“Son of the late owner here. My dad found and imported this car (and a few others, including the recent Woodie Fiat Topolino on BaT). He had a collection of several dozen vintage European cars, including many Ferraris, Alfa’s, Lancia, Fiats, Porsches, etc. He was a perfectionist when it came to cars and became more interested in hot rods like this one as time went on because they were more fun to drive on the gorgeous NY back roads. The car would have received /anything/ recommended by Frank…”

So many shout outs……fun at car shows…..he drove it to our wedding….we rode home in it after. It’s been a part of most of our life celebrations in some way. He passed away this year and it feels time to let someone else make a memory with it. Whomever gets it, I hope you enjoy it as much as we have ❤️”

“My dad bought a new 406 w/3x2s in early ‘63. Ford introduced the 427 fastback “legend” as a 63 1/2 model. My dad blew up his 406 and Ford replaced it with a 427 shortblock…under warranty. He will be 85 next week. This one would be a great birthday present!”

“There are few things that could improve Fort Stockton. This Texaco station would be one of those. One morning it could simply appear, as if the town had been holding its breath for eighty years and finally exhaled in porcelain enamel and red stars.
It isn’t a working gas station, not really. Nobody’s pumping Sky Chief into a ’57 Ford Sunliner or wiping windshields with a rag that’s seen seven administrations. It’s a shrine. A perfectly scaled, lovingly obsessive recreation, right…”

“With the recent unveiling of the Dark Horse SC, it only cements that the GT350/R is the last of its breed. Naturally aspirated, special engine (high revving flat plane crank) with a high quality Tremec transmission. The car has already reached legendary status, often compared with a Porsche GT3. The sound is intoxicating, especially north of 6,000 rpms.”

“Hurley Haywood was my instructor at the Porsche Driving School in Alabama, actually both times I went — was really a great instructor — five time winner of 24hrs of Daytona — will never forget my laps riding with Hurley driving around that track at 9/10ths.

In the downhill corkscrew to get the 996 back end to to come around he caused a bunny hop by repeatedly stabbing at the brake pedal to unsettle the car, I had never seen that technique before or since, counter to what they…”

I’m already smiling just thinking about driving this street legal go-kart. Being behind the wheel of this would make my face hurt from happiness.

Only thing it is missing from my ideal 3/4 Suburban build sheet would be barn doors in back, but the tailgate is what makes pregaming work too.”

    “Ok
So while we were setting up Rally 1
Mike Z who ran the Saleen shop floor set up a red door complete with gurney bubble on a small dolly door stand. For display and option for people coming to have your door converted.
Of course vin 1314 / signature car owner / Me wanted it that day to swap on my red car for the event!
The door was display only because it was a blemish / defect door and not complete , hence the parts missing on this door!
I think Bony had the first bubble after Gurney…”

People obviously differ regarding what they want from a car, but for me, it really doesn’t get much better than this among modern cars. In addition to all the things that make Aston Martins special, the V12 Vantage S is an absolutely fantastic thing to DRIVE.
