Sindh IGP calls for proper investigation into Mir …

Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Javed Alam Odho has said that the death of Mir Raza is a tragic and deeply concerning incident, stressing that the case must be investigated and resolved properly

Speaking at a press conference in Sukkur, the Sindh police chief said that a committee had been formed to investigate the case and that a new investigation team would now carry out the inquiry.

Commenting on the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s death, Odho said he believed that a communication gap or miscommunication had emerged in the case. He described the incident as unfortunate and said that the authorities were committed to ensuring that the matter was investigated in a proper and transparent manner.

“We are not the policymakers; we are responsible for implementing the law,” the IGP said, adding that the investigation would eventually establish the facts surrounding the incident.

Javed Alam Odho described the Mir Raza case as sensitive and said that both the police and the Sindh government wanted to ensure that it was handled appropriately. He said that much of the confusion surrounding the case had emerged because of the medical-legal report. According to him, an earlier report prepared by one doctor had presented in different findings, which contributed to uncertainty surrounding the case.

The IGP said that a new committee had now been formed to investigate the matter and restore public confidence in the process. He explained that the previous committee had continued its work on the basis of the evidence that had been provided to it at the time.

However, according to Odho, the evidence available to investigators had subsequently changed significantly. In light of the new evidence, he said, there was a need to restart the investigation using a different approach.

The new investigation team has also been instructed to maintain open communication with the victim’s family and the media throughout the investigation, he added.

Earlier, reports emerged that an attempt had allegedly been made to burn Mir Raza’s body with acid. According to forensic sources, traces of acid were reportedly found on his shirt, adding another dimension to the investigation.

Meanwhile, the Sindh government had decided to have the Mir Raza case investigated through a judicial commission involving High Court judges.

Sindh Law Minister Zia Lanjar said that a meeting had been held with the Chief Minister regarding the case. He said the government had decided to establish a judicial commission to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s death.

Mir Raza Ali Khan went missing on July 28 from the Pakistan Employees Cooperative Housing Society (PECHS). According to reports, he left his home at around 4:09am in an online taxi.

His body was recovered two days later from the Gulistan-e-Johar area. Police officials said that the body was found in a severely damaged condition and that Mir Raza had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.

Authorities also said that all of his social media accounts had been deactivated one day before his body was recovered, a development that investigators are expected to examine as part of the case.

Mir Raza’s family has been seeking answers about the circumstances surrounding his death. His father previously said that Mir Raza was scheduled to get married on August 30 at Bait-ul-Mukarram Mosque in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

According to his father, Mir Raza had been extremely happy about starting a new chapter of his life and was looking forward to his upcoming marriage.

The formation of a new investigation committee and the proposed judicial commission are expected to bring greater clarity to the case and address concerns raised by the victim’s family and the public.

Instead of immediately replacing her entire wardrobe, she began making more intentional choices. Comfort, simplicity and clothing that made her feel confident became more important than following every new trend. Her style journey took another turn after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023. Munn underwent multiple surgeries, including a double mastectomy and later reconstruction, as she focused on her health and recovery. Munn has embraced clothing that feels polished while still fitting her lifestyle and changing body. Her story highlights how personal style can become part of rebuilding confidence after major life changes. For Munn, finding the right clothes was not simply about looking good. Munn’s style shift is ultimately a story about reclaiming identity. She is no longer waiting to feel like her old self. Instead, she is discovering who she is now—and dressing for that woman.

Iran claims destruction of three US F-35 jets

The conflict between Iran and the United States intensified on Thursday after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it destroyed three US F-35 fighter jets during a missile attack on Jordan’s al-Azraq airbase, a key facility used by American forces. According to the IRGC, the attack was carried out in retaliation for a US strike on Iran’s Qeshm Island that allegedly killed members of a civilian family. Iranian officials claimed several ballistic missiles struck aircraft maintenance facilities at the base, destroying three F-35 fighter jets and severely damaging three others. The IRGC also alleged that several US military personnel and technical staff were killed in the attack. No independent confirmation of these claims has been provided by US or Jordanian authorities. The latest exchange came after the United States launched fresh overnight strikes targeting multiple locations in Iran, including Bushehr, Qeshm, Bandar Abbas, Kish and Abadan. Iranian media reported that residential areas on Qeshm Island were hit, killing three members of one family and injuring two children. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards also announced that three of their personnel were killed in separate US missile attacks, vowing retaliation against what they described as American aggression. Meanwhile, Jordan said its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed five Iranian missiles heading toward its territory, marking the fourth consecutive day of missile interceptions. Authorities reported no casualties or damage. Iraq also sought to distance itself from the growing conflict. A military spokesperson stated there was no evidence that recent regional attacks had been launched from Iraqi territory, while stressing that only official security forces would be responsible for the country’s defence and security. Iran’s Foreign Ministry said discussions with Omani officials aimed at reducing tensions remain ongoing in Tehran. Iranian officials blamed the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz and disruptions to global shipping on US and Israeli military operations, insisting that foreign military actions had created instability in one of the world’s most important energy corridors. The IRGC also claimed two oil tankers attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz turned back after a fire broke out on one vessel. The group warned the strategic waterway would remain closed while military pressure against Iran continued. Elsewhere, Iran condemned recent US and Saudi air strikes inside Iraq, calling them violations of Iraqi sovereignty and international law. The attacks reportedly targeted Iran-aligned groups operating in the country. The United Nations expressed growing concern over the escalating hostilities. UN Secretary-General António Guterres urged all parties to end military operations immediately and return to diplomatic negotiations, warning that continued escalation could further destabilise the Middle East.

Punjab orders inquiry into handwritten medico-lega…

Lahore: The Punjab Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department has ordered an inquiry against five medical superintendents over the issuance of handwritten Medico-Legal Certificates (MLCs) and Post-Mortem Reports (PMRs), despite mandatory procedures requiring the documents to be generated through a computerized system. The action follows serious concerns raised by a Lahore High Court Division Bench regarding the continued issuance of handwritten medico-legal documents at several teaching hospitals across Punjab. According to an official departmental order issued on August 2, 2026, a meeting was held at the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department on July 8 to examine the issue. The meeting reviewed records showing that several hospitals had issued handwritten MLCs and PMRs during the preceding months in violation of established standard operating procedures. The hospitals identified in the departmental record include Nishtar Hospital Multan, Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital Sialkot, Dr Faisal Masood Teaching Hospital Sargodha, Services Hospital Lahore and Allama Iqbal Teaching Hospital Dera Ghazi Khan. The highest number of handwritten MLCs was reported at Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital Sialkot, where 1,243 such certificates were issued, along with 43 handwritten PMRs. Nishtar Hospital Multan reportedly issued 816 handwritten MLCs and 182 handwritten PMRs. Dr Faisal Masood Teaching Hospital Sargodha recorded 735 handwritten MLCs and 48 PMRs, while Services Hospital Lahore issued 680 handwritten MLCs. At Allama Iqbal Teaching Hospital Dera Ghazi Khan, the record showed 768 handwritten MLCs and 10 handwritten PMRs. The department said the available record provided sufficient grounds for proceedings against the concerned officers under Section 3 of the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (PEEDA) Act, 2006. The allegations relate to alleged misconduct and inefficiency in the discharge of official responsibilities. Among the officers facing inquiry is Dr Rao Amjad Ali Khan, former Medical Superintendent of Nishtar Hospital Multan. The issue has also raised questions about the responsibility of officials and staff working in forensic and medico-legal departments. Questions have emerged over how handwritten reports continued to be issued despite the availability of a mandatory computerized system. Computerization of MLCs and PMRs was introduced to improve transparency, maintain reliable records and reduce the possibility of alteration or manipulation of sensitive medico-legal documents. Such reports can play an important role in criminal investigations and court proceedings. The inquiry is expected to establish why the prescribed digital system was bypassed, identify officials responsible for the violations and determine whether disciplinary action is warranted. The department will also examine the circumstances surrounding the issuance of the handwritten reports and the role of the relevant hospital administrations.
