“I was a teenager HS student working at the corner service station. We had a local Dr that had one of these, his was the beautiful dark blue with matching padded top. He would pull in for gas, 27 gallon tank. After putting the car in “Park” he would tilt the wheel which would almost go horizontal on these and throw a small towel that covered the wheel from rim edge to edge. Gas up. “My father loved VWs and I grew up surrounded by a barnyard of mostly early 50s cars and vans. We swapped engines without any regard for anything except which ones ran the best. This is an amazing car anyway, but what truly astonishes me is the original engine still in place. Incredible.”

First, pay the bucks to get an expert diagnosis of the issues. The interior looks more than serviceable so just get it running right…not perfect, just safely drivable. “All of a sudden it’s 2003, I’m in my parents’ living room putting Need for Speed Underground into my Gamecube. I’ve got a Focus with green underglow and nitrous. It’s built to dominate the circuit races, but I need a better car for drifting. My dad helps me with some of the tougher races – we’re gonna watch some Monster Garage after we get a few races in.
Shoot… I might just go into my own living room now and pop the game into the Gamecube. For old time’s sake.”
