Ducky Bhai urges parents to monitor children’s online content

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani YouTuber Saadur Rehman, popularly known as Ducky Bhai, has urged parents to take greater responsibility for monitoring their children’s online activities.

Speaking during a recent podcast, the content creator responded to criticism directed at YouTubers when children develop what parents consider inappropriate habits.

Ducky Bhai said parents should decide what their children watch online. He argued that children are not required to watch any particular YouTuber and that parents have the ability to restrict or monitor their access to digital content.

He recalled the restrictions placed on him by his own parents during his childhood. According to the YouTuber, his father closely monitored his computer use and used parental-control software to track the websites and content he accessed.

Ducky Bhai said his parents also linked access to games and other forms of entertainment with his academic performance. He used the example to argue that parents today can similarly establish rules for their children’s use of phones, tablets and computers.

He also stressed that YouTube should not be treated like a school or an educational requirement. He said viewers have the choice to watch his content or avoid it.

The YouTuber also discussed his experience of spending around three months in jail in connection with allegations involving an online gambling application.

Ducky Bhai was granted bail in November 2025 after spending approximately 100 days at Camp Jail in Lahore. Reflecting on the experience, he described his time in custody as extremely difficult.

He said the limited space and isolation made the period particularly challenging. He recalled being unable to move freely or access recreational facilities available in other parts of the prison.

According to Ducky Bhai, prisoners in other areas could spend time outdoors, play sports and use recreational facilities. He said he was not permitted to visit the prison library but requested books during his detention.

He also revealed that he began reading newspapers for the first time during his imprisonment.

The YouTuber said his time in custody also separated him from the public reaction to his case. He explained that social media feeds generally show recent content, making it difficult to find older posts and determine who had supported or criticised him during his imprisonment.

Ducky Bhai also commented on controversies involving fellow content creator Rajab Butt. He suggested that personal disputes should be addressed quickly and privately before they become larger public controversies.

He said family elders could play an important role in resolving such disputes. Drawing from his own experience, he said his time in jail made him realise how deeply a public controversy can affect a creator’s family.

She later passed away peacefully and was cremated in Honolulu.  Born on June 2, 1943, in Iloilo, Philippines, Rivera later settled in Hawaii, where she built a life centered on family, education and community service. Before making her Hollywood debut, she worked as a teacher, radio broadcaster and church missionary. Her family said she was incredibly proud to represent the Filipino community in one of Marvel’s biggest films and cherished the opportunity to share the screen with stars including Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire.  Tributes have continued to pour in from fans and colleagues following the announcement of her passing. Jacob Batalon honored his on-screen grandmother with a heartfelt social media message, writing, “Rest in paradise Lola.” Many fans also praised Rivera for bringing Filipino culture and the Tagalog language to a global audience through her unforgettable scene in the film.  Rivera is survived by her husband, Alejandro Rivera, four children, 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. While her acting career was brief, her warmth, authenticity and pride in her heritage made her performance truly unforgettable. Her role in Spider-Man: No Way Home remains a touching reminder that even a small part can leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of millions.

    Imran Khan returns to Bollywood after 10 years

    Imran Khan is stepping back into the spotlight. After ten years away from acting, he has confirmed his return with a brand-new Netflix film. He broke the news himself in a recent interview. He said he just finished shooting his first movie in a decade. The film is called Adhure Hum Adhure Tum. It is expected to premiere on Netflix later this year. Khan described the film as a mature romantic comedy. He said it reflects where he is in life today, rather than trying to relive his earlier on-screen image. Fans have waited a long time for this. His last major role was in Katti Batti back in 2015, where he starred alongside Kangana Ranaut. He also appeared briefly in Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos. For this new chapter, Khan will star alongside young actor Gurfateh Pirzada. He is also reuniting with director Danish Aslam, someone he has worked closely with in the past. Speaking about the collaboration, Khan said it felt like a natural next step for both of them. He compared it to picturing what the characters from Break Ke Baad might be doing fifteen years later. He pointed out how much life experience he and Aslam now share. Aslam has since gotten married. Khan has been through a divorce. That shared growth, he said, shaped the story they wanted to tell. He also called the project deeply personal. It was not driven by pressure to make a comeback, he explained, but by a genuine creative pull and the chance to work with people he trusts. As for timing, Khan confirmed filming has already wrapped. The film is currently in post-production. He said the release date will depend on when Netflix finalizes its schedule. Indian media outlets have already labelled this one of Bollywood’s most anticipated returns.     Constitutional provisions fuel referendum debate

    Debate over the possibility of holding a national referendum has resurfaced in Pakistan, prompting discussions among political observers and constitutional experts about the legal framework governing such a move. Although the government has made no official announcement regarding a referendum, speculation in political circles has raised questions about when and how a nationwide vote can be conducted under the Constitution. Constitutional experts say Articles 48(6) and 48(7) of the Constitution empower the prime minister to propose a referendum on a matter of national importance. Under Article 48(6), the prime minister may refer such a proposal to a joint sitting of Parliament. If approved by the joint session, the matter can be presented to the public through a referendum in the form of a “Yes” or “No” question. Article 48(7) further provides that Parliament may legislate the procedure for conducting a referendum and determining its results. Legal experts note that, unlike a constitutional amendment, such legislation does not require a two-thirds majority and can be passed through a simple majority of members present, provided the quorum is complete. The renewed debate has also revived interest in the history of referendums in Pakistan. The concept first gained prominence during the political crisis that followed the March 7, 1977 general elections. Opposition parties, united under the Pakistan National Alliance (PNA), rejected the election results, alleging widespread rigging. They later boycotted provincial assembly elections and launched a nationwide protest movement demanding fresh elections, dissolution of assemblies and the resignation of then-prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. Despite mediation efforts by Saudi Arabia, negotiations between the government and the opposition failed, and the political deadlock culminated in the imposition of martial law by General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq on July 5, 1977. Following these developments, constitutional provisions allowing referendums were introduced through the Seventh Constitutional Amendment. Pakistan’s first referendum was held on December 19, 1984, during General Zia-ul-Haq’s rule. While the public was asked to vote on the continuation of the Islamization process, a “Yes” vote effectively extended Zia’s presidency for another five years. Official results declared overwhelming support for the proposal, though opposition parties questioned both the process and the outcome. A second nationwide referendum was held in April 2002 under General Pervez Musharraf. The exercise enabled him to secure another five-year presidential term before the general elections later that year. After the 2002 elections, Musharraf was formally elected president by an electoral college comprising Parliament and the four provincial assemblies under the framework established through the Seventeenth Constitutional Amendment. Political analysts say recent discussions intensified after comments made during a media briefing by the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), whose carefully worded responses to questions on constitutional matters drew public attention.

    Trump claims US controls Iran’s finances

    WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has claimed that Washington has control over Iran’s financial resources as the conflict between the United States and Iran continues. In an interview, Trump said the US was effectively acting as a banker for Iran. He claimed Washington had control over a large amount of Iranian money. Trump also described Iran’s economic situation as extremely difficult. He alleged that the country was facing very high inflation and that its currency had lost much of its value. The US president further claimed that Iran was struggling to pay its soldiers and suggested that the economic pressure could become increasingly difficult for Tehran to sustain. Trump outlined several possible approaches toward Iran. He said Washington could maintain the current economic pressure, launch further military action or rely more heavily on financial measures. He said his main objective in the conflict was to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. Trump also claimed that US military action had stopped Tehran from obtaining such a capability. Qatar urges reopening of Strait of Hormuz Meanwhile, Qatar said talks between Iran and Oman on arrangements for reopening the Strait of Hormuz had reached an advanced stage. Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari said the negotiations had reached a critical point. He expressed hope that the strategically important waterway would reopen as soon as possible. Qatar said it supports diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and resolving the dispute. Iran and Oman have been discussing legal and technical arrangements for the resumption of maritime traffic through the strait. Shipping activity in the area has been disrupted following the military confrontation between Iran and the United States. Tehran has linked the reopening of the waterway to the resolution of disputes surrounding what it describes as US violations of a June memorandum of understanding. Araghchi says US sought negotiations Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has claimed that Washington eventually sought negotiations with Tehran after initially demanding Iran’s unconditional surrender. Speaking during a televised press conference, Araghchi said the US had initially taken a hard-line position but later sought talks. He claimed that the change demonstrated Iran’s ability to withstand military and political pressure. Araghchi also said Iran had surprised countries around the world by resisting the United States. The Iranian foreign minister said Washington had support from Israel and several Western countries during the conflict. He also discussed the situation with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul during a telephone conversation. According to Iranian state media, Araghchi told his German counterpart that the insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz was the result of US and Israeli military actions against Iran. He briefed Wadephul on Iran’s discussions with Oman regarding the creation of a safe route for maritime traffic through the strategic waterway. The two officials also discussed bilateral relations and wider regional and international developments. Araghchi called on the international community to hold Washington accountable for what he described as the security and economic consequences of the disruption in the Strait of Hormuz. He maintained that lasting security in the waterway would require an end to what Tehran considers US military aggression, maritime restrictions and violations of previous commitments.
