Her lighthearted response quickly drew attention, particularly because Sushmita has spoken openly in the past about her decision to remain unmarried and her views on relationships.

During a conversation in 2022, the actress discussed why she had never married despite having relationships over the years. She explained that some interesting men had entered her life, but the relationships did not progress toward marriage.

    PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has called for the provincial police to be equipped with modern weapons, advanced technology and additional resources to strengthen their ability to counter terrorism. Speaking at Governor House during a meeting with a 33-member delegation of Sindh Police Deputy Superintendents of Police visiting the province for training, Kundi praised the K-P police for continuing to serve on the frontline despite severe security challenges. The governor said policing in K-P was fundamentally different from other provinces because of the persistent threat of terrorism. He stressed that police personnel needed modern weapons, more bulletproof vehicles and advanced technological equipment to respond to emerging threats, including attacks involving militant quadcopters. Kundi said proposals had also been forwarded to the provincial government regarding improvements in police salaries. He maintained that better resources and welfare measures were essential for strengthening the force. He said K-P’s long border with Afghanistan had created additional security challenges, while the Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps were contributing significantly to border protection. He urged the government to provide comprehensive support to all law-enforcement agencies engaged in counterterrorism operations. Addressing a question about cross-border terrorism, Kundi said attacks originating from Afghan territory were unacceptable. He claimed that evidence had surfaced regarding the involvement of some Afghan nationals in terrorist incidents in K-P and said the repatriation of undocumented Afghan nationals was continuing.

Mohammad Ahmed also described another incident in which the actor allegedly picked up a handheld fan from a female co-star and jokingly waved it over his head as though styling his hair with a hair dryer. The gesture, he said, was intended to mock his baldness and embarrass him in front of everyone present. Reflecting on the incidents, Mohammad Ahmed admitted that the comments hurt him but said he deliberately chose not to respond. He explained that in today’s environment, anyone can record a video on a mobile phone and upload it online in a way that could damage someone’s reputation. “I know I am bald, I know I have a dark complexion, and I know I am short,” he said, adding that he can laugh at himself. However, he noted that hearing such remarks from someone decades younger felt deeply disrespectful. The veteran actor revealed that he worked with the same individual on two separate projects and endured repeated criticism about his appearance and acting without reacting. He said he wanted to avoid lowering himself to the same level and did not wish to create problems for the production team, whom he described as respectful and supportive.     PTI changes venue for August 5 rally in Peshawar

    Peshawar: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has changed the venue for its August 5 public rally, with party leaders announcing that the gathering will now take place at an open ground near the Peshawar Motorway instead of the previously planned location. The decision was made during a PTI parliamentary party meeting held at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar. The meeting was chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sualeh Afridi and attended by members of the National Assembly and the Provincial Assembly. Addressing the meeting, Afridi said preparations for the rally were in full swing and responsibilities had been assigned to party lawmakers to ensure the event’s success. He described the August 5 rally as a “semi-final” and a decisive gathering, saying the party would present its future political strategy to the public. According to the chief minister, the venue was shifted to an open ground near the Peshawar Motorway to improve public access and accommodate a larger number of participants. Afridi also reviewed the party’s political efforts since October 15, 2025, stating that PTI had pursued constitutional and legal avenues to resolve political issues through dialogue. He said the party leadership had sought meetings with PTI founder Imran Khan through legal channels, including approaching the Islamabad High Court and the Supreme Court, but those efforts had not produced the desired outcome. He reiterated that PTI remained committed to peaceful political activity and maintained that peaceful protest was the party’s final constitutional option. Afridi also called for better access to Imran Khan by his family, sisters, and personal doctors, while urging authorities to ensure he receives appropriate medical care. The meeting, however, was not without internal disagreements. According to party sources, several lawmakers expressed concerns over the timing of the rally and suggested holding a workers’ convention before launching the movement. Some members argued that the main protest should be organized in Punjab rather than Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to increase political pressure on the federal government. The reported differences led to a heated exchange during the meeting, with some dissatisfied lawmakers leaving before it concluded. Party sources said the chief minister assured members that their concerns would be addressed.     Iran advances in Hormuz talks with Oman

He stressed that the understanding, while important, would not by itself guarantee complete security in the strategically vital waterway. According to sources, the proposed arrangement would place Iran in charge of overseeing vessels entering the Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz. The sources described the proposal as one of Tehran’s most substantial concessions in the ongoing discussions. However, they dismissed claims made by US President Donald Trump that a comprehensive agreement to fully reopen the strait was close, saying several key issues remain unresolved. Baghaei described the negotiations with Oman as constructive and professional, noting that both countries have reached consensus on the shipping corridor. He added that officials are now working on the final wording of the joint declaration. An Iranian diplomatic source also expressed optimism that an agreement could be reached within the next couple of days if no external actors complicate the process. The source further clarified that the Strait of Hormuz has never been closed due to disagreements between Iran and Oman, insisting that any disruption to navigation depends on actions taken by the United States. Separately, Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of the Iranian parliament’s National Security Committee, said the time would eventually come when US military forces would withdraw from the region. He argued that countries hosting American bases would ultimately be responsible for financing their own security after the departure of US troops. Iranian state media also maintained that any shipping agreement with Oman would not automatically result in the reopening of the strait if Washington continued policies that Tehran considers hostile. A source quoted that the discussions with Oman are strictly bilateral and unrelated to negotiations involving the United States. In another development, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk voiced concern over a sharp increase in executions in Iran since March. He said at least 56 individuals have been executed on national security charges during this period, including 27 people connected to earlier anti-government protests. Meanwhile, Yemen’s Houthi movement claimed responsibility for launching ballistic missiles at the Saudi oil tanker Wafaa near Yanbu in the northern Red Sea. A Houthi spokesperson said the missiles struck their intended target and described the attack as part of the group’s continuing blockade against Saudi Arabia. According to the group, the tanker is the eighth vessel targeted since the blockade began in July. Iranian parliamentarian Esmail Kowsari criticised President Trump’s public statements on the Strait of Hormuz, accusing him of making inconsistent and misleading claims about the negotiations. He argued that repeated assertions about the strait reopening and Iran’s position have failed to match developments on the ground. President Trump, however, said the waterway would reopen soon and warned that Iran would face severe consequences if negotiations collapsed. He also claimed that easing tensions in the region could lead to a significant drop in global oil prices. Qatar said diplomatic mediation efforts are making steady progress, with the country’s Emir discussing the latest developments with President Trump in an effort to narrow differences between Washington and Tehran. At the same time, Israeli officials reportedly expressed concern that the United States appears willing to secure an agreement regardless of the terms, adding that Israel is receiving updates on the Hormuz negotiations only through indirect channels.
