“Somewhat related, gearhead Nick Mason (Pink Floyd) took part in a documentary “La Carrera Panamericana” in the early 1990s, which is just awesome. Wonderful cinematography of the actual race, with Pink Floyd as the soundtrack.
I stumbled upon the VHS in a bargain bin in the mid-’90s, but it’s all over YouTube now.

“Love this example. I also have a Piedmont Green Metallic E400 Wagon (more photos on my IG @ptsrs) and can confirm it is a wonderful family car. It also gets surprisingly a lot of compliments, especially from young dads haha. As the other Piedmont owner said, the color is incredibly dynamic. The M276 V6 is buttery smooth and has a good reputation for reliability.

“My parents bought a blue 1964 Wagon like this and we made two big trips from MN, one to Southern California, including Disneyland, and the other to Alaska. The Alaska trip was memorable for my two brothers and I. “Soon after we purchased our first house in 1998, I bought a 1985 Buick Electra Estate wagon. My brother was renovating our main floor for us, which involved several sheetrock runs to Home Despot. That wagon could transport 4×8 sheets with the tailgate closed, and 4×10 sheets with the tailgate flipped down. Still one of the best vehicles I have ever owned.”

“My ‘84 was the twin of this car. It too had the blue interior, which I thought was much more interesting than the more common red/burgundy. Worthless Trivia: the ‘84s gained a filler piece at the front bumper which concealed the lower fascia.
To this day that car remains as a favorite. Many fond memories of track days at Lime Rock Park, graduate school in Indiana, that little car followed me around like an energetic puppy.”
