“Combating the maintenance scaries with an impressive log of care.
From VW’s golden era. This being on the lot next to the MKIV .:R32 and V10 TDI Touareg is as good as it’ll get.”

“Hello BaT! I’m the builder and seller of this E30, and I’ll be here throughout the auction to answer any questions and provide additional photos or videos if requested.
This project began as an effort to build an electric E30 that felt like a proper driver’s car rather than simply an EV conversion. Nearly every component was selected with that goal in mind—from the Tesla Plaid drive unit and custom battery system to the suspension, brakes, and chassis upgrades.
    After the build was…”

“By the time this particular Fulvia was built, Fiat had owned Lancia long enough to have begun incorporating some profit-motivated changes. I spent a lot of time at the Lancia display at the Turin Auto Show in 1972, and following that wrote an article for the LANCIANA, the American Lancia Club newsletter. Some things I noted were “…the paint and overall finish is better than ever. Suspension bits are stampings now, rather than the nice hardware that we’re used to.. Plastic clips replace the…”

A few of the comments that stood out to us yesterday:

“This car always stuck out with ONE simple metric that I read back when it was being tested… 50mph to 75mph, it beat out the Testarossa and Porsche Carrera 4.
I think we know a hybrid RAV4 today could probably do this, but in period it blew my socks off to know this.
May this Swedish Testarossa be enjoyed for many more years. GLWTA”

“@PDXBryan this one blows my SOHCs off.
I’ve only once seen a cammer swap as nice as this and it was supposedly done by KK as an experimental along with one they build as a mid-engine Boss 9 (both fastback Mustangs).
What’s so clever about this is you’d never expect it. The level of street sleeper, slack jaw, dumbdoundery here is off the charts. Roll up in this anywhere and get affirming nods, then open the hood and prepare for the cult of engine worship to begin their drooling genuflections.…”

“340 vs 383 the 340 wins. Not only in a straight line but especially on a winding road. The small block with the well designed chassis corners like a sports car. To be fair, these days the restrictive 383 exhaust can be relieved with contemporary under-chassis headers and the big block can be as light as a small block with aluminum heads, intake and water pump housing. Throw in a stroker crank for 500ci and it will get interesting.
But for stock vintage examples I think it’s no contest. If…”

“A perspective: I own a 911sc converted to an ev with a P100D motor in it. It’s the most fun car i’ve ever owned. I also have a beetle with a 60hp type 1 and that is also super fun. There’s room in the world for all types! I’m certain this 2002 has a soul and personality, will bring smiles to all who get to experience it, and would be a blast to drive. Good luck to the buyer and seller!”

“I was fortunate enough to be able to watch Chuck Wray’s shop prepare a Bizzarrini for Pebble Beach, years ago- I think it was 2003. It came second in the Giugiaro class, which (of course) was judged by Giugiaro; best in class was a Ghibli, which he mentioned was his favorite of his designs. The level of meticulous work and knowledge at Chuck’s shop has to be seen to be believed. As Frank said, back then not many knew that these cars even existed. Nice to see them getting their propers.”

“Several years ago (well, maybe more than several!) I was offered a ride-along slot taking notes on the road trial of a 288 GTO which had just been serviced for a prominent collector here in MD. Midway through the loop, which was about thirty miles on various roads, we merged onto a local interstate at about 90 mph. The driver then floored it, the turbos spooled up, and at 90+ mph the tires chirped and the car rocketed forward, pushing us both back in our seats. I’ll remember that, always- at…”

I’d read a lot about issues with the earlier cars but those were mostly software related. Anyway, given my advanced age I decided to get one before I roll over for the last time. So I bought a new GTS to add to my modest stable. Never have had any trouble whatsoever. I drive it a couple times a week and it stays on the maintainer…”
