Ayushmann Khurrana, Sara Ali Khan reunite for ‘Udta Teer’

Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan are set to reunite on screen for a brand-new comedy titled “Udta Teer.” The film is generating early buzz thanks to its previously successful pairing.

The project is being backed by Dharma Productions alongside Sikhya Entertainment. According to reports, “Udta Teer” is currently scheduled to hit theatres on October 9, 2026.

This marks the second collaboration between Khurrana and Khan, following their earlier film together, “Pati Patni Aur Woh Do.” Their previous on-screen chemistry appears to have played a role in bringing the duo back together for this new project.

“Udta Teer” is expected to lean heavily into comedy, promising a chaotic, lighthearted storyline aimed at family audiences. Details about the plot remain largely under wraps for now, keeping fans guessing about what to expect.

The film also marks a directorial debut of sorts. Writer Akash A. Kaushik is stepping behind the camera for the first time, taking on dual responsibilities as both writer and director.

Backing the project is a notably strong production team. It includes Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain, all lending their names to the film’s development.

Despite the starry production lineup, further casting and plot details haven’t been revealed yet. The makers appear to be keeping most specifics close to the chest ahead of an official rollout.

If the current release date holds, “Udta Teer” would arrive just a week after another major release. “Drishyam 3” is slated to hit theatres on October 2, 2026, setting up a competitive stretch at the box office that month.

With two major titles releasing within days of each other, October is shaping up to be a crowded month for Hindi cinema. Audiences will likely have plenty of choice, ranging from suspense-driven drama to lighthearted comedy.

For Khurrana and Khan, the reunion offers a chance to build on their earlier on-screen partnership. Whether “Udta Teer” can replicate that same chemistry remains to be seen, but expectations are already building ahead of its confirmed release window.

Phil Collins says Taylor Swift’s success is ‘well deserved’ after memorable early performance

Music icon Phil Collins has spoken warmly about Taylor Swift, praising the singer-songwriter’s rise to global stardom and saying her remarkable success has been fully earned. Speaking during a BBC Radio 2 interview, the Genesis frontman reflected on a performance that left a lasting impression on him. Collins recalled watching Swift perform her ballad “White Horse” at the Songwriters Hall of Fame event in 2008, describing the moment as one that has stayed with him ever since. According to Collins, the performance stood out because of its simplicity and emotional honesty. With only an acoustic guitar accompanying her, Swift delivered the song in a way that highlighted both her songwriting and vocal ability. He said the heartfelt sentiment behind the lyrics, combined with her expressive singing, made the performance unforgettable. Collins explained that the stripped-back arrangement allowed the emotion of the song to shine through, adding that it created a lasting soft spot for both the track and the artist. Looking back, he said it is easy to understand why Swift went on to become one of the most successful musicians of her generation. Swift has spent the years since that performance building one of the music industry’s most celebrated careers. Her albums have consistently topped charts around the world, while her songwriting has earned widespread critical acclaim and numerous awards. Her ability to reinvent her sound while maintaining a close connection with fans has made her one of the defining artists of modern pop music. The admiration appears to be mutual. In 2019, Swift performed a cover of Collins’ song “Can’t Stop Loving You,” introducing the classic hit to many younger listeners while paying tribute to one of her musical influences. The performance was widely welcomed by fans of both artists. Collins, whose career with Genesis and as a solo performer has earned him worldwide recognition, remains one of the most influential figures in popular music. His comments about Swift reflect an appreciation for artistry across generations, highlighting how memorable performances and strong songwriting can create lasting respect between musicians. As both artists continue to leave their mark on music history, Collins’ praise serves as another reminder that genuine talent is often recognised by fellow performers. https://www.billboard.com/music/music-news/phil-collins-praises-taylor-swift-1236307708/

Sahibzada Farhan’s century powers Pakistan Blues to big win

MULTAN: Sahibzada Farhan produced a composed century as Pakistan Blues chased down 213 with ease, defeating Pakistan Gold by six wickets in the second match of the National Champions Cup 2026 at Multan Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. Farhan’s unbeaten-looking control throughout the chase proved decisive as Pakistan Blues reached their target in just 41 overs, losing only four wickets and underlining their dominance with both bat and ball. Opening with Maaz Sadaqat, Farhan helped Blues make a steady start, adding 30 runs for the first wicket inside five overs. Maaz contributed nine before departing, but Farhan quickly found another reliable partner in Mohammad Faiq. The pair added 55 runs for the second wicket, taking Blues to 85 in 16 overs. Faiq struck four boundaries during his 35-ball 30 before leaving the crease. Tayyab Tahir then joined Farhan and the two maintained the pressure on Pakistan Gold’s bowlers. Their 64-run partnership took Blues close to the finishing line, with Tahir scoring 35 from 41 balls, including three fours. At 149-3 after 29.1 overs, Farhan reached his ninth List-A century, providing the highlight of a commanding individual performance. The right-hander eventually made 102 from 101 deliveries, smashing nine fours and two sixes. Rohail Nazir and Irfan Khan then completed the job, remaining unbeaten on 21 and nine respectively. Mohammad Imran was Pakistan Gold’s most successful bowler, taking two wickets. Earlier, Pakistan Gold struggled after captain Shaheen Afridi elected to bat first. Hasan Ali and Sufyan Moqim led a powerful Blues bowling effort, sharing eight wickets between them. Pakistan Gold began positively through Shamyl Hussain and Saad Khan, but Saad fell for nine. Shamyl then combined with Kamran Ghulam for a 75-run partnership before Moqim ended the stand by removing Shamyl for a well-made 50 off 47 balls. Kamran continued to fight, adding 36 with Haider Ali. He top-scored with 63 from 84 deliveries, while Haider struck 44 from 53 balls. However, Pakistan Gold collapsed from 136-3 to 174-6 in just 3.2 overs as Hasan and Moqim tore through the middle order. The Gold innings eventually ended at 212 in 45.3 overs. Moqim and Hasan claimed four wickets apiece, while Arafat Minhas added two. With Farhan’s century completing a convincing chase, Pakistan Blues have made an emphatic statement in the early stages of the Champions Cup.

AJK polling enters third phase amid tight security

MUZAFFARABAD: Voting in the third phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir general elections began on Monday in four constituencies of Bagh and Haveli districts. Polling started at 8am and will continue until 5pm. Security has been tightened across the constituencies due to concerns over possible clashes and disturbances. Authorities have declared most of the 803 polling stations sensitive or highly sensitive. A large security contingent has been deployed to maintain law and order. Around 10,300 additional security personnel have been sent to Bagh and Haveli. Officials said the deployment was aimed at providing a safe environment for voters and election staff. The third phase was originally planned for all 11 constituencies of Poonch Division. However, voting was restricted to Bagh and Haveli after authorities reviewed the security situation. The remaining seven constituencies are expected to be polled later this month. Election officials have indicated that voting could take place on August 20 or 21, depending on the security situation. The current phase has attracted considerable political attention. Several prominent leaders are contesting the four seats. AJK Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore is seeking to retain his constituency. Two former prime ministers, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas and Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, are also in the electoral race. A total of 460,371 voters are eligible to cast their ballots. They include 238,664 men and 221,707 women. The election is being held at 803 polling stations. These stations have 1,254 polling booths. As many as 82 candidates are competing in the four constituencies. LA-14 Dhirkot has the highest number of candidates. Thirty candidates are contesting the seat. LA-17 Haveli has nine candidates, the lowest number among the four constituencies. In LA-17 Haveli, Prime Minister Rathore is facing PML-N candidate Engineer Mohsin Aziz and independent contender Khawaja Tariq Saeed. Rathore and Saeed were previously political allies. They had reportedly agreed to contest the seat alternately. Their political relationship changed after Rathore became prime minister. Rathore sought Saeed’s withdrawal from the contest. Saeed refused to step aside. The two former allies are now competing against each other. Mohsin Aziz is also running an active campaign. His father, Chaudhry Mohammad Aziz, had won the constituency several times in the past. The PML-N candidate is expected to receive support from sections of the Gujjar community. Saeed is believed to have support among parts of the Kashmiri community and several smaller clans. Rathore has expressed confidence about retaining the seat. He has highlighted the performance of his government during his tenure. The constituency has also witnessed allegations of electoral irregularities. Claims circulated on social media about alleged manipulation by two presiding officers. Election officials rejected the allegations as presented on social media. However, they confirmed receiving complaints against the two officials. Both were subsequently removed from election duties. In LA-15 Wasti Bagh, former prime minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas is facing several strong contenders. The candidates include PML-N nominee and former minister Mushtaq Ahmed Minhas. PPP candidate and sitting minister Sardar Ziaul Qamar is also contesting. Jamaat-i-Islami candidate retired Brigadier Dr Mohammad Khan is another key contender. Ilyas had initially announced a boycott of the third phase. He later reversed the decision and returned to the election campaign. He has described the contest as important for his political future. He has also linked his campaign to the possibility of securing a senior constitutional position after the election. Ilyas and Ziaul Qamar belong to the same Madiyal tribe. Brigadier Khan belongs to the Narma clan. He is backed by several influential Jamaat-i-Islami figures and local supporters. Mushtaq Minhas is benefiting from the PML-N’s position as the leading party in the elections held so far. The party has secured the largest number of seats in the previous phases and is expected to play a major role in forming the next government. In LA-16 Sharqi Bagh, former ministers Sardar Mir Akbar and Sardar Qamar Zaman are among the main contenders. Mir Akbar is contesting on the PML-N ticket. Qamar is representing the PPP. The LA-14 Dhirkot contest has also emerged as one of the closely watched races. Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, head of the Muslim Conference, is seeking another victory from the constituency. He has represented the seat for several years and previously served as AJK prime minister. He is facing a strong challenge from Sajid Iqbal Abbasi of the Awam Dast-o-Bazu Party. Abbasi is a contractor and philanthropist. He has reportedly spent substantial personal resources on welfare and development projects in the constituency. His supporters believe his community work has helped him build a strong voter base. The contest has become more interesting because Attique and Abbasi belong to the same tribe. PML-N candidate Raja Faisal Azad and PPP nominee Raja Mubashar Ejaz are also contesting Dhirkot. However, the main competition is expected to remain between Attique and Abbasi. The results of the third phase could influence the political balance in AJK. The PML-N has already emerged as the strongest party in the earlier phases. The PPP and other political groups will now seek to strengthen their position in the remaining contests.
