A medical report submitted to the Supreme Court has revealed that former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan is experiencing severe anxiety symptoms. The report was submitted by the superintendent of Adiala Jail. It contains details about Imran Khan’s physical and mental health. The report was submitted after PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja approached the Supreme Court. His petition raised concerns about Imran Khan’s health and restrictions on meetings with him. According to the report, Imran Khan’s anxiety was recorded at “Level 3+”. The condition has been described as severe. A medical board examined Imran Khan on August 10, 2026. The board included specialists in eye diseases, cardiology and general medicine. The report states that Imran Khan is around 73 years old. His blood pressure was recorded at 140/80. His pulse was 54 beats per minute. His ECG was found to be normal. His chest was also clear. Doctors found his heart valves and chambers to be normal. The report says Imran Khan complained of heaviness in his head. He also reported feeling that his heartbeat was faster than usual. However, he did not report chest pain. He also did not complain of chest heaviness or shortness of breath. The medical board recommended medicines to control his blood pressure and anxiety. Doctors also recommended regular physical activity. The board suggested that Imran Khan should walk for one hour every day. It also recommended activities that could provide mental relaxation. The report recommends that he should be provided with magazines, newspapers, television and books. These activities could help reduce mental stress during his imprisonment. The medical board also recommended increasing the duration of meetings with Imran Khan’s family and wife. According to the report, greater family interaction could help control his anxiety and blood pressure. The recommendations come amid repeated demands from PTI leaders for greater access to the former prime minister. Jail authorities said Imran Khan receives regular medical attention. Medical officers reportedly check his food intake and conduct medical examinations three times a day. The report also states that several government doctors have examined him during his imprisonment. Records of these medical examinations have reportedly been maintained. The former prime minister has also received treatment from an eye specialist. According to the jail authorities, one of his eyes has now recovered to an almost normal condition. The report includes a summary of medical examinations conducted by 39 different specialists between November 4, 2023, and August 10, 2026. The jail authorities have asked the Supreme Court to dispose of the petition. They maintain that Imran Khan is receiving regular medical care inside the prison. The report also discusses the issue of meetings with Imran Khan. Jail authorities claimed that some meetings had been used to generate public sentiment against the judiciary, foreign policy and law enforcement institutions. According to the report, Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi meet every Tuesday under jail rules. A total of 84 meetings between them have reportedly taken place so far. The document also states that Imran Khan’s lawyer Salman Safdar met him on February 10 and April 4, 2026. The medical report comes amid renewed political pressure over Imran Khan’s health and access to his family and personal doctors. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi recently announced a protest programme if Imran Khan was not allowed access to his family and personal physicians. The issue of Imran Khan’s health has become a major point of political debate. PTI leaders have repeatedly demanded better medical facilities and greater access to his personal doctors. A psychiatrist cited in the report said that “Level 3+” anxiety indicates a severe state of anxiety and distress. The psychiatrist explained that prolonged isolation and limited social interaction can worsen anxiety. Such conditions may also contribute to hopelessness and depression. He said regular interaction with other people can help reduce anxiety. He also recommended walking and exercise as useful measures for managing symptoms of anxiety and panic. The three-member Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Shahid Waheed will hear the petition. Justice Naeem Afghan and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim are also part of the bench. The court will examine the medical report and the concerns raised over Imran Khan’s health, medical treatment and access to family members and doctors.

Fresh CCTV footage has surfaced in the investigation into the murder of Mir Raza Ali, providing investigators with another potential lead as police continue to examine the circumstances surrounding his death. The newly obtained footage, captured by a surveillance camera overlooking the area where Ali’s body was discovered, shows a motorcycle stopping briefly at the location. According to investigators, the recording is timestamped at 3:36 a.m. on July 29, with the motorcycle remaining at the scene for approximately 20 seconds before leaving. Due to poor lighting, the footage does not clearly reveal the number of people riding the motorcycle or provide any identifying details, making further forensic analysis necessary. His body was found two days later in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Police said the victim had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, and his body was recovered in a severely deteriorated condition, indicating that it had remained at the location for some time before being discovered. British Columbia declares emergency as fast-moving…

British Columbia declared a provincial state of emergency on Saturday after a rapidly spreading wildfire forced thousands of residents in the western Canadian province to flee their homes overnight, with the blaze nearly doubling in size within hours. The Bald Range wildfire burned out of control and expanded rapidly to roughly 9,500 hectares, prompting evacuation orders across Summerland, Peachland and other districts west of Okanagan Lake in the province’s southern interior. The region produces the majority of British Columbia’s wine and ranks as Canada’s second largest wine producing area, adding an economic dimension to the disaster beyond the immediate threat to homes and lives. Officials describe explosive fire behaviour Premier David Eby told a news conference on Saturday that one fire official had compared the blaze to an explosion going off. Eby said the official described flames reaching 100 feet up trees, with additional flames shooting a further 200 feet above that, and the fire generating its own weather system that produced lightning, which in turn fed further fire growth in a self-sustaining cycle. “Homes have been lost, and properties have been destroyed,” Eby said, adding that some residents became trapped as conditions shifted rapidly and required rescue. The premier described the situation as highly dynamic and continuing to pose a serious threat to the region. Summerland had a population of about 12,000 residents according to the 2021 census, while neighbouring Peachland is home to roughly 6,500 people. Province activates emergency powers The declaration of a state of emergency grants provincial authorities immediate access to special powers, including the ability to impose travel restrictions, protect essential supplies from price gouging and deploy specific tools to coordinate rescue operations across affected areas. Officials said the Bald Range wildfire has triggered the largest evacuation event of the summer so far, with more than 20,000 people across British Columbia forced from their homes since the fire began its rapid expansion. Summerland Mayor Doug Holmes, speaking by phone from nearby Penticton, said a large number of farms in the area have been affected and that officials do not yet know the full extent of structural losses. “They’re still busy fighting the fire,” Holmes said, adding that the community needed to prepare for the worst possible outcome as firefighting efforts continued. Residents flee as highways begin closing Many residents left their homes overnight, driving south toward Penticton or north toward Kelowna before several highways in the region began closing due to the advancing fire. Terry Fries, a Summerland resident, said he was watching a football game on Friday night when a neighbour warned him to prepare an emergency bag as the fire continued to grow nearby. Fries said the fire remained visible behind nearby hills earlier in the evening before conditions worsened. When British Columbia authorities issued the formal evacuation order around midnight, Fries and his family drove approximately 45 kilometres north to the city of Kelowna to reach safety. Residents captured video footage showing fires burning along the highway and structures engulfed in flames as they fled the area. By Saturday afternoon, ash had begun settling on cars and houses in nearby communities as smoke from the fire cast an orange glow across the sky. Power and water systems disrupted Summerland lost electricity on Saturday and issued a boil water notice for residents after untreated water entered the municipal system when it bypassed the standard water treatment plant due to disruptions caused by the wildfire. Wildfires strain resources nationwide Several Canadian provinces, including Ontario and Quebec, have battled significant wildfires this year as hot and dry weather conditions fuelled blazes across dense forest regions. International firefighting crews from Mexico, Australia, France and New Zealand have travelled to Canada to assist local personnel in combating the fires. In British Columbia specifically, where continued hot and dry conditions have heightened the risk of further fire spread, approximately 1,500 firefighting personnel are currently battling more than 100 active fires across the province. Authorities have issued 40 formal evacuation orders and an additional 49 evacuation alerts as the fire season continues to intensify. Wildfires have burned through approximately 4 million hectares of land across Canada so far this year, according to figures from the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre, underscoring the scale of a fire season that has placed sustained pressure on emergency services and firefighting resources nationwide.

NEW DELHI: Indian authorities have launched a major search-and-rescue operation after a Panama-flagged cargo vessel sank off the eastern coast, leaving 24 crew members missing, according to the Indian Coast Guard. The maritime agency lost contact with the vessel, Ocean Winner, on Saturday while it was sailing toward Singapore carrying iron ore. The ship had departed from Paradip port in eastern India on Thursday and reportedly sank around 240 nautical miles from the port. The crew comprised 20 Chinese nationals, three Myanmar nationals and one Bangladeshi, Indian Coast Guard spokesperson Commandant Amit Uniyal said. Two Coast Guard vessels were dispatched from Sri Vijaya Puram, formerly known as Port Blair, to assist in the search operation. Rescue teams have so far saved two crew members found aboard life rafts, while efforts continue to locate the remaining seafarers. Authorities have yet to determine what caused the vessel to sink. Captain Alekha Charan Sahoo, deputy conservator of the Paradip Port Authority, expressed hope that more crew members would be found safely as the rescue operation continues. The incident has prompted an urgent maritime response, with Indian authorities coordinating efforts to locate the missing sailors in the waters off the country’s eastern coast.
