TikToker Ayesha Shamsu’s murder case solved

Police have claimed to have solved the murder case of TikToker Ayesha Shamsu in Taxila, saying she was allegedly killed by her father, brother and cousin in the name of so-called honour.

Rawalpindi SSP Operations Tariq Mehboob said during a press conference that Ayesha Gulamna, also identified as Ayesha Shamsu, was allegedly targeted by her family members because they objected to her activities on TikTok.

According to the police official, the suspects were identified with the help of surveillance cameras and other technological tools. Ayesha was shot dead in Taxila on the evening of August 14.

Her sister and brother were also wounded when the suspects allegedly opened fire.

Police said they have arrested the alleged main suspect and two shooters in connection with the killing. A total of five suspects, including Ayesha’s father, have been taken into custody.

The initial investigation suggested that Ayesha’s family disapproved of her presence and activities on social media. Police said the family had previously attempted to stop her from using TikTok, but she continued her online activities.

The suspects allegedly decided to kill her after their attempts to prevent her from using the platform failed.

SSP Tariq Mehboob said further legal proceedings would be initiated against the suspects and a formal challan would be submitted before the court.

Police have vowed to pursue the case and ensure that those responsible for the killing face legal consequences.

Record rainfall strands thousands at Japan Airport…

TOKYO: Record-breaking rainfall in Japan’s Chiba prefecture left thousands of travellers stranded at Tokyo’s Narita International Airport, disrupted roads and rail services and claimed at least eight lives, as emergency crews and soldiers joined relief efforts on Friday. More than 360 millimetres of rain fell within 24 hours in parts of Chiba, an area adjoining Tokyo, triggering widespread flooding during one of Japan’s busiest holiday periods. Authorities said the downpour also disrupted power supplies, leaving more than 20,000 homes without electricity. The eight fatalities included a person who was reportedly trapped inside a submerged vehicle, according to Japanese public broadcaster NHK, citing local authorities and police. The unprecedented rainfall caused major disruption at Narita airport, where around 7,000 passengers were stranded after transport services were severely affected. Airport staff provided sleeping bags, drinking water and snacks as travellers spent the night inside terminals. Minoru Yamasaki, a 48-year-old Chiba resident returning from holiday, described the difficult situation, saying he waited about four hours for a taxi before returning to the airport after a hotel could not accommodate him. Airport officials said most flights were expected to operate normally on Friday, although transport links remained affected. Several railway services were suspended, while some trains connecting Narita with Tokyo resumed, helping reduce congestion around the international airport. Major highways in Chiba were also closed, forcing motorists onto alternative routes and creating severe traffic jams. In Chiba city, among the worst-hit areas, hundreds of residents spent the night at temporary evacuation centres in government buildings. Tokyo Electric Power reported that flooding at a power substation contributed to widespread outages. Gas supplies to nearly 13,000 households were also temporarily disrupted. Chiba Governor Toshihito Kumagai described the situation as extremely unusual, saying he had never experienced a disaster of this scale. Weather authorities said 367mm of rain was recorded over 24 hours, surpassing the previous Chiba record of 309mm set in October 2013. With further disruption possible, authorities continued rescue and recovery operations while urging residents to remain alert to flooding and other weather-related hazards.

Commandant Police Training College Hangu, Shaukat Abbas, Deputy Commissioner Basir Ali Rehman, senior police officials and a large number of citizens attended the funeral. Floral wreaths were laid on the coffins of the martyrs in recognition of their supreme sacrifice. After the funeral, the bodies were dispatched to their native towns for burial with full official honours. According to police officials, terrorists belonging to the banned Fitna Al-Khawarij launched a coordinated assault on the Khazina Banda Check Post late Tuesday night. The attackers reportedly used quadcopters before laying siege to the check post. Police personnel stationed at the post resisted the assault bravely and continued fighting until the last moment. Upon receiving information about the attack, DSP City Diyar Khan led a reinforcement party comprising personnel from the Elite Force, RRF and Al-Barq Force. However, the police convoy was ambushed near the Khazina Banda Bridge, where heavily armed militants had already taken positions. Despite the surprise attack, the police fought courageously in defence of the country. The attack claimed the lives of 10 police personnel, including DSP Diyar Khan, while around 30 others were injured. Police officials said that during the exchange of fire, 12 to 15 terrorists were killed or wounded, and their accomplices reportedly carried the casualties towards the Zargari area. Following the incident, police and security forces launched a large scale search operation in the area. Funeral prayers for the martyrs were also held in their respective hometowns. Police Constable Nadeem was laid to rest in Sheikhan, while Constable Sanaullah was buried in Lachi, both with full state honours. Smartly turned out police contingents presented ceremonial salutes, and senior police officers, political leaders, social figures and hundreds of residents attended the funerals. Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi paid a brief visit to Hangu and stayed at the Police Club, where he offered prayers for the departed souls of the martyrs and the early recovery of the injured personnel. However, the Chief Minister left Hangu without visiting the injured policemen undergoing treatment in hospital. His decision not to meet the wounded officers has drawn criticism and raised questions in various circles, as several injured personnel remain admitted to hospitals following the attack. In contrast, Additional IG Elite Force Muhammad Ali Gandapur visited the hospital to inquire about the health of the injured policemen. He was accompanied by Regional Commander Elite Hafiz Nazir and DSP CTD Imranuddin. Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed, Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, and Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Tariq Saeed Marwat also visited the hospital and met the injured officers. Speaking to the media, IG Zulfiqar Hameed said the police fought the terrorists with exceptional courage for several hours despite facing drone attacks. He stated that 12 to 14 terrorists were killed during the operation and confirmed that all injured policemen were in stable condition and receiving the best available medical treatment. The IG announced that recommendations would be forwarded for gallantry awards, including the Tamgha-e-Shujaat, for the martyrs and other officers who displayed extraordinary bravery during the operation. He vowed that those responsible for the attack would be brought to justice. Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah praised the courage of the police force, saying their sacrifice demonstrated their unwavering commitment to protecting the people despite grave danger. He also appreciated the district administration and hospital management for ensuring timely medical treatment for the injured. Special Assistant Tariq Saeed Marwat reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to supporting the police force financially and administratively. He said the nature of terrorism had evolved with the use of drones, adding that the government was working to equip the police with anti drone technology and other modern capabilities to effectively counter emerging security threats.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day star Jacob Batalon revea…

Jacob Batalon is shining a spotlight on one of the most talked-about additions to Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The actor, who reprises his beloved role as Ned Leeds, recently opened up about the film’s innovative “Spidey Tracker” and explained why the feature perfectly reflects his character’s personality. Speaking to People magazine, Batalon shared that Ned’s intelligence has always been one of his defining qualities, making the new technology a natural extension of his journey.  “I think what’s really cool about Ned is that they never really lost his intelligence,” Batalon said during the interview. Since making his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Ned has been known as Peter Parker’s trusted “guy in the chair,” using his technical skills to help Spider-Man behind the scenes. Even after the emotional events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the latest film continues to showcase Ned’s sharp mind in a fresh and exciting way.  In Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Ned develops the Spidey Tracker, an app designed to help locate Spider-Man across New York City. Ironically, because of Doctor Strange’s memory spell in No Way Home, Ned no longer remembers that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. As a result, he unknowingly spends his time tracking his former best friend without realizing their shared history. The emotional twist adds another layer to the character while staying true to the franchise’s ongoing storyline.  Beyond its role in the movie, the Spidey Tracker has also become a real-world experience for fans. Sony Pictures and Samsung partnered to launch an interactive version of the tracker, allowing fans to follow Spider-Man-themed events, explore global sightings, and connect with the film’s promotional campaign. Batalon praised the collaboration, saying Samsung’s foldable devices fit perfectly with Ned’s tech-loving personality and made the fictional app feel even more believable.  The actor also reflected on how much the Spider-Man franchise has meant to him over the past decade. Batalon expressed gratitude for growing alongside Tom Holland and Zendaya, describing his co-stars as family. He said the films not only shaped his career but also allowed him to build lasting friendships both on and off the screen.  Ned has long been a fan favorite because of his humor, loyalty, and intelligence, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues to build on those strengths. Rather than changing who the character is, the new film gives him another opportunity to showcase the skills that audiences have loved since 2017. With the Spidey Tracker serving as both a clever story element and an engaging fan experience, Batalon believes the feature captures everything that makes Ned special. As Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues its successful theatrical run, Batalon’s latest comments offer fans a deeper appreciation for one of the franchise’s most relatable characters. His enthusiasm for Ned’s evolution suggests there is still plenty of room for the character to grow in future Marvel adventures.

Daniel Siad, modelling scout with ties to Epstein,…

Daniel Siad, a modelling scout whose name appeared nearly 2,000 times in the Epstein files released by the US Department of Justice, was found dead at his home outside Paris on Wednesday, prosecutors said. His body was reportedly discovered in the kitchen by a woman staying with him, and a neighbor reportedly attempted CPR without success. Siad’s death comes amid a wide-ranging probe into human trafficking and tax fraud opened in February following the release of the Epstein files. Since the investigation began, 24 women have come forward as victims or witnesses of alleged acts committed by Siad or others, Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau said in a statement. As part of the probe, Siad had been subjected to special scrutiny, though he had repeatedly proclaimed his innocence. Siad’s lawyer, Arab-Tigrine, told Reuters that Siad had asked on several occasions to be heard by French judicial authorities, but that no action was taken. She confirmed that Siad had died of a heart attack. Siad is the second man publicly linked to Epstein who has died in France. In 2020, French authorities arrested modelling agent Jean-Luc Brunel after allegations he procured women for Epstein. Brunel was found hanged in his prison cell in 2022, having spent 14 months in custody awaiting trial on charges of rape of minors and sexual harassment. He denied the charges, along with any participation in Epstein’s sex trafficking. The Epstein files, released by the US Department of Justice, have revealed extensive connections between the late financier and individuals in the modelling and entertainment industries. Epstein, who died in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, had a long history of exploiting young women and maintaining a network of powerful associates. The release of these documents has reignited debates about accountability and the extent of Epstein’s influence. Siad’s death raises questions about the circumstances surrounding his passing and the ongoing investigation into his activities. His lawyer’s statement that he had sought to be heard by authorities suggests a desire to clear his name, but his sudden death has left many unanswered questions. The French authorities have not yet released further details about the investigation into Siad’s activities, but the probe continues as more victims and witnesses come forward. The deaths of Brunel and Siad have drawn attention to the high-profile individuals connected to Epstein who have died under unusual circumstances. While both men denied the allegations against them, their deaths have fueled speculation about the extent of Epstein’s network and the pressure faced by those connected to him. As the investigation continues, the public will be watching closely for any further developments in the case. Siad’s death marks another chapter in the ongoing saga of the Epstein scandal, which has exposed the dark underbelly of the modelling and entertainment industries and raised questions about the accountability of those who enabled Epstein’s crimes. The investigation into Siad’s activities and the broader network of individuals connected to Epstein is likely to continue, with the hope of bringing justice to the victims and shedding further light on the extent of Epstein’s influence.
