“On September 4th, 1979, my father handed me the keys to a slightly used Buccaneer Red-on-White 1974 Pontiac LeMans Sport and said, almost offhand, “Your mother just bought a new Corvette. I need you to help me pick it up—and the LeMans will be your car now. You owe her $2,000, pay it off over the next two years. Here’s a new AAA card, insurance is covered. Oh, and you’re welcome.”

“My late grandfather had a 92 Accord EX sedan that he took to 800,000 before he passed. Unfortunately it was in northern Illinois so by the time he died the car was only about 75% there from the beltline down due to rust. It was a stick and still had the original engine and transmission (I think it was only on t he second clutch) and still drove like a dream. If it wasn’t for the rust I would have kept it and drove it to a million plus. This one is tempting. These are really great cars…”

“It’s incredible to see the one-year only chromed exhaust extensions! They were unique to 1975 Formulas and 400-powered Trans Ams.
For record, the chromed splitters, which were introduced on the 1974 GTO were included with the Trans Am’s “455 HO” package introduced in midyear 1975 and used throughout the remainder of the 1970s and into the 1980s.”

What a great car that was! Some of my favorite memories are cruising with my best friend in the Cadillac listening to Led Zeppelin. A true Party Barge! He passed away last year, still my best friend. Thanks for the memories”

“My dad had one of these back in the day. The drivetrain was something else. We owned it to about 250k miles before selling it on the original clutch, transmission, turbo, head gasket, diffs, etc. It’d been chip tuned the whole time to almost 300hp for most of that.
Not that it was cheap or easy to keep the rest of the car in shape around that drivetrain….but still, this was Audi at its best.”

“Oh hello, old friend! I managed Aston Martin Newport Beach for 6+ years, I spec’d this car personally, and I sold it to the original owner. Used to see him driving in Newport/Laguna all the time. I don’t work there anymore, so I don’t have access to the service records, but my memory was that the original owner did the scheduled maintenance on time, and the remainder of the service visits you see on the carfax are for tires. I seem to remember that he didn’t have the best luck with…”

“Funny story – I was trying to find a correct new radiator cap for the TR4. I had gotten one from a British parts supplier, but it didn’t fit correctly. I grabbed my identical radiator from my project TR4 and went to the local parts stores to see what they had. Total strikeout. I went to Panda Express with TR4 radiator caps on my mind and got this fortune cookie. I immediately sent a picture of it to my wife saying “Looks like I’m getting another car!”.”

“Anyone buying an RX7 that’s been sitting for a long time should assume it needs apex seals unless proven otherwise. The dash and radio are lit up in some pics, so the car has electrical power. I’m guessing lack of power is the result of a few horses escaping the engine bay.
This FD is quite tempting. I have a few solutions for lack of power sitting in the corner of the shop ;)”

“I own a higher mileage AZ-1 just like this. It is awesome. Obviously the new owner will likely keep this stock, but upgrading the suspension to the Navic coilovers and adding a stiffer roll bar front and back dramatically changed the handling. It went from leaning SUV in the corners to go-kart. Just my 2 cents.”

“Not an uncommon swap in the late 1980s. I recall reading a Pontiac Magazine from that era where someone restored a ’69 Firebird that had the Chevy motor in it. There were far more parts available for small block Chevys either through catalogs like J.C. Whitney, or in junkyards, which were chock full of them. And, hey, if it ain’t broke…why fix it? If it gets to the point where the 350 needs to be pulled, then you can start thinking about putting a proper Pontiac motor back in. But,…”
