Vikas Gupta reignites feud with Shilpa Shinde on Lock Upp

The long-running tension between television personalities Vikas Gupta and Shilpa Shinde resurfaced during the finale week of Lock Upp, reigniting memories of their widely discussed rivalry from Bigg Boss 11. While the two have shared a strained relationship for years, their latest on-screen confrontation once again became one of the most talked-about moments of the reality show.

As part of a special task during the finale week, Vikas Gupta entered the show and directly addressed Shilpa Shinde over comments she had made earlier in the season. Instead of offering support, Vikas strongly criticized her behavior and accused her of repeatedly spreading negativity.

During the heated exchange, Vikas questioned Shilpa’s conduct, saying she had made offensive remarks about fellow contestant Shivangi and had also made inappropriate comments involving actor Ram Kapoor. He argued that her statements crossed the line and were not harmless jokes, adding that such behavior reflected a pattern that had not changed over the years.

The confrontation became more intense when Vikas accused Shilpa of discussing another person’s private life and virginity on national television. He expressed disappointment over the topic being brought into public conversation and said such discussions should never be used for entertainment. According to him, personal matters deserve respect, regardless of disagreements between contestants.

Vikas also criticized content creator Shreya Kalra, who had supported Shilpa during the earlier conversation. He questioned why others chose to back remarks that he believed were inappropriate and disrespectful.

Shilpa, however, defended herself during the exchange. She explained that the information she referred to had already been circulating on social media and claimed she was only repeating what she had come across online. According to Shilpa, she was merely stating what she believed to be true, leaving it up to viewers to interpret her comments as they wished.

Despite her explanation, the incident sparked fresh debate among viewers, with many discussing the limits of personal commentary in reality television. Social media users remained divided, with some supporting Vikas’ stance that contestants should avoid discussing private matters, while others believed Shilpa was simply referring to publicly available rumors.

The clash also reminded fans of the bitter rivalry that began during Bigg Boss 11, where the two contestants frequently locked horns throughout the season. Although Shilpa Shinde went on to win the show, her relationship with Vikas Gupta never appeared to recover, and the latest confrontation suggested that their differences remain unresolved.

As Lock Upp approaches its finale, the emotional exchange has added another layer of drama to the competition. Whether the confrontation will influence audience opinion or remain just another chapter in the duo’s long-standing feud remains to be seen, but it has undoubtedly become one of the standout moments of the season.

Slash achieves lifelong goal as new snake species …

Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash has reached a milestone that even one of rock music’s biggest stars could hardly have imagined. A newly discovered species of snake has been named after him, giving the legendary musician a surprising connection to the world of science. The new species has been officially named Lielaphis slashi. It was discovered in New Guinea and is a nonvenomous ground snake with dark brown scales and a lighter-colored underside. Scientists at Chicago’s Field Museum announced the discovery and explained that the species was named in honor of Slash’s lifelong passion for reptiles. (People.com) For Slash, the honor has a deeply personal meaning. The guitarist has been fascinated by reptiles since childhood and has long supported zoos, museums and natural-history organizations. “I am extremely honored and humbled,” Slash said while reacting to the news. He also admitted that he never imagined such a moment would happen, making the recognition even more special. (People.com) The connection between Slash and snakes is hardly new. His interest in reptiles has been part of his identity for decades. In fact, his passion helped inspire the name of his rock project Slash’s Snakepit, the group he formed in 1994. The scientist behind the naming also had a personal connection to the guitarist. Sara Ruane, associate curator of herpetology at the Field Museum and senior author of the research paper, said she had been a Guns N’ Roses fan since childhood. Ruane recalled seeing Slash featured with a pet python when she was young. She was fascinated by his love of reptiles and his support for museums and zoos. Those memories eventually helped inspire her to consider the guitarist as a fitting namesake for the new species. (People.com) The discovery marks an unusual but fitting milestone for the rock star. Slash has spent decades building a reputation as one of the most recognizable guitarists in music, but his influence now extends into an entirely different field. Unlike a music award or chart achievement, having a species named after him celebrates something much more personal. It recognizes an interest that Slash has carried since childhood and maintained throughout his career. The discovery also highlights how science and popular culture can unexpectedly meet. For Slash, the moment is more than a quirky headline. It is a lifelong passion coming full circle. After years of playing some of rock’s biggest stages, Slash now has another remarkable legacy: a species in New Guinea carrying his name.

Police constable martyred, another wounded in Lakk…

A police constable was martyred and another sustained injuries after unidentified gunmen opened fire on a police patrol in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district on Sunday. The attack took place near the old police lines within the jurisdiction of Lakki City police station, where the officers were performing patrol duties as part of the City Rider Squad. Police officials said Constable Sajidullah received critical injuries during the firing. He later succumbed to his wounds. Constable Muhammad Waqas was also injured and was taken to a hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment. Following the incident, police teams immediately sealed off the area and launched a search operation to locate those responsible for the attack. Security personnel are also examining the crime scene and collecting evidence that could help investigators identify the attackers. Lakki Marwat District Police Officer Shehbaz Elahi visited the site and reviewed the situation with senior officers. He was briefed about the circumstances surrounding the attack and the steps taken by police following the incident. The DPO directed investigators to use modern forensic and investigative methods and mobilise all available resources to track down the suspects. He also ordered authorities to strengthen security arrangements to protect both law-enforcement personnel and civilians. Officials said attacks against police officers would not be tolerated and that every effort would be made to bring those behind the assault to justice. The latest incident comes amid a series of attacks against security personnel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The province has witnessed a rise in militant violence in recent weeks, prompting security forces and police to intensify operations against armed groups. Earlier this month, several police personnel were killed in a suicide attack outside a police station in Swat. In separate incidents in Hangu and Dera Ismail Khan, police officers were also targeted in attacks. The continuing violence has increased concerns over the security situation across parts of the province, particularly areas close to the former tribal districts and the Afghan border. Security officials have maintained that intensified intelligence-based operations are being conducted to prevent militant attacks and dismantle networks involved in violence against law-enforcement agencies.

HSA controversy: representation before president a…

Islamabad: A representation submitted before the President of Pakistan has requested an early decision in a workplace harassment case involving Dr. Shahzad Ali Khan and Dr. Ayesha Khan, after the applicant claimed the matter remained pending despite the completion of hearings. The application was addressed to the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan through the Secretary to the President, seeking directions for an early decision on Representation No. 18/WO/2026 pending before the Consultant to the President. According to the application, the Federal Ombudsperson for Protection Against Harassment of Women at Workplace (FOSPAH) issued an order on 13 February 2026, dismissing Dr. Shahzad Ali Khan’s complaint and ordering his removal from service. The applicant later filed a representation under Section 9 of the Protection Against Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2010. The representation states that both parties appeared before the Consultant to the President and presented their arguments. After hearing the matter, the Consultant reserved the decision on 12 May 2026, but according to the application, the final decision has not yet been announced. The applicant argued that unnecessary delay in deciding the representation is increasing difficulties and hardship, requesting that the matter be decided without further delay according to legal principles of timely justice. The case relates to proceedings under the workplace harassment law involving Dr. Shahzad Ali Khan and Dr. Ayesha Khan. The President Secretariat had earlier issued hearing notices regarding the representation against the FOSPAH order dated 13 February 2026 in Complaint No. FOH HQR H/0341/2025. The President Secretariat scheduled hearings before Mr. Justice (Retired) Irfan Qadir, Consultant Legal Affairs to the President, first on 2 April 2026 and later refixed the matter for 12 May 2026. The notices stated that the matter would be decided on the basis of available record. The dispute has attracted attention because the representation challenges a previous order passed by FOSPAH, while the final decision on the pending matter remains awaited. The available record shows that filing a representation does not itself establish innocence or final relief. The matter remains subject to examination under the applicable legal process, and the final outcome depends on the decision of the competent authority.

Nawaz Sharif heading LHAR to give old Lahore a new…

Lahore’s old city is going through a major change under a heritage revival plan, and the project has now been placed directly under the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League-(N) leader Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. According to a recent notification issued by the Punjab government’s Local Government and Community Development Department, Nawaz Sharif has been made chairman of the newly formed board of the Lahore Heritage Area Revival project, also known as (LHAR) and patron-in-chief of the Punjab Walled Cities and Heritage Areas Authority (PWCHAA) Earlier, Nawaz Sharif only held the position of chief patron of the project. This meant he could give advice but had no formal powers. Under the new rules, the project’s legal structure has been changed, and a proper board has been formed. This board is now headed directly by the three-time former prime minister. The notification was published in the Punjab Gazette on July 23. It was issued under Section 8-A of the Punjab Walled Cities and Heritage Areas Authority Act 2012. The notification was approved by the governor of Punjab. With this change, the Lahore Heritage Area Revival Board has been formally established. The board now has full executive and administrative powers. Officials say this step was taken to remove bureaucratic delays in restoring the city’s historic fabric. The heritage revival areas cover Mughal, Sikh and colonial-era sites. Details of the ongoing work will be shared soon. Several government departments are working together on the project. These include the Traffic Engineering and Planning Agency, known as TEPA, C&W and PWCHAA. TEPA is handling infrastructure work, such as building basements and parking. The PWCHAA is handling the restoration of old buildings. A major part of the plan is to turn old city streets into pedestrian zones. This includes the route from New Anarkali to Paan Gali in Lohari. It also includes Bora Bazaar, which has Bakshi Market inside it. Another walking route will run from Kacheri Chowk to Anarkali and then onward to Neela Gumbad. To name a few. Many buildings along these routes are old. All of them are being restored as part of the project. One of the biggest parts of the plan is a new public space called Neela Gumbad Square, where a two-floor underground parking garage is being built; it will become a place for families to walk and gather. Fountains and seating areas will be added. The Parks and Horticulture Authority will help plant trees and grass in the area. Other nearby heritage sites are also being restored. These include Ewing Hall and the first Bank of India building. The mosque near Neela Gumbad is also being renovated, while some roads nearby will be closed for traffic. LHAR spokesperson also responded to earlier criticism in media reports, where past reports only mentioned TEPA, even though other departments were also doing important work on the ground. The project now has a monitoring cell in place to track progress and check timely completion. The spokesperson further said that shopkeepers near Neela Gumbad were paid compensation a year before their shops were relocated. The officials had collected data on each shop’s daily business and income before deciding how much compensation to give; this was done so shopkeepers would not lose their livelihood during construction. With Nawaz Sharif now in the driving seat and his past records of completing mega projects on time, officials believe the project will move forward faster. The government says the goal is to restore Lahore’s historic buildings and streets while creating new public spaces for residents and visitors.
