000 will be distributed among Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan. Applicants will be required to obtain at least 85% marks in the final evaluation test and fulfill the other program requirements to qualify for a scholarship card. According to the announced merit criteria, candidates who secure 85% marks may qualify for fee reimbursement. Candidates scoring 86% to 88% will be eligible for a solar panel while those securing 89% to 91% will be offered a Chromebook. Candidates who score 92% to 94% will be eligible for a laptop while those obtaining 95% or above will be offered an e-bike. The training program includes courses in more than 30 fields including artificial intelligence, digital marketing, web development, graphic designing, e-commerce, cybersecurity, data science, freelancing, video editing, app development and YouTube monetization. Other courses offered under the program include Amazon Virtual Assistant, Shopify and Daraz business, WordPress, React and Node.js, MERN Stack, PHP Laravel, Python programming, machine learning, SEO, Google Ads, IELTS preparation, textile designing, digital embroidery and penetration testing among others.

    Bollywood stars warned over pan masala ads

The Maharashtra FDA has asked the three actors to provide explanations within 15 days. Officials have recently taken action against restaurants and food businesses over hygiene and safety violations. He said the records cover gifts received by the president, prime minister, deputy prime minister, federal ministers and other government officials. However, the names of the foreign dignitaries who presented the gifts have not been made public. The Cabinet Division has stated that the valuation of some of the newly listed gifts is still being completed. It has also clarified that the published information is based on records and declarations submitted by individuals and departments. The records show that President Zardari received several valuable and ceremonial items. These included a tea set, sword, golden desert model, woollen overcoat and a Vacheron Constantin Geneve wristwatch. Other gifts listed for the president included a decorative piece, ceremonial sabre set, chessboard, serving bowl and an oil painting. First Lady Assefa Bhutto-Zardari and Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari also received jewellery. The records show that both received necklaces. Jewellery sets were also listed among their gifts. Assefa Bhutto-Zardari additionally received a Kumis set. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also received a wide range of gifts. The items included shields, souvenirs, portraits, ties, frames and swords. Some jewellery items were also listed among the gifts received by the prime minister. The records further show several watches, including Rolex and Patek Philippe models. Other items included a coin, traditional dress, clock, sugar bowl and car model. Cups, pens and cufflinks were also among the listed gifts. Deputy Chief of State Protocol Hafeezullah received a Tag Heuer watch. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi received a Rolex watch and a hand-chased tea set. Prime Minister’s spokesperson for foreign media Mosharraf Ali Zaidi received a Tag Heuer watch. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Industries and Production Haroon Akhter received a hand-chased tea set with 24-karat gold plating. The government has said the details of Toshakhana gifts will continue to be uploaded periodically. The Cabinet Division has also placed a disclaimer on the records.     LHC acquits man sentenced to life for wife’s…

    LAHORE: The Lahore High Court ( LHC) has overturned the life imprisonment sentence of a man convicted of murdering his wife, ruling that the prosecution failed to establish his guilt beyond reasonable doubt. Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh issued a detailed 19-page written judgment, allowing the appeal filed by the convict, Tanveer, and ordering his immediate release. According to the verdict, Tanveer maintained that he was on duty at a petrol station at the time of the incident and denied any involvement in the killing of his wife. The court observed that the prosecution had failed to produce reliable and convincing evidence to support the allegations against him. The judgment concluded that the available evidence was insufficient to sustain the conviction, leading the court to set aside the trial court’s decision and acquit the appellant. Tanveer had been sentenced to life imprisonment in 2022 by a trial court after being found guilty of his wife’s murder. In addition to the prison term, he was fined Rs400,000. He later challenged the conviction before the Lahore High Court, which has now ruled in his favor.
