According to the investigation, Mir Raza left his home at approximately 4:02am on July 28. Before leaving, he reportedly left behind several personal belongings, including his wallet, house keys, and smartwatch. Police said he also transferred some money to his parents’ bank account before departing.

Investigators have obtained more than 100 CCTV recordings from different locations and are reviewing the footage to trace Mir Raza’s final movements and identify any suspects or suspicious activity.

Police also recorded the statement of Mir Raza’s fiancée as part of the investigation. She told investigators that he had not shared any concerns, fears, or personal problems with her before leaving home. She added that she repeatedly tried to contact him by phone on the morning of July 28 but received no response.

According to the post-mortem report, Mir Raza died after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest, with excessive blood loss identified as the cause of death.

Police recently recovered Mir Raza’s mobile phone from a location near the crime scene. The device has been sent for forensic examination to help investigators retrieve digital evidence and establish the circumstances leading to the killing.

The investigation remains underway, with police examining CCTV footage, forensic evidence, and witness statements as they continue efforts to determine the motive behind the murder and identify those responsible.

PTI lawmakers clash over Imran Khan’s release

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa parliamentary party meeting reportedly turned tense as several dissatisfied lawmakers openly raised concerns about the party’s strategy for securing the release of PTI founder Imran Khan. The meeting was convened to discuss the political campaign for Khan’s release, but the session became disorderly following remarks by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and members of the disgruntled group. According to details emerging from the meeting, the atmosphere became tense after the chief minister addressed the lawmakers. Members of the dissatisfied group reportedly delivered strong speeches and criticised the existing approach towards the campaign for Khan’s release. Their remarks upset Afridi, leading to a heated exchange during the session. The chief minister assured the disgruntled lawmakers that their reservations would be addressed. However, the assurance did not immediately resolve the differences. Some of the dissatisfied members reportedly left the meeting before it concluded. PTI lawmaker Fazal Elahi said all members of the parliamentary party had attended the meeting. He said the disgruntled lawmakers had demanded that the party organise a convention to formally administer an oath to its members. According to Elahi, a similar commitment should be sought from lawmakers for the campaign demanding Khan’s release, as was done during the Senate elections. Elahi stressed that the movement for Khan’s release should involve practical steps rather than remain limited to statements and discussions. He said the party’s founder could not be released through words alone and that members needed to demonstrate their commitment through action. He added that the remarks made by the dissatisfied lawmakers had caused displeasure during the meeting. The developments point to differences within the PTI parliamentary party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over how the campaign for Khan’s release should be pursued. Some lawmakers appear to be seeking stronger coordination and a more organised political strategy, while the party leadership continues to discuss its future course of action. The meeting is significant because PTI holds a strong political presence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Any disagreement among its parliamentary members could affect the party’s political strategy and coordination in the province. The demand for a formal oath also indicates that some lawmakers want greater commitment from party members before launching further political activities.

Karachi court acquits Anmol alias Pinky in three d…

KARACHI: An Additional District and Sessions Court in Karachi has acquitted Anmol alias Pinky in three drug cases registered at Gizri Police Station. The court announced the decision on Thursday after hearing arguments from the defence. Pinky was arrested by Karachi police in May during a joint operation with a civil agency at an apartment in the Garden area. Police had accused her of operating an organised narcotics supply network in Karachi. Investigators alleged that the network was involved in processing and distributing cocaine and had links with other major cities, including Lahore and Islamabad. According to police, the three cases against Pinky were registered at Gizri Police Station in 2020, 2021 and 2022. She had remained a fugitive in the cases before her arrest. During Thursday’s hearing, Pinky’s defence counsel argued that two other accused persons in the cases had already been acquitted. The lawyer told the court that co-accused Ali and Fehmida were acquitted in 2024. He argued that Pinky had subsequently been implicated on the basis of statements attributed to the acquitted co-accused. The defence maintained that after the acquittal of the two co-accused, there was insufficient legal basis to convict Pinky in the cases. The court accepted the defence arguments and acquitted her in all three cases. Before her acquittal, investigators had made several allegations about Pinky’s alleged role in the narcotics trade. Police claimed she supplied drugs to customers in affluent areas of Karachi, including DHA and Clifton. Investigators also alleged that she personally prepared cocaine and used female riders and online platforms to facilitate deliveries. Police further claimed that her alleged network extended beyond Karachi to cities including Lahore and Islamabad. During interrogation, investigators attributed statements to Pinky regarding the quality and sale of cocaine. Police alleged that two categories of cocaine were being sold through the network at different prices. Pinky, however, made separate allegations during interrogation. She claimed she was being pressured to name politicians and members of the entertainment industry. She also alleged that she had been subjected to physical mistreatment during questioning and accused an investigation officer of threatening her.
