Poor road conditions in Ginna

Meer Baloch

The poor condition of roads in Ginna, Kech, has become a serious problem for residents. Large potholes damaged road surfaces and the lack of proper maintenance make daily travel difficult and unsafe.

Students, patients, workers and elderly people suffer the most while motorists risk accidents and costly vehicle damage every day.

During the rainy season these roads become even more hazardous, disrupting transportation and delaying emergency services. Good roads are essential for public safety and economic development, yet the people of Ginna continue to face neglect.

I urge the concerned authorities to repair the damaged roads without further delay and ensure regular maintenance. The residents of Ginna deserve safe and reliable infrastructure.

World’s tallest bridge features 300-meter artificial waterfall

China has completed several remarkable engineering projects in recent years but the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge stands out as one of the most extraordinary. Often described as an engineering marvel, the bridge is not for the faint-hearted. Anyone with a fear of heights may find crossing it a nerve-racking experience. The bridge is situated 625 meters (2,051 feet) above the ground and was opened to the public in September 2025 making it the world’s tallest bridge. However, its height is not the only feature that makes it unique. The bridge also includes a spectacular artificial waterfall making it a major tourist attraction rather than just a transportation route. Chinese authorities designed the bridge as both an infrastructure project and a tourist destination. Visitors can enjoy glass walkways, cafes inside the bridge towers and adventure activities such as bungee jumping. The bridge’s most eye-catching attraction is its 300-meter-long artificial waterfall which creates a dramatic curtain of water. A laser lighting system has also been installed allowing the waterfall to put on a dazzling display at night. According to local authorities, thousands of tourists visit the site every day. The bridge gained further recognition when Time magazine ranked it as the No. 1 destination in its list of the World’s Greatest Places for 2026. Located in Guizhou Province in southwestern China, the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge was primarily built to reduce travel time across the mountainous region. Guizhou’s rugged terrain previously made travel between many locations slow and difficult. Thanks to the new bridge, a journey that once took two hours can now be completed in about one minute. Constructed from 20,000 tons of steel roughly equivalent to the amount used in three Eiffel Towers, the bridge stretches 9,482 feet (about 2,890 meters) in length. Construction began in January 2022 and the bridge officially opened to the public in September 2025.

  • YouTube adds custom thumbnails for shorts

YouTube has launched a long awaited feature that allows creators to upload custom thumbnails for their YouTube Shorts. According to reports the new feature is currently available for creators who are part of the YouTube Partner Program (YPP). They can now choose and upload their own thumbnail images instead of relying on a frame from the video. This update gives creators more control over how their Shorts appear. Remembering Marjane Satrapi: an author who humanized Iran

The global arts community is mourning the unexpected passing of Marjane Satrapi. She is the pioneering French-Iranian author, illustrator, and film director best known for her graphic memoir Persepolis. Satrapi passed away in Paris at the age of 56. Relatives confirmed that her death was tied to profound heartbreak following the loss of her husband, Swedish producer Mattias Ripa, who died the previous year. Her death sparked an outpouring of tributes from political leaders, cultural institutions, and readers worldwide. French President Emmanuel Macron paid homage to Satrapi as a monumental talent who converted her childhood in revolutionary Iran into an accessible, universal human story, blending sharp irony, vulnerability, and courage. Born in 1969 in the northern Iranian city of Rasht, Satrapi grew up in Tehran during one of the most turbulent eras in modern Middle Eastern history. As a child of progressive, middle-class parents, she witnessed the overthrow of the Shah in 1979, followed by the rapid consolidation of power by the fundamentalist Islamic regime and the devastating Iran-Iraq War. Concerned for her safety and rebellious spirit, her family sent her to study at the Lycée Français in Vienna when she was just fourteen. Her years in Austria were marked by acute feelings of social isolation, homelessness, and cultural displacement. The struggles that would later become central themes in her creative career. After returning to Tehran to complete her university education in visual communication, Satrapi ultimately chose a life in exile, relocating permanently to France in 1994. In 2000, Satrapi published the first volume of Persepolis, a monochrome graphic novel that fundamentally altered how Western audiences viewed everyday life in Iran. Drawn in a bold, stripped-down visual style influenced by expressionist art, the book chronicled her youth with remarkable humor and emotional honesty. Satrapi demystified a country often flattened by geopolitical headlines. The book became an international bestseller, translated into dozens of languages and adopted into school curricula worldwide. In 2007, Satrapi co-directed an animated film adaptation alongside French artist Vincent Paronnaud. The film won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature, and cemented Satrapi’s standing as a multi-talented cinematic voice.        “I don’t want to return to a dictatorship and spend the rest of my life in jail being tortured.” — Marjane Satrapi Satrapi’s artistic career extended well beyond Persepolis. She directed live-action feature films including Chicken with Plums (2011), the dark comedy The Voices (2014) starring Ryan Reynolds, and Radioactive (2019), a biopic celebrating Marie Curie. In addition, she was an accomplished painter and was elected to the prestigious French Academy of Fine Arts. Yet, Satrapi remained fiercely principled. She consistently criticized the Iranian regime while demanding true integrity from Western governments. In early 2025, she publicly rejected France’s prestigious Légion d’honneur, citing European political hypocrisy regarding human rights in Iran. Following the 2022 Iranian protests triggered by the death of Mahsa Amini, she edited the collective work Woman, Life, Freedom, uniting artists and historians to support the civil rights uprising. Through her uncompromising honesty, sharp wit, and visual mastery, Marjane Satrapi left behind a legacy that proved art can dismantle prejudice, bridge divide, and speak truth to power.

  • 9-Hour eating window may protect brain health

A new early study suggests that limiting all meals and snacks to a 9-hour eating window each day and avoiding food for at least four hours before bedtime may help reduce the risk of memory and thinking problems in older age. The study looked at older women who were overweight or obese. Researchers found that women who ate within the set time window showed better mental performance than those who spread their meals over a longer period during the day. Experts say this was a small pilot study so more research is needed to confirm the findings.  However if future studies show similar results time restricted eating could become a simple way to support brain health as people age. Professor Sue Shapses a nutrition expert at Rutgers University in the United States said that weight loss alone may help slow age related decline in brain function. She added that eating only within an 8- to 9-hour period and stopping food intake at least four hours before sleep may provide extra benefits. Dementia is one of the leading causes of death worldwide with around 2 million people dying from the disease each year. While age and genetics cannot be changed experts say that a healthy lifestyle could help prevent or delay nearly half of dementia cases. They also note that obesity in middle age may increase the risk of developing dementia later in life by about 30%.

  • Can you solve this weight puzzle?

This fun brain teaser is designed to test your observation skills and logical thinking. It also helps improve problem solving and creative thinking. In the picture three people are carrying a large tree log. At first glance it looks like all three are carrying the same amount of weight. But if you look more carefully you’ll realize that the weight is not shared equally. Take a close look at the image before answering. The question is trickier than it seems. Based on how weight is distributed the person standing in the middle is carrying the heaviest load. In fact the middle person is supporting more than 25% extra weight compared to the two people on either side.
