Pakistan clarifies Afghan deportation policy

Pakistan has clarified that Afghan citizens with valid visas and travel documents have not been expelled from the country.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said the government was following a legal process regarding Afghan nationals staying in Pakistan.

Addressing the weekly press briefing, Andrabi said cases of around 89,000 Afghan citizens were currently being reviewed under the Illegal Foreigners Repatriation Plan (IFRP).

He explained that the process was being carried out according to established procedures and legal requirements.

The spokesperson added that Pakistan was also providing humanitarian relief by extending the stay of nearly 16,000 Afghan nationals.

The extension applies mainly to vulnerable groups, including women, children and elderly citizens, he said.

Commenting on reports of an incident near the Chitral border areas, Andrabi said the Foreign Office had no confirmed information about the matter.

He stated that reports coming from Afghanistan needed proper verification at the ground level before any official response could be given.

The spokesperson stressed that Pakistan would avoid commenting on unverified reports and would share information only after confirmation from reliable sources.

Zoya Akhtar explains Katrina’s ZNMD kiss with Hrithik

Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar has revealed why Katrina Kaif agreed to an unexpected kissing scene with Hrithik Roshan in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Speaking at the Monsoon Film Festival on Monday, Akhtar recalled her experience of working with Katrina on the 2011 film. She said Katrina had never performed a kissing scene before. According to Akhtar, Katrina understood that the scene was important to the story. After reading the script, she agreed to film the moment because she recognised its importance to her character. The director explained that Katrina’s character, Laila, was portrayed as someone who lived in the moment and acted on her instincts. Akhtar said the kiss was important because audiences needed to see Laila make a completely spontaneous decision. The moment was designed to reveal another side of her personality. She compared the scene to a fairy-tale moment. In her interpretation, Hrithik Roshan’s character Arjun was like Sleeping Beauty, while Laila played the role of the prince who wakes him up. Akhtar said the scene was not included simply as a romantic moment. It was intended to strengthen Laila’s character and underline the emotional transformation taking place between the characters. The scene later became one of the most discussed moments from the popular film. During the conversation, Akhtar also addressed reports about a possible sequel to Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. She confirmed that work on a follow-up is underway but said several details are still uncertain. The filmmaker indicated that the team is considering whether the story can successfully revisit the characters at their current stage of life. Released in 2011, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara starred Katrina Kaif, Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol and Kalki Koechlin. The film followed three friends who reunited for a road trip in Spain. It became widely popular for its themes of friendship, adventure, relationships and living life to the fullest. The movie was also a commercial success. It reportedly earned around ₹153 crore worldwide against a production budget estimated at between ₹45 crore and ₹55 crore.

Commenting on the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s death, Odho said he believed that a communication gap or miscommunication had emerged in the case. He described the incident as unfortunate and said that the authorities were committed to ensuring that the matter was investigated in a proper and transparent manner. “We are not the policymakers; we are responsible for implementing the law,” the IGP said, adding that the investigation would eventually establish the facts surrounding the incident. Javed Alam Odho described the Mir Raza case as sensitive and said that both the police and the Sindh government wanted to ensure that it was handled appropriately. He said that much of the confusion surrounding the case had emerged because of the medical-legal report. According to him, an earlier report prepared by one doctor had presented in different findings, which contributed to uncertainty surrounding the case. The IGP said that a new committee had now been formed to investigate the matter and restore public confidence in the process. He explained that the previous committee had continued its work on the basis of the evidence that had been provided to it at the time. However, according to Odho, the evidence available to investigators had subsequently changed significantly. In light of the new evidence, he said, there was a need to restart the investigation using a different approach. The new investigation team has also been instructed to maintain open communication with the victim’s family and the media throughout the investigation, he added. Earlier, reports emerged that an attempt had allegedly been made to burn Mir Raza’s body with acid. According to forensic sources, traces of acid were reportedly found on his shirt, adding another dimension to the investigation. Meanwhile, the Sindh government had decided to have the Mir Raza case investigated through a judicial commission involving High Court judges. Sindh Law Minister Zia Lanjar said that a meeting had been held with the Chief Minister regarding the case. He said the government had decided to establish a judicial commission to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s death. Mir Raza Ali Khan went missing on July 28 from the Pakistan Employees Cooperative Housing Society (PECHS). According to reports, he left his home at around 4:09am in an online taxi. His body was recovered two days later from the Gulistan-e-Johar area. Police officials said that the body was found in a severely damaged condition and that Mir Raza had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. Authorities also said that all of his social media accounts had been deactivated one day before his body was recovered, a development that investigators are expected to examine as part of the case. Mir Raza’s family has been seeking answers about the circumstances surrounding his death. His father previously said that Mir Raza was scheduled to get married on August 30 at Bait-ul-Mukarram Mosque in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. According to his father, Mir Raza had been extremely happy about starting a new chapter of his life and was looking forward to his upcoming marriage. The formation of a new investigation committee and the proposed judicial commission are expected to bring greater clarity to the case and address concerns raised by the victim’s family and the public.

Ayushmann Khurrana, Sara Ali Khan reunite for ‘Udta Teer’

Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan are set to reunite on screen for a brand-new comedy titled “Udta Teer.” The film is generating early buzz thanks to its previously successful pairing. The project is being backed by Dharma Productions alongside Sikhya Entertainment. According to reports, “Udta Teer” is currently scheduled to hit theatres on October 9, 2026. This marks the second collaboration between Khurrana and Khan, following their earlier film together, “Pati Patni Aur Woh Do.” Their previous on-screen chemistry appears to have played a role in bringing the duo back together for this new project. “Udta Teer” is expected to lean heavily into comedy, promising a chaotic, lighthearted storyline aimed at family audiences. Details about the plot remain largely under wraps for now, keeping fans guessing about what to expect. The film also marks a directorial debut of sorts. Writer Akash A. Kaushik is stepping behind the camera for the first time, taking on dual responsibilities as both writer and director. Backing the project is a notably strong production team. It includes Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain, all lending their names to the film’s development. Despite the starry production lineup, further casting and plot details haven’t been revealed yet. The makers appear to be keeping most specifics close to the chest ahead of an official rollout. If the current release date holds, “Udta Teer” would arrive just a week after another major release. “Drishyam 3” is slated to hit theatres on October 2, 2026, setting up a competitive stretch at the box office that month. With two major titles releasing within days of each other, October is shaping up to be a crowded month for Hindi cinema. Audiences will likely have plenty of choice, ranging from suspense-driven drama to lighthearted comedy. For Khurrana and Khan, the reunion offers a chance to build on their earlier on-screen partnership. Whether “Udta Teer” can replicate that same chemistry remains to be seen, but expectations are already building ahead of its confirmed release window.

Federal agents arrest armed suspect near Donald Trump’s California golf course

Federal and local law enforcement officers in California have arrested a 38-year-old man who was observed taking photographs and monitoring security preparations at President Donald Trump’s golf course in Rancho Palos Verdes, two days before the president was scheduled to attend a political fundraising dinner at the venue. The suspect, identified as Jeanine John Taele of Downey, California, was taken into custody on Sunday afternoon by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies and federal agents. Authorities revealed that Taele had initially been spotted on the grounds of Trump National Golf Club on Friday, wearing an earpiece while filming federal personnel carrying out security assessments. Upon returning to the property on Sunday, Taele allegedly approached federal agents, falsely claimed to work for the US Department of State on a security detail, and admitted to possessing a loaded weapon inside his vehicle. Upon searching the suspect, law enforcement officers recovered a 16-round magazine loaded with hollow-point ammunition from his clothing. A subsequent search of his pickup truck parked on the property yielded a loaded 9mm pistol, additional hollow-point rounds, binoculars, and a fake badge reading “security protection agent”. Officers also determined that Taele was actively wanted in connection with an unrelated robbery investigation conducted by the El Segundo Police Department. Following the arrest, agents from the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Sheriff’s Department Major Crimes Bureau executed a search warrant at Taele’s residence in Downey. Investigators seized an illegally modified short-barrelled AR-style rifle, a .45-calibre handgun, body armour, high-capacity magazines, extensive ammunition supplies, and notebooks containing what officials described as “concerning statements”. Taele, a decorated US Marine Corps veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan between 2008 and 2016, faces both state and federal charges. State prosecutors in Los Angeles County have charged him with second-degree robbery, possession of a short-barrelled rifle, manufacturing or receiving a large-capacity magazine, and carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle. He pleaded not guilty to state charges on Tuesday and remains held on $250,000 bail. Federal prosecutors have separately charged Taele with possession of an unregistered short-barrelled rifle, an offence carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison. While the Secret Service and the FBI continue to investigate Taele’s motives, officials from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stated that there is currently no evidence of a direct, ongoing threat to the local community. President Trump proceeded with his planned visit to California, landing at the golf course via helicopter to host the Republican fundraising event.

Man arrested for allegedly behaving inappropriatel…

A 33-year-old man has been arrested in North Carolina after allegedly urinating on a family of four during a Morgan Wallen concert in Maryland last month. According to a statement shared by Maryland Transportation Authority Police on Wednesday, August 12, Jason Reed was taken into custody in North Carolina. Authorities said the incident happened during Wallen’s concert at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore in July. Reed is facing a second-degree assault charge in connection with the alleged incident. The arrest follows  tuan investigation by Maryland authorities after the family reportedly became victims of inappropriate behavior during the country singer’s performance. Police said the incident involved Reed allegedly urinating on all four members of the family. The disturbing act reportedly occurred while the concert was underway, turning what should have been an enjoyable family outing into an upsetting experience. Authorities continued their investigation after the incident and eventually identified Reed as the person allegedly responsible. His arrest in North Carolina demonstrates that investigators continued pursuing the case even after the suspect had left Maryland. The Maryland Transportation Authority Police shared details of the arrest on social media, bringing attention to the case. Officials did not indicate that the incident was connected to Wallen or his performance itself. Large concerts often attract thousands of fans, making crowd behavior and public safety an important concern for law enforcement. While most concertgoers attend to enjoy the music, incidents involving disruptive or inappropriate behavior can quickly affect other members of the audience. The alleged incident also highlights the challenges families can face at crowded events. Parents attending concerts with children generally expect to enjoy the experience in a safe and respectful environment. Reed’s arrest does not mean he has been found guilty. The allegations remain accusations, and the case will proceed through the legal system. A second-degree assault charge can carry significant legal consequences if a defendant is ultimately convicted. Meanwhile, Morgan Wallen continues his highly successful country music career, with his concerts drawing large crowds across the United States. For the family involved, however, the Maryland concert is likely to be remembered for an entirely different reason. What began as a night of live music and family entertainment allegedly ended with an uncomfortable encounter and a police investigation. As the legal process moves forward, authorities will determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and the appropriate outcome of the charges against Reed.
