Influencer Sara Gilson killed weeks after viral allegations

US influencer and hairstylist Sara Gilson was fatally shot in what authorities are investigating as an apparent murder-suicide, just weeks after she publicly accused her estranged husband, Jeremiah “Shawn” Duffey, of being a paedophile in a viral TikTok video. The tragic incident has drawn widespread attention, raising concerns about domestic violence and online safety.
Gilson, 43, had built a strong following on TikTok by sharing lifestyle, beauty and family-related content. She also worked as a hairstylist in Oklahoma and frequently posted videos featuring her children and everyday life. Shortly before her death, one of her TikTok videos went viral after she claimed she had discovered disturbing information about her estranged husband.
According to investigators, police responded to a 911 call from Gilson’s home in Owasso, Oklahoma, on July 23. A child inside the house contacted emergency services, and the dispatcher reportedly heard screaming and crying before a loud noise. Officers later found Gilson and Duffey with fatal gunshot wounds. Authorities believe Duffey shot Gilson before taking his own life. The investigation remains ongoing.
The case has gained national attention because it followed a series of legal actions taken by Gilson. Court records show she had filed multiple protective orders against Duffey over the years, with the most recent one granted shortly before her death. The order required him to stay away from her and leave their shared home.
Separate court documents also reveal that another protective order had been filed on behalf of a 15-year-old girl, accusing Duffey—who coached a youth basketball team—of inappropriate sexual conduct. Those allegations are separate from the homicide investigation and had not been resolved in court at the time of the incident.
Gilson’s final TikTok posts received millions of views after she alleged that her estranged husband was a paedophile. The videos quickly spread across social media, with many users expressing concern for her safety and urging authorities to investigate the claims. Following her death, those posts resurfaced as people reflected on the tragedy.
Friends and followers have remembered Gilson as a devoted mother and a positive presence online. A fundraising campaign has since been launched to support her children, while tributes continue to pour in across social media. Many users have described the incident as a heartbreaking reminder of the dangers faced by victims of domestic abuse.
The case remains under investigation, and authorities have not announced any additional criminal proceedings because the suspected shooter is deceased. Meanwhile, advocates say the tragedy highlights the importance of taking threats, protective orders and allegations of domestic violence seriously, while ensuring victims have access to timely protection and support.

Iran warns countries helping US they could also be…

TEHRAN/BISHKEK: Iran has issued a stern warning to countries that may support any future US military action against the Islamic Republic, saying states that assist or facilitate such operations could also face consequences and be held responsible under international law. The warning came as Iranian officials claimed that a US missile strike targeted a naval headquarters belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the country’s northern Gilan province, although the allegation has not been independently verified. Speaking at a regional meeting in Bishkek, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said any country participating in, assisting or enabling military aggression against Iran would bear legal and political responsibility under international law. “Those who cooperate with or facilitate any act of aggression against Iran will be held accountable,” Araghchi said, adding that Tehran reserves the right to take all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty and national security. His remarks underscore the increasingly confrontational rhetoric between Tehran and Washington amid heightened regional tensions and fears of further military escalation. Meanwhile, Iran’s state news agency IRNA quoted Gilan Deputy Governor Ali Bagheri as saying that US missiles struck an IRGC Navy headquarters located in the coastal area of Zibakenar early Friday morning. According to Iranian officials, the attack damaged equipment inside the military installation. However, authorities said there were no immediate reports of casualties and did not provide additional operational details about the extent of the damage. The United States has not officially responded to Iran’s allegations, and no independent sources have confirmed that such a strike took place. The competing claims come as tensions between the two longtime rivals continue to intensify following a series of military confrontations and accusations exchanged in recent weeks. Regional security analysts warn that increasingly aggressive statements from both Tehran and Washington could further complicate the security environment across the Middle East, particularly if neighboring countries become involved in the dispute. Experts say Iran’s latest warning appears aimed at discouraging regional allies from providing logistical, intelligence or military support to any potential US operation. Such statements also signal Tehran’s intention to broaden accountability beyond direct military participants should hostilities escalate. Diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions have so far produced little visible progress, while both sides continue to exchange sharp warnings and accusations. With neither Washington nor Tehran showing signs of softening their positions, concerns remain that the already fragile regional security landscape could deteriorate further, increasing the risk of a broader confrontation involving additional regional actors.

PPP rejects Azad Kashmir election results, alleges…

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Secretary General Nayyar Bukhari has strongly rejected the election results, declaring that his party will not accept what he described as a flawed and manipulated electoral process. Addressing a press conference in Muzaffarabad, Bukhari alleged that the elections were marred by widespread irregularities, voter manipulation, and violence, making them neither free nor fair. Bukhari claimed that the PPP possesses evidence of electoral misconduct. According to him, ballot papers were allegedly distributed among supporters of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and party workers were seen providing ballot papers outside polling stations. He argued that such practices seriously undermined the credibility of the electoral process and violated the principles of transparent and democratic elections. Speaking to journalists, Bukhari questioned the fairness of the election, stating that a truly transparent election should allow voters to cast their ballots freely without interference or manipulation. He accused the authorities and political rivals of attempting to ensure victory for their preferred candidates through unfair means. As a result, he emphasized that the PPP does not recognize these elections as free and fair and therefore refuses to accept the announced results. The PPP leader also made serious allegations against a PML-N candidate, claiming that the individual was involved in a murder case. He urged the relevant law enforcement agencies and government institutions to take immediate notice of the matter and ensure that those responsible are arrested and brought to justice. According to Bukhari, allowing such individuals to contest elections raises serious concerns about the rule of law and the integrity of the democratic process. Bukhari further alleged that law and order in Azad Jammu and Kashmir had significantly deteriorated. He pointed to what he described as increasing incidents of violence and political intimidation during the election period. Referring to recent events, he claimed that even the President of Azad Kashmir had been attacked, calling it evidence of the worsening security situation and the failure of the authorities to maintain peace. He also highlighted attacks on members of his own party. Bukhari stated that PPP Member of the National Assembly Salahuddin Junejo was attacked, while PPP worker Mushtaq Hussain Shah was killed. He described these incidents as tragic examples of political violence and intimidation aimed at discouraging democratic participation. Furthermore, he alleged that in constituency LA-31, the PPP candidate was attacked by PML-N workers and was subsequently hospitalized due to injuries sustained during the incident. Describing the elections as fraudulent and heavily rigged, Bukhari argued that the overall electoral environment was neither peaceful nor impartial. He maintained that the democratic rights of voters had been compromised and that the results failed to reflect the genuine will of the people. He stressed that elections conducted under such circumstances cannot earn public confidence or democratic legitimacy. Concluding his remarks, Bukhari stated that governments established through coercion and manipulation cannot gain lasting public acceptance. He reaffirmed that the PPP respects the will of the people and believes that democratic principles must always be upheld. However, he alleged that the public mandate, particularly in the Mirpur Division, had not been respected. According to Bukhari, the people of Azad Kashmir had rejected the PML-N, and the election results did not accurately represent the voters’ true choice.

Kushner meets Netanyahu to revive stalled Gaza pea…

US President Donald Trump’s envoy and son-in-law Jared Kushner met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem on Monday as Washington stepped up efforts to revive its stalled plan for ending the Gaza war. The meeting came a day after Kushner held talks in Cairo with Hamas representatives, including senior leader Khalil Al-Hayya, marking his second known direct engagement with the Palestinian group. Kushner was accompanied in Jerusalem by Trump’s Board of Peace envoy for Gaza, Nickolay Mladenov. The latest diplomatic push comes amid deep disagreements over the implementation of the US-backed Gaza plan. Under the proposal, Hamas and other armed groups would surrender their weapons while Israeli forces would gradually withdraw from Gaza. An international stabilisation force, alongside a new Palestinian police force, would then help maintain security in the territory. Netanyahu, however, has insisted that Israeli troops will not withdraw until Hamas and other armed groups are fully disarmed. Israel has also rejected a separate US-backed roadmap aimed at moving the broader peace plan forward. Diplomats say Israel is unlikely to make major concessions on Gaza ahead of the country’s October 27 election, adding another challenge to Washington’s efforts to break the deadlock. The talks have gained urgency as implementation of the ceasefire framework remains limited, with Israeli strikes continuing in Gaza despite commitments under the US plan. Hamas has said it accepts the proposed disarmament framework but argues that its implementation depends on Israel fulfilling its own obligations, including withdrawing forces and ending attacks. Kushner previously met Hamas officials alongside US envoy Steve Witkoff in October 2025. Those discussions helped produce an agreement that led to a Gaza ceasefire and the release of hostages captured during the October 7, 2023 attack. The latest meetings suggest Washington is seeking to reopen negotiations and bridge the widening gap between Israel and Hamas before the Gaza peace initiative loses further momentum.

Honey-trap, cyber blackmail ring busted as 3 arres…

LAHORE: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Lahore has arrested three suspected members of a honey-trap and cyber blackmailing network during a raid in Multan, officials said. According to an NCCIA spokesperson, the suspects allegedly used fake identities on social media to establish contact with unsuspecting citizens before moving conversations to WhatsApp. They would then use video calls to obtain private pictures and videos, which were allegedly used to threaten victims and extort money from them. The operation was carried out on the special directions of NCCIA Punjab Director Muhammad Ali Waseem. Acting on intelligence, an NCCIA Lahore team raided a house in Basti Saleh Mahaye, near Nawabpur Road in Multan, and arrested Dil Hassan, Umar Saeed and Umair Hassan. Initial investigations suggest that the suspects had allegedly collected millions of rupees from victims through the same method. Investigators have also secured evidence relating to financial transactions and money transfers as part of the probe. Three mobile phones were recovered during the raid. The agency said an initial forensic examination revealed several WhatsApp accounts, photographs, videos and other potentially significant digital evidence. A detailed forensic analysis is now under way. During questioning, investigators also came across the names of Muhammad Farhan, Sohail alias Loli, Zahid Haraj and Shahid Haraj, along with several other individuals. Their alleged involvement and possible links to the network are being examined. The NCCIA is now working to identify additional members of the suspected network, trace the social media accounts allegedly used in the scheme, follow the money trail and identify other potential victims. NCCIA Punjab Director Muhammad Ali Waseem said operations against individuals involved in honey-trapping and cyber blackmailing would be intensified, stressing that those found involved would face legal action under the law.
