you keep opening

Why you keep opening the fridge

Have you ever opened the fridge looked inside for a few seconds closed it without taking anything and then returned a short time later to do the same thing?

If so you’re not alone.

Psychologists say this habit is usually not caused by hunger.  Instead it is often linked to the way the brain responds to boredom routine and the search for something enjoyable.

Experts explain that when people feel bored or mentally tired the brain looks for something that brings quick pleasure.  Foods high in sugar fat or salt can create a temporary feeling of comfort and satisfaction.

As a result people may walk to the fridge without even realizing why. Opening the fridge can also become part of a daily routine. After spending time working on a computer or taking a short break many people automatically head to the kitchen even if they are not hungry.

Another reason is curiosity. The brain hopes there might be something new or exciting inside such as a favorite dessert leftover food or a snack that was forgotten.

Experts compare this behavior to checking a phone again and again for new messages even when you know there may not be any.

Psychologists say habits often follow a simple pattern: a trigger a routine and a reward. For example feeling bored or finishing a task can trigger the habit of opening the fridge.

Even if no food is eaten the action itself can provide a brief sense of interest or relief.

People who work from home or spend long hours alone may be more likely to develop this habit because boredom can sometimes feel similar to hunger.

Experts also say the environment plays an important role.  A bright kitchen a fridge that is easy to reach or food that is clearly visible can make people more likely to open the fridge.

The next time you find yourself opening the fridge again, ask yourself one simple question “Am I really hungry or am I just looking for something to do?”

According to psychologists the answer may surprise you.

  • Why does your nose get blocked at night?

Do you breathe normally during the day but find your nose getting blocked as soon as you lie down at night?  This is a common problem for many people. A blocked nose can disturb sleep force you to breathe through your mouth and leave you with a dry mouth or sore  throat in the morning. Many people think a blocked nose is only caused by a cold but doctors say there can be several other reasons. Your sleeping position One of the most common reasons is the position of your body while sleeping.  During the day when you are sitting or standing gravity helps mucus drain from the nose. When you lie down mucus can collect inside the nasal passages making the nose feel blocked and making breathing more difficult. Natural changes at night The body also goes through natural changes during sleep.  Hormone levels and nerve activity can affect the blood vessels and tissues inside the nose. These changes may increase swelling or mucus in the nasal passages. People who already have allergies or nasal inflammation may notice the problem more strongly at night. Allergies in the bedroom Allergies can be another major reason for nighttime nasal blockage.  If your nose becomes blocked mainly after going to bed check your sleeping environment. Dust, bedding, pillows, curtains and carpets can contain tiny dust mites that may trigger allergies.  Damp walls and mold can also cause sneezing, itching and a blocked nose. Regularly washing bedding cleaning the room and keeping the sleeping area dry may help reduce these triggers. Acid reflux can also play a role Acid reflux may also cause problems at night. Eating a heavy meal and lying down soon afterward can allow stomach acid to move toward the throat. This may cause throat irritation and sometimes a feeling of nasal blockage. If you also experience heartburn a sour taste in the mouth frequent throat clearing or a burning throat in the morning it is better to speak with a doctor. Simple ways to feel better If you wake up with a blocked nose a saline nasal rinse may help clear mucus and make breathing easier.  Use a properly prepared saline solution and follow safe instructions when rinsing the nose. If your throat feels irritated gargling with warm salt water may provide some relief. Good oral hygiene is also important for overall mouth and throat health. When should you see a doctor? Occasional nasal blockage is usually not a major concern. However you should not ignore it if your nose is blocked every night or your sleep is regularly disturbed. See a doctor if you have persistent sneezing, facial pain headaches fever breathing difficulty or ongoing nasal discharge. Finding the real cause of nighttime nasal blockage can help improve both your sleep and breathing.

  • Marriage can change couples personalities, study reveals

Marriage is often described as a situation where “those who marry regret it and those who do not marry regret that too.” Now, scientists have revealed a surprising effect that marriage can have on couples. According to researchers, the first two years of marriage can bring significant changes to the personalities of newly married couples. A joint study by the University of Georgia and the University of California found that personality changes during the first two years of marriage can have important long-term effects on marital relationships. According to the study, newlyweds experience noticeable changes in their personalities and these changes can influence their satisfaction with their relationship with their spouse. The research found that during the first 18 months of marriage, husbands tend to become more dependent on their wives and increasingly focus their attention on their wives rather than the outside world. The study also found that wives experienced reductions in anxiety, depression, feelings of inferiority, restlessness and stress. These positive personality changes were observed among couples of different age groups. However, researchers also noted one negative development: compatibility between husbands and wives tended to decrease. The researchers said that, overall, the findings show that men and women undergo significant personality changes soon after marriage and these changes can be important for developing a healthy long-term relationship. The findings of the study were published in the journal Developmental Psychology. Spousal support and stress Earlier, a study conducted by Binghamton University in the United States in April 2024 found that feeling a lack of support from a spouse can increase physical stress. This feeling can raise levels of cortisol, a hormone associated with stress. Cortisol works with parts of the brain involved in regulating mood, motivation and behaviour. Researchers said that people’s perceptions of their spouse’s support become stronger over time allowing them to predict how their partner is likely to behave in different situations. They further noted that support from a spouse is more important than people may expect.

  • 3 Minutes of running may boost health

Want to lower your risk of obesity type 2 diabetes and other long term health problems as you get older?  A new study suggests that even a few minutes of running each day may trigger important changes in the body. Researchers at Rockefeller University found that short bursts of running can cause major changes in the body that may not happen in the same way after longer periods of moderate exercise. The study analyzed health data from more than 53,000 people. Researchers found that six short bursts of running each lasting about 30 seconds, could quickly change the levels of nearly one quarter of the proteins measured in the blood. Short runs trigger changes in the body The researchers found that running affected more than 200 metabolites which are substances produced during the body’s chemical processes. Short intense exercise also increased certain proteins linked to blood vessel function tissue repair and hormone signaling. Some of these proteins can help send signals through the bloodstream and may support better blood flow. Running may support metabolic health The study also looked at how fat cells respond after running. Researchers found noticeable changes in these cells following short periods of exercise. Interestingly 90 minutes of moderate exercise did not produce the same immediate response seen after the short running sessions. The researchers believe that the proteins activated by running may be linked to a lower risk of cardiovascular and metabolic problems. These changes may be especially useful in reducing the risk of conditions such as obesity and type 2 diabetes. Exercise intensity may matter One important finding was that the body’s response was not simply about exercising for a long time.  The intensity of the activity appeared to have a strong effect on certain proteins. Researchers also observed similar responses during an eight week training period, suggesting that these changes may not be limited to a single workout. The findings highlight an encouraging message you may not need a long workout to get your body moving. Even short bursts of running can trigger powerful biological responses. However people with health conditions or those who are not used to intense exercise should start gradually and seek medical advice when needed.

  • Important of Diplomacy in Modern Conflicts

By Dhani Bux Wassan Peace cannot be kept by force it can be achieved by understanding (Albert Einstein). In an increasingly interconnected world, disputes and tensions among nations have become more complex, involving geopolitical rivalries, ethnic and religious conflicts, ideological differences, civil unrest, and cyber warfare. These challenges threaten global peace and stability, and destroy the hustle and bustle of cities, turning them into ashes. These assaults lead to violence against innocent people . Amidst humanitarian crises and violence, diplomacy plays a crucial role in maintaining global peace, stability, and mutual prosperity among nations. Diplomacy is the most effective way to mediate disputes among nations through negotiations and table talks, preventing major conflicts and saving thousands of innocent lives. It is a manifestation of wisdom and dialogue. Modern conflicts are far more violent and complex than traditional wars. They arise from the struggle for power, competition over resources, territorial disputes, political instability, nationalism, separatism, and economic inequality. These conflicts have transformed cities into ruins, leaving streets littered with debris and countless lives lost. Millions of people have been displaced, deprived of education, healthcare, and shelter, and forced to live in extreme poverty. They have also left mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, and children waiting in vain for their loved ones who never returned from the battlefield. Now, let us turn our attention to the Israel–Palestine war. Since October 7, 2023, the conflict has continued for more than 1,000 days. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, more than 73,000 Palestinians have lost their lives, while millions have been displaced and face severe humanitarian conditions. Similarly, the Russia–Ukraine war has continued for more than 1,600 days. The conflict has destroyed homes, schools, hospitals, and vital infrastructure, forcing millions to flee their homes and seek refuge in neighboring countries. History reminds us that when regional conflicts escalate into world wars, the world loses its path to peace. The First and Second World Wars claimed millions of lives and devastated entire nations. If diplomacy fails and violence prevails, humanity risks repeating the tragedies of the past. Therefore, dialogue, cooperation, and peaceful negotiation remain the only sustainable path. As modern conflicts continue to grow the importance of diplomacy cannot be overstated. Diplomacy provides nations with a peaceful means of resolving disputes through dialogue and compromise rather than violence. It prevents misunderstandings from escalating into armed conflicts and helps build trust and cooperation among nations. Strong diplomatic relations create a stable environment that encourages economic growth, attracts foreign investment, expands trade, and creates employment opportunities. Moreover, diplomacy facilitates humanitarian assistance, strengthens regional cooperation, and promotes lasting peace. In an increasingly interconnected world, it remains the most effective instrument for achieving peace, stability, and shared prosperity. History demonstrate that diplomacy repeatedly succeeded where military cops failed .The Camp David Accords (1978) ended decades of hostility between Egypt and Israel, proving that persistent dialogue can transform long-standing enemies into peace partners. Similarly, the Good Friday Agreement (1998) brought an end to years of violence in Northern Ireland through negotiation and political compromise. The Dayton Peace Agreement (1995) ended the devastating Bosnian War, while the Indus Waters Treaty (1960) between Pakistan and India has endured despite multiple wars, demonstrating that diplomatic agreements can survive even during periods of intense political tension. These examples illustrate that meaningful dialogue, mutual respect, and sustained negotiations often achieve what military force cannot. As former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan wisely observed, “More than ever before in human history, we share a common destiny. We can master it only if we face it together.” In modern world conflicts strengthening diplomacy is essential for building a peaceful, stable, and prosperous future. Governments should prioritize dialogue over confrontation, invest in skilled diplomacy, and promote mutual trust through regular communication. International organizations, regional alliances, and civil society also have an important role in facilitating peaceful negotiations and resolving disputes before they escalate into violence. At the same time, nations must uphold international law, respect sovereignty, and work together to address shared challenges such as climate change, terrorism and cyber threats. By embracing cooperation instead of conflict, diplomacy can prevent wars, protect human lives, and lay the foundation for lasting global peace and sustainable development. To conclude, diplomacy remains the cornerstone of peace and stability in an increasingly turbulent world. While modern conflicts have become more complex due to geopolitical rivalries, technological advancements, and transnational threats, dialogue and cooperation continue to offer the most effective path to lasting solutions. Military force may end battles, but only diplomacy can build enduring peace, restore trust, and promote mutual understanding among nations. As global challenges continue to transcend borders, the international community must strengthen diplomatic institutions, uphold international law, and foster a culture of cooperation. A peaceful and prosperous future depends not on the power of weapons, but on the wisdom of dialogue and the commitment to resolve differences through diplomacy. Does placing Wi-Fi router on floor weaken signals?

You may have heard that the location of a Wi-Fi router plays an important role in its performance. Placing a router in a poor location can negatively affect the strength and range of internet signals. But what happens if you place a Wi-Fi router on the floor? The answer is that a Wi-Fi router can be placed on the floor but generally, it is not an ideal location. One reason is that when a router is placed on the floor, a significant portion of its Wi-Fi signals may be directed toward the ground. In addition, placing the router on the floor increases the chances of its signals being blocked or weakened by furniture and other household objects. As you may know, most Wi-Fi routers have antennas that transmit signals at different angles. Therefore, when a Wi-Fi router is placed on the floor, many of its signals may travel directly toward the floor instead of spreading efficiently throughout the room. Walls along the path of Wi-Fi signals can also act as obstacles. That is why it is generally recommended to place your Wi-Fi router in an elevated location such as on a shelf. The higher the router is placed, the better the signal coverage is likely to be throughout the house. It is also better to place the router in an open area where there are fewer household objects around it. Although placing a Wi-Fi router on the floor is not ideal, it is not necessarily the worst possible location. In fact, placing a router close to electrical appliances can be even worse. Therefore, you should avoid placing your Wi-Fi router near devices such as televisions, microwave ovens, refrigerators, Bluetooth devices and other electronic appliances as they can significantly interfere with signal coverage.
