‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ costumes set for celebrity auction

Fashion enthusiasts will soon have an opportunity to own outfits and accessories featured in The Devil Wears Prada 2.

The 2026 sequel brought back the glamorous fashion world of the franchise. It stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, with Lady Gaga also appearing in the film.

Christie’s is preparing an online auction featuring selected costumes and accessories worn by the cast. Proceeds from the sale will support charities connected to journalism and the fashion industry.

One of the notable pieces going under the hammer is a Gabriela Hearst Niki dress worn by Anne Hathaway’s character, Andrea “Andy” Sachs, during a Hamptons sequence.

The dress has an unusual detail that could make it especially appealing to collectors. It still carries the visible stain created during the movie scene.

The outfit is estimated to fetch between $3,000 and $4,000 at auction.

Another major highlight is a Dries Van Noten tassel jacket worn by Meryl Streep, who reprises her iconic role as Miranda Priestly. The jacket is expected to sell for approximately $4,000 to $6,000.

Emily Blunt’s character, Emily Charlton, is also represented in the collection. An Elsa Peretti bone cuff worn by the actress will be among the accessories available to bidders.

The striking piece has a retail value of around $107,000, making it one of the most eye-catching items in the auction.

The sale will be conducted online through Christie’s, allowing fans and collectors from different parts of the world to participate.

Those who want to view the costumes and accessories in person will also have an opportunity to visit a special exhibition in New York during September.

    KARACHI: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Karachi has arrested a key suspected member of a militant network during an intelligence-based operation, officials said on Thursday. According to a CTD spokesperson, Syed Mehdi Nabvi Abidi, who was listed among the top 10 most-wanted suspects on the MQM-L death squad list, was taken into custody over alleged involvement in planning terrorist activities in Karachi and other parts of the country. Officials said the suspect was wanted in several terrorism-related cases registered in Karachi. During preliminary interrogation, he allegedly disclosed that following the arrest of two of his associates, he and other members of the network had planned attacks in Karachi and other cities. The CTD said the suspect had been nominated in multiple cases dating back to 2004 and 2005, including cases involving the killings of religious scholars and the alleged possession of explosives and other prohibited material. A hand grenade and a loudspeaker were reportedly recovered from his possession during the operation. Following the arrest, CTD Karachi registered two new cases against the suspect. One was registered under the Explosive Substances Act, 1908, read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, while the second was registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act. The department said further interrogation of the suspect is underway. Special teams have also been formed to trace and arrest other alleged facilitators and members of the network based on information obtained during the investigation. The CTD maintained that operations against the network would continue as investigators work to establish the full extent of the suspect’s alleged activities and connections.

    Ducky Bhai urges parents to monitor children’s online content

    ISLAMABAD: Pakistani YouTuber Saadur Rehman, popularly known as Ducky Bhai, has urged parents to take greater responsibility for monitoring their children’s online activities. Speaking during a recent podcast, the content creator responded to criticism directed at YouTubers when children develop what parents consider inappropriate habits. Ducky Bhai said parents should decide what their children watch online. He argued that children are not required to watch any particular YouTuber and that parents have the ability to restrict or monitor their access to digital content. He recalled the restrictions placed on him by his own parents during his childhood. According to the YouTuber, his father closely monitored his computer use and used parental-control software to track the websites and content he accessed. Ducky Bhai said his parents also linked access to games and other forms of entertainment with his academic performance. He used the example to argue that parents today can similarly establish rules for their children’s use of phones, tablets and computers. He also stressed that YouTube should not be treated like a school or an educational requirement. He said viewers have the choice to watch his content or avoid it. The YouTuber also discussed his experience of spending around three months in jail in connection with allegations involving an online gambling application. Ducky Bhai was granted bail in November 2025 after spending approximately 100 days at Camp Jail in Lahore. Reflecting on the experience, he described his time in custody as extremely difficult. He said the limited space and isolation made the period particularly challenging. He recalled being unable to move freely or access recreational facilities available in other parts of the prison. According to Ducky Bhai, prisoners in other areas could spend time outdoors, play sports and use recreational facilities. He said he was not permitted to visit the prison library but requested books during his detention. He also revealed that he began reading newspapers for the first time during his imprisonment. The YouTuber said his time in custody also separated him from the public reaction to his case. He explained that social media feeds generally show recent content, making it difficult to find older posts and determine who had supported or criticised him during his imprisonment. Ducky Bhai also commented on controversies involving fellow content creator Rajab Butt. He suggested that personal disputes should be addressed quickly and privately before they become larger public controversies. He said family elders could play an important role in resolving such disputes. Drawing from his own experience, he said his time in jail made him realise how deeply a public controversy can affect a creator’s family.

    ISLAMABAD: Barrister Uzair Bhandari, representing Dr Uzma Khan, has clarified why Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi was not initially named as a respondent in the contempt of court petition filed before the Supreme Court. Dr Uzma Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, filed the petition in connection with alleged non-compliance with a court order. Questions were subsequently raised over the absence of the interior minister from the list of respondents. In a statement shared on X, Bhandari explained that the respondents were selected on the basis of their alleged involvement, public statements and administrative responsibilities. He said Federal Ministers Azam Nazeer Tarar and Attaullah Tarar were included because they had publicly commented on the relevant court decision and the issue concerning the transfer. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was also named, Bhandari said, in line with the legal principle established by the Supreme Court in the Yousaf Raza Gilani case. Under that precedent, the prime minister carries ultimate administrative responsibility for ensuring compliance with court orders. Regarding Mohsin Naqvi, the lawyer said the interior minister had not made any direct statement about the specific court decision at the time the petition was filed. As a result, there was no immediate basis for including him as a respondent. Bhandari, however, clarified that this does not prevent Naqvi from being added to the proceedings in the future. If relevant evidence emerges during the investigation, or if the Supreme Court considers it necessary, the interior minister could subsequently be made a party to the case. The lawyer also explained the inclusion of the Interior Secretary. Under the Rules of Business, 1973, the Interior Secretary serves as the administrative head of the Interior Division. The secretary was therefore named on the basis of the division’s legal and administrative responsibilities.

    The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has blocked more than 1.54 million URLs linked to prohibited and unlawful content on social media platforms, according to official documents. The documents show that 1,065,671 URLs related to immoral content have been blocked. Another 563 URLs in the same category are under review, while 9,528 have been rejected. In the terrorism-related category, 179,285 URLs were referred for blocking, of which 141,897 URLs have been blocked. A further 23,241 URLs are currently under review. The documents also reveal that 136,891 URLs related to content deemed against the sanctity of Islam were processed by the authority. Similarly, 125,427 URLs concerning content considered against Pakistan’s security and defence were processed. Of these, 74,059 URLs were blocked. The PTA also processed 76,526 URLs under the category of sectarian and hate speech. In the proxy category, the authority processed 10,319 URLs, blocking 10,318 of them. Under the defamation and impersonation category, 44,200 URLs were processed, while 17,356 URLs were blocked. According to the documents, a total of 1,542,800 URLs across various categories have been blocked. Meanwhile, 76,874 URLs remain under review, while 106,629 URLs have been rejected. The figures reflect the PTA’s ongoing efforts to monitor and restrict online content that falls under Pakistan’s prohibited-content regulations.

    US forces to leave Iraqi Kurdistan by September 30

    BAGHDAD: The Iraqi government has announced that US forces will complete their withdrawal from Iraq’s Kurdistan region by September 30, marking another step in the planned transition of the American military mission in the country. According to foreign media reports, Iraqi and US officials held discussions in the Kurdistan region regarding the withdrawal and the transfer of military responsibilities. Under the plan, US military bases in Kurdistan will be handed over to Iraqi security forces following the departure of American personnel. The Iraqi government said the movement of US military equipment and personnel out of the region is already underway. The withdrawal is expected to take place in coordination with Iraqi authorities to ensure an orderly transition. The announcement comes as Baghdad and Washington continue implementing an agreement reached in 2024 on the gradual transition of the US-led military mission in Iraq. The agreement envisaged a phased reduction of the international coalition’s military role while strengthening Iraq’s own security capabilities. US forces have played a significant role in supporting Iraqi forces in the fight against Islamic State militants and in providing training, intelligence and logistical assistance. The latest withdrawal from Kurdistan is therefore likely to attract attention as Iraq assumes greater responsibility for securing military facilities previously used by US forces. The Iraqi government has not provided further details on the exact number of American troops or equipment involved in the latest phase of the withdrawal.
