“A United Airlines pilot that lived across the street from us when I was a teenager had a 12 cylinder E-Type coupe he bought new. Easy to look at and great sounds. But THIS car has all the modern goodies with no Lucas Electrics gremlins and all the modern upgrades plus a spotless and powerful Ed Pink motor. This would be the Jag I would own. Exceptional build and beautiful car. GLWTA !”

“Dean Batchelor and Phil Hill agreed that if one has only one Ferrari, make it a 330 GTC. It does everything so well. As said, not only does it NOT need power steering, leave off all options including AC and Borrani wire wheels on these cars. The AC in this era had an ugly compressor, was very heavy and not very effective. Borrani’s are certainly beautiful but along with the attaching hardware are much heavier than the race proven Campagnolo disc wheels with their P car style provenance.…”

McQueen did all of the riding except for the 60-ft jump over the barbed wire. Insurance restrictions limited that scene.”

“Exact car, down to the color, my Uncle had. My parents borrowed it in August, 1959 when we went to get our first Weimaraner from some people in Illinois. My first dog, remember the trip, I was 4. We had a DeSoto 2 door sedan (1952) at that time, unsuitable for transport of a very large pup!
Paint was dull on his wagon I recall. Downright chalky. Within the next year or so he traded it on a brand new Ford Taunus wagon. (Now there’s one you NEVER see.)”

Midway through the loop, which was about thirty miles on various roads, we merged onto a local interstate at about 90 mph.
