Shah Rukh Khan overtakes Virat Kohli in brand rankings

Shah Rukh Khan has reclaimed the top position as India’s most valuable celebrity brand, surpassing cricketer Virat Kohli in the latest Kroll India Celebrity Brand Valuation Report 2025.

The report values Khan’s brand at $177.9 million, marking a significant rise from his third-place ranking in 2024. The increase reflects the commercial success of his recent films, strong audience appeal and continued popularity among advertisers and major brands.

Actor Ranveer Singh secured second place with the same estimated brand value of $177.9 million, while Kohli dropped to third with a valuation of $158.4 million after recording a notable decline over the past two years.

The rankings evaluate celebrities based on endorsement deals, brand partnerships, public image, media visibility and influence across digital and social media platforms. Khan’s brand value has grown by $57.2 million during the last two years, highlighting his strong comeback and renewed commercial strength.

Among female celebrities, Alia Bhatt remained the highest-ranked woman, securing sixth place with a brand value of $93.9 million. She was followed by Deepika Padukone in seventh with $89.2 million.

The top 10 also includes Hrithik Roshan, Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar, reflecting the continued commercial influence of Bollywood’s biggest names.

Further down the rankings, Ranbir Kapoor and Salman Khan retained places among India’s leading celebrity brands, while younger stars including Ananya Panday, Janhvi Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor continued to strengthen their commercial presence.

The latest rankings underline the growing importance of box office performance, digital influence and public engagement in determining the market value of celebrities, with Shah Rukh Khan once again emerging as India’s most sought-after brand ambassador.

    QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to ensuring merit and transparency in public-sector recruitment, as 19 officers were appointed to the Balochistan Revenue Authority (BRA) through a selection process conducted by the Higher Education Commission. He noted that a substantial share of provincial resources was currently being consumed by such expenditures, limiting the government’s ability to invest in public welfare. Bugti expressed hope that stronger revenue generation would provide additional resources for key sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure and other development projects. Reiterating a commitment he made after assuming office, the chief minister said government employment would not be treated as a commodity and that appointments would be based solely on merit. He cited the recruitment of more than 14,500 teachers in the Education Department as an example of the policy. He also pointed out that candidates from his own home district, Dera Bugti, were unsuccessful in the latest BRA recruitment, describing this as evidence that the selection process had remained impartial. Bugti appreciated Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, BRA Chairperson Abdullah Khan Noorzai and their teams for supporting a transparent recruitment process. He said merit-based appointments were essential for rebuilding young people’s trust in public institutions and encouraged the newly appointed officers to serve with sincerity and professionalism.

    BTS star V reveals two-year hearing loss struggle

    BTS member V, whose real name is Kim Tae-hyung, has revealed that he has been undergoing treatment for hearing loss in his right ear for more than two years. The 30-year-old singer shared the information during a livestream on Wednesday, telling fans that this was the first time he had publicly spoken about the condition. V explained that his hearing in the affected ear is significantly weaker than in his left ear. He said that if his hearing in the left ear is considered 100%, the level in his right ear is around 30%. The singer said the problem became more noticeable during his mandatory military service in South Korea. However, he initially did not consider the issue serious and believed he could overcome it through mental strength. V said he is now receiving medical treatment, taking medication and visiting hospital regularly to manage the condition. His revelation comes as BTS is undertaking its first major world tour since all seven members reunited following their mandatory military service. BTS members began taking breaks from their group activities in 2022 as they prepared to fulfil their military obligations. V enlisted in 2023 and completed his service in June 2025. The group’s Arirang World Tour began in South Korea in April and has marked a highly anticipated return of the full seven-member lineup. The latest livestream came after BTS completed its concerts in Baltimore, Maryland. During the livestream, V was joined by fellow BTS member Jungkook, who also spoke about an injury affecting his shin during the tour. Jungkook revealed that he was concerned about the injury developing into a stress fracture and said he would need to manage it carefully to continue performing throughout the tour.     Federal agents arrest armed suspect near Donald Trump’s California golf course

    Federal and local law enforcement officers in California have arrested a 38-year-old man who was observed taking photographs and monitoring security preparations at President Donald Trump’s golf course in Rancho Palos Verdes, two days before the president was scheduled to attend a political fundraising dinner at the venue. The suspect, identified as Jeanine John Taele of Downey, California, was taken into custody on Sunday afternoon by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies and federal agents. Authorities revealed that Taele had initially been spotted on the grounds of Trump National Golf Club on Friday, wearing an earpiece while filming federal personnel carrying out security assessments. Upon returning to the property on Sunday, Taele allegedly approached federal agents, falsely claimed to work for the US Department of State on a security detail, and admitted to possessing a loaded weapon inside his vehicle. Upon searching the suspect, law enforcement officers recovered a 16-round magazine loaded with hollow-point ammunition from his clothing. A subsequent search of his pickup truck parked on the property yielded a loaded 9mm pistol, additional hollow-point rounds, binoculars, and a fake badge reading “security protection agent”. Officers also determined that Taele was actively wanted in connection with an unrelated robbery investigation conducted by the El Segundo Police Department. Following the arrest, agents from the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Sheriff’s Department Major Crimes Bureau executed a search warrant at Taele’s residence in Downey. Investigators seized an illegally modified short-barrelled AR-style rifle, a .45-calibre handgun, body armour, high-capacity magazines, extensive ammunition supplies, and notebooks containing what officials described as “concerning statements”. Taele, a decorated US Marine Corps veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan between 2008 and 2016, faces both state and federal charges. State prosecutors in Los Angeles County have charged him with second-degree robbery, possession of a short-barrelled rifle, manufacturing or receiving a large-capacity magazine, and carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle. He pleaded not guilty to state charges on Tuesday and remains held on $250,000 bail. Federal prosecutors have separately charged Taele with possession of an unregistered short-barrelled rifle, an offence carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison. While the Secret Service and the FBI continue to investigate Taele’s motives, officials from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stated that there is currently no evidence of a direct, ongoing threat to the local community. President Trump proceeded with his planned visit to California, landing at the golf course via helicopter to host the Republican fundraising event.

    Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed has expressed deep concern over developments in the Mir Raza Ali case, saying she has never felt so helpless during her four-year tenure as Karachi’s police surgeon and head of medico-legal services. In a post on social media platform X, Dr Summaiya said she had frequently faced obstacles while trying to establish the truth and ensure justice. However, she said the situation surrounding the Mir Raza case had left her extremely exhausted. “During my four-year tenure as Karachi’s medico-legal services/police surgeon, I have never felt this helpless,” she said. Dr Summaiya added that although difficulties had often come her way in the pursuit of truth and justice, she had now reached a point of extreme exhaustion. The police surgeon had earlier written a letter to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East regarding the Mir Raza Ali case. In the letter, she pointed out what she described as serious shortcomings in the post-mortem report prepared by Dr Usama Sheikh. Her concerns have raised questions about the findings recorded in the post-mortem report and the medico-legal procedures followed in the case. The matter has consequently drawn attention to the importance of accurate documentation and proper medical examination in sensitive cases. Dr Summaiya’s latest remarks indicate her continued concern over the handling of the case. Her public statement has also highlighted the difficulties she says she has encountered while carrying out her professional responsibilities and seeking truth and justice.
