Sargodha student dies after allegedly being forced…

A young woman lost her life in an alleged poisoning incident in Kot Momin, a town in Punjab’s Sargodha district, after reportedly consuming a toxic drink. Police have launched an investigation following allegations by the victim’s family that she was deliberately poisoned by a classmate after refusing his marriage proposal. According to police officials, a case has been registered against two suspects on the complaint of the deceased’s father. Authorities said the investigation is underway, and efforts are being made to arrest the accused. The victim’s father alleged that his daughter had been invited to a local pizza shop by the suspects, where she was allegedly served a poisonous juice. He claimed that the accused resorted to the act after she refused a marriage proposal made by one of them. According to the complaint, the young woman consumed the beverage during the meeting and shortly afterward began experiencing severe health complications. Her condition rapidly deteriorated, prompting those present to rush her to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Despite the efforts of doctors and medical staff, the young woman could not be saved and later succumbed to her condition. Her death has shocked the local community and sparked concern over violence linked to rejected marriage proposals. Police officials confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the two nominated suspects based on the allegations made by the victim’s father. Investigators are collecting evidence and recording statements from witnesses to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. The victim’s body was shifted to a hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the precise cause of death. Following the completion of the medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to her family for burial. Law enforcement authorities said raids are being carried out at multiple locations to arrest the suspects, who are currently at large. Police expressed confidence that the accused would be taken into custody soon and assured the family that the investigation would be conducted in accordance with the law. Officials also stated that forensic evidence, including the alleged beverage and other material collected from the scene, will be examined as part of the investigation. The findings of the post-mortem report and laboratory analysis are expected to play an important role in determining whether poisoning was the cause of death. The case has drawn attention due to the serious nature of the allegations. However, police emphasized that the investigation is still in its early stages, and the claims made in the FIR will be examined through available evidence before any conclusions are reached. Authorities have urged anyone with information related to the incident to cooperate with investigators to help establish the facts. They reiterated that all aspects of the case, including the motive behind the alleged crime, are being thoroughly investigated. The tragic incident has once again highlighted concerns about crimes allegedly linked to rejected marriage proposals and personal disputes. Police have assured the victim’s family that every effort will be made to bring those responsible to justice, while the investigation continues to establish the full circumstances surrounding the young woman’s death.

Justice delayed for 40 years is injustice, says Mu…

Prominent religious scholar Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman has called for urgent reforms in Pakistan’s justice and economic systems, saying that a legal framework that fails to deliver justice for decades cannot be considered fair. Addressing a gathering in Karachi on Tuesday, Mufti Muneeb said prolonged court cases lasting 40 years amount to injustice and place an enormous burden on ordinary citizens. He stressed that timely justice is essential for social stability and public trust in institutions. The scholar also urged those in power to focus on resolving Pakistan’s domestic challenges. He said leaders often discuss global issues, but greater attention should be given to pressing national matters, particularly economic concerns affecting millions of people. Referring to the energy sector, Mufti Muneeb called for a solution to issues related to Independent Power Producers (IPPs), which have frequently been debated in Pakistan due to their impact on electricity costs and the national economy. He further highlighted the country’s financial difficulties, saying that after payments related to provincial allocations and debt obligations, limited resources remain for development and public welfare. Speaking at the same event, Maulana Bashir Farooqi expressed concern over the continuation of the interest-based banking system. He said there was a need for serious efforts to move toward alternative financial models and added that his organization was prepared to help train employees of conventional banks if reforms were introduced. The remarks come amid ongoing debates in Pakistan over judicial reforms, economic challenges and proposals for changes in the financial system.

Overseas Pakistanis to verify Islamabad properties…

MANCHESTER: British-Pakistani entrepreneur Shafiq Akbar has announced that an online property verification service in Pakistan will be launched next month, describing it as a major step towards protecting overseas Pakistanis from property fraud and restoring confidence in the country’s real estate sector. Speaking at an investment event in Manchester, Akbar said many overseas Pakistanis want to invest in Pakistan, whether to own a home, establish a base in the country or build long-term wealth. However, he said the biggest concern preventing many from investing is the fear of fraud and uncertainty over whether their investment will be secure. He said overseas Pakistanis need confidence that the promises made to them will be fulfilled, whether that is receiving ownership of a home or achieving the expected returns on their investment. “It is our responsibility, as Pakistanis, together with the Government of Pakistan and the private sector, to ensure their investments are protected,” he said. Akbar revealed that an online property verification service will be launched in Pakistan next month, allowing overseas buyers to verify the legal status and ownership of properties remotely before making a purchase. He said Pakistanis living in countries such as the UK will be able to check online whether a property in Islamabad has any legal, ownership or other issues before investing, helping them make informed decisions with greater peace of mind. He said the initiative is aimed at improving transparency in Pakistan’s real estate market and reducing the risk of fraudulent transactions, which have discouraged some overseas Pakistanis from investing. Highlighting Pakistan’s investment potential, Akbar said his experience over the past decade has convinced him that the country offers significantly greater growth opportunities than more mature economies. Comparing Islamabad with London, he said the Pakistani capital has witnessed remarkable infrastructure development over the past five to ten years, including new roads, underpasses, motorways, airport expansion and major public infrastructure projects. He said Pakistan’s growing population, expanding infrastructure and status as a developing economy continue to create strong long-term investment opportunities. Akbar also urged the Government of Pakistan to prioritise the protection of overseas Pakistanis’ investments by strengthening legal safeguards and providing greater security for investors. He said giving overseas Pakistanis confidence that their investments are safe would encourage them to invest back home with peace of mind. The online property verification service has yet to be launched, and further details regarding its implementation, regulatory oversight and the mechanism for verifying property records have not yet been disclosed.

Zara Noor Abbas raises alarm over child safety and rising crimes

Pakistani actress Zara Noor Abbas has expressed deep concern over the growing number of crimes against children in Pakistan, describing the current situation as one of the “worst times” for the country. Taking to her Instagram Story, the actress highlighted the increasing reports of sexual violence, murder and other serious crimes, saying that the issue goes beyond the incidents themselves. According to her, the bigger concern is the apparent lack of strong consequences for those involved in such crimes. She suggested that when perpetrators do not see meaningful punishment, it can encourage others to commit similar offences. Zara Noor Abbas also questioned the overall state of law and order, stressing that the situation has become increasingly alarming for ordinary families. She pointed out that such incidents are no longer something that can be viewed as isolated cases or limited to a particular group. Instead, the frequency of disturbing reports has created a wider sense of insecurity within society. The actress particularly raised concerns about parents who are struggling to understand how they can protect their children in an environment where serious crimes continue to make headlines. She questioned whether people are being pushed towards taking matters into their own hands because of a perceived lack of effective action under the law. Zara also referred to the case involving Mir Raza Ali, in which his body was reportedly exhumed for another post-mortem examination. The case had initially been treated as a suspected suicide. However, a subsequent examination reportedly revealed that the deceased had been shot and had also suffered signs of physical violence. The actress further expressed concern over the reported rape and murder of a minor girl in Karachi. She highlighted the discussion surrounding the alleged suspect’s young age and the possibility of providing psychological assistance because of his age. While discussing these cases, Zara questioned how parents can realistically ensure the safety of their children when disturbing incidents continue to emerge. Her remarks reflected growing public anxiety over crimes involving minors and the fear that insufficient accountability could allow such cases to become more frequent. The actress’s comments have drawn attention to the broader concerns surrounding child safety, justice and accountability in Pakistan. Her questions also underline the pressure faced by parents who want to protect their children but remain worried about whether existing legal and social systems are strong enough to prevent such crimes. Zara Noor Abbas’ statement has once again brought the issue of child protection into the spotlight, with her remarks focusing on the need for stronger accountability and effective measures to ensure that those responsible for serious crimes face appropriate consequences.
