A few of the comments that stood out to us yesterday:

“@bbilly McQueen rode a “stolen” German military camp motorcycle which was a modified Triumph TR6 Trophy in The Great Escape. A period-correct BMW or Zundapp weren’t up to the physical task. McQueen did all of the riding except for the 60-ft jump over the barbed wire. Insurance restrictions limited that scene.”

“Exact car, down to the color, my Uncle had. My parents borrowed it in August, 1959 when we went to get our first Weimaraner from some people in Illinois. My first dog, remember the trip, I was 4. We had a DeSoto 2 door sedan (1952) at that time, unsuitable for transport of a very large pup!
Paint was dull on his wagon I recall. Downright chalky. Within the next year or so he traded it on a brand new Ford Taunus wagon. (Now there’s one you NEVER see.)”

“Kudos to the seller for all of the pics! For those of us who’ve been around BaT for awhile you may remember the BaT feature “Where They Rust”. “I must commend the team at Revology on an absolute triumph of packaging. It is one thing to shoehorn a Gen 3 Coyote into an early-model engine bay, but the way this has been engineered is incredibly clean. You actually left plenty of room to work on the car, and the plumbing is pure art. It takes a truly discerning eye to differentiate this from a factory-spec 1968 Fastback until you pop the hood.
The juxtaposition of eras is beautifully executed. Catching the modern Ford door-ajar chime in…”

“This is my old car, and can only say it’s one the best cars I’ve ever owned. These cars were overengineered by Toyota and it shows. Every button, switch, etc all feel perfect. The car drives as smooth as butter. And if you know these SCs, the silver on black is very rare. Most are grandma tan inside. When I opened my garage every day, I always found myself wanting to drive this instead of my Aston Martin. Whoever buys this will be very happy, and get thousands of fantastic miles… actually you…”

“I learned how to drive stick on my Dad’s ‘85.5 White 944 Turbo with phone dials. We loved that car.
That motor was so fun and always sounded so great.
It just about killed my pops when he sold it, but he was getting older and wanted something more comfy and lux and was getting hard for him to get in and out of easily.
That was 20 years ago now (wow!) and every time I fire up my GT4, I think about that car.
Beautiful 944. These cars are so fun and so special.”

“A bunch of years ago (well, decades ago), I bought a well-used but complete and drivable ’66 912 from a garage sale in Reseda, CA for the princely sum of $1000. I drove it the few blocks to my home. Going through the paperwork, I found the title, with Axl Rose’s name on it. Guns ‘n Roses’ Axl Rose.
So I washed it a bit, advertised it in The Recycler and flipped it for $2000. Felt like a genius.
