Stephen Baldwin explains why he chose faith over H…

Stephen Baldwin has opened up about one of the biggest decisions of his career, revealing why he stepped away from mainstream Hollywood despite enjoying major success in the 1990s. The actor said he deliberately chose a different path from fellow movie star Tom Cruise, explaining that fame and blockbuster success were never his ultimate goals.

Baldwin, now 60, reflected on his career in a recent interview with People, looking back at the period following his acclaimed performance in the Oscar-winning film The Usual Suspects. At the time, many believed he was on track to become one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Instead, Baldwin said he decided to walk away from that path after experiencing a profound change in his personal life.

“I didn’t want to be Tom Cruise and have to make $100 million at the box office,” Baldwin said, adding that he preferred living a simpler life over chasing blockbuster success. He stressed that the comment was not intended as criticism of Cruise but as an explanation of his own priorities and ambitions.

According to Baldwin, everything changed in the early 2000s when he became a born-again Christian. His spiritual journey began after a Brazilian housekeeper working for his family shared what he described as a prophetic message, saying he and his wife, Kennya Baldwin, would one day dedicate their lives to ministry. Although skeptical at first, Baldwin said his perspective shifted after attending Christian events with his sister Beth Baldwin.

One event featuring Christian skateboarders particularly inspired him. The experience led him to create Livin It, a faith-based skateboarding video that combined extreme sports with Christian teachings. The project became a success and eventually grew into a nationwide ministry that took Baldwin to more than 125 churches over four years. That, he said, was the moment he realized his future was no longer in mainstream Hollywood.

Since then, Baldwin has focused on producing faith-based content while remaining active through podcasts, speaking engagements and independent projects. He admitted that his outspoken religious beliefs and political views may have made him less appealing to traditional Hollywood studios, but he has no regrets about the direction his life has taken.

The actor also credited his family for keeping him grounded. Married to Kennya Baldwin since 1990, he said his wife has been his “anchor,” while describing his faith as the foundation of everything he does. As the father of Hailey Bieber and grandfather to two young children, Baldwin said family remains his greatest blessing.

Looking back, Baldwin believes choosing purpose over fame was the right decision. While his career could have followed a more conventional Hollywood trajectory, he says he found greater fulfillment by dedicating his life to faith, family and meaningful work. Rather than measuring success by box office numbers, Baldwin now defines it through the impact he can have on others and remains convinced that his best years are still ahead.

Trump says Iran serious about talks but not ready …

US President Donald Trump has said Iran is showing greater seriousness toward negotiations than before, but cautioned that Tehran is still not prepared to reach a final agreement with Washington. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said communication between the United States and Iran remains ongoing, although the prospects for an immediate breakthrough are still uncertain. According to media reports, the US president noted that Iran’s approach has changed compared with earlier stages of the diplomatic process, describing the country’s current attitude toward negotiations as more constructive. “Iran appears to be taking the talks more seriously than before,” Trump said, while emphasizing that a final deal is not yet within reach. He added that although discussions are continuing, significant progress is still needed before both sides can arrive at a mutually acceptable agreement. Trump said his administration remains committed to pursuing diplomatic efforts and is closely monitoring developments. He stressed that the coming days and weeks would be important in determining whether the ongoing contacts can lead to meaningful progress. The latest remarks come amid continued tensions between Washington and Tehran, with diplomatic channels remaining active despite months of regional instability and military confrontations. While both sides have maintained communication, key differences over major issues have continued to prevent a comprehensive agreement. Neither US officials nor Iranian authorities have announced any new breakthrough in the negotiations following Trump’s comments. Analysts say Trump’s latest assessment may signal cautious optimism, but they also note that complex disputes remain unresolved. They believe any potential agreement would require extensive negotiations and compromises from both sides before a deal could be finalized. For now, Trump’s message suggests that while diplomacy remains alive, expectations for an immediate agreement should remain measured. Observers will be watching closely for any signs of further progress as discussions continue, with the outcome likely to have significant implications for regional stability and US-Iran relations.

Pakistan faces critical shortage of warehouse faci…

Pakistan’s healthcare system is facing a significant logistical challenge, as the country lacks a dedicated warehouse to store emergency medicines and medical kits supplied for disease outbreaks and public health emergencies, according to sources within the Ministry of National Health Services. The revelation has raised concerns about the country’s preparedness to manage essential medical supplies, particularly those intended for large-scale disease prevention and treatment programs. Health Ministry sources disclosed that Pakistan does not even have a designated warehouse for storing medicines purchased under the country’s Hepatitis C elimination initiative. The absence of proper storage facilities has forced health authorities to rely on temporary arrangements that fall short of standard warehousing requirements. According to officials, the District Health Office (DHO) in Islamabad has converted parking areas into makeshift storage rooms to accommodate the growing stockpile of medicines and medical supplies. Temporary structures and storage racks have been installed to protect the supplies until a permanent solution becomes available. While the emergency arrangement has helped address immediate storage needs, officials acknowledge that it is not a long-term replacement for a purpose-built medical warehouse designed to safely store pharmaceutical products and emergency health equipment. The shortage of storage space has become even more pressing following the arrival of hundreds of medical kits donated by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). Ministry sources said the UN agency recently supplied 742 Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC) and Family Planning kits to support Pakistan’s maternal and reproductive healthcare services. However, authorities are struggling to find adequate space to safely store the newly received supplies, creating additional logistical challenges for the health sector. Officials also revealed that medicines for approximately 1.6 million patients have already been procured under the Prime Minister’s Hepatitis C Elimination Programme. The large-scale procurement is intended to strengthen Pakistan’s campaign against one of the country’s most widespread infectious diseases, but the lack of dedicated storage infrastructure threatens to complicate distribution and inventory management. Health Ministry sources explained that temporary storage rooms were established in 2023, when additional racks and shelving units were installed to accommodate the increasing volume of medicines. These facilities were developed as an interim solution until permanent warehouse infrastructure could be built. Despite these efforts, experts believe that the growing number of medical supplies and emergency response materials requires modern storage facilities equipped with appropriate environmental controls, inventory management systems, and security measures to ensure the quality and effectiveness of medicines. Responding to concerns, Islamabad District Health Officer Dr. Rashida said that the medicines currently being stored in the temporary facilities are not deteriorating or losing their effectiveness. She maintained that health officials are taking the necessary precautions to preserve the supplies under existing conditions. At the same time, Dr. Rashida acknowledged the urgent need for a dedicated warehouse and confirmed that letters have been sent to development partners requesting support for the establishment of proper storage infrastructure. The shortage highlights broader challenges within Pakistan’s public healthcare system, where expanding disease-control programmes and increasing international assistance have outpaced the development of essential logistics and storage capacity. Health officials hope that with support from development partners and international organizations, permanent warehouse facilities can be established to strengthen the country’s ability to respond to public health emergencies and ensure the safe storage and timely distribution of life-saving medicines and medical supplies.

Iran announces $30,000 reward for capturing or kil…

TEHRAN: Iran has announced a $30,000 reward for anyone who kills or captures a US servicemember and hands them over to Iranian authorities, in a striking escalation of rhetoric amid continuing tensions between Tehran and Washington. Iranian Army chief Maj Gen Amir Hatami announced the reward, saying it had been introduced after what he described as a large number of public requests to participate in the confrontation with the United States. Under the reported scheme, a person who kills or captures a US soldier and hands the servicemember to Iranian authorities would receive $30,000, or the equivalent of about 5 billion Iranian tomans. Hatami reportedly said the reward would be doubled if the action was carried out by a woman. The announcement comes as tensions between Iran and the United States remain high. Tehran has repeatedly demanded that American forces leave the region, while Washington has maintained a significant military presence across the Middle East. Despite the threat, there are no known US ground forces permanently deployed inside Iran. Reports indicate that American personnel entered Iranian territory in April during a rescue operation following the crash of a US aircraft. Hatami also issued a warning over the Persian Gulf, Gulf of Oman and Strait of Hormuz, saying American forces would not be allowed to return. His comments came after US President Donald Trump made controversial statements concerning the strategic waterway. The Strait of Hormuz remains a major flashpoint because it is one of the world’s most important energy shipping routes. Any further escalation around the passage could have consequences well beyond the region, particularly for global oil markets. The latest Iranian announcement adds another provocative dimension to an already tense confrontation, raising concerns over the safety of US personnel and the possibility of further escalation across the Middle East.

Mohammad Amir blames workload for Shaheen Afridi’s struggles

Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir believes Shaheen Shah Afridi’s recent decline in form is largely the result of poor workload management, arguing that the left-arm pacer was overburdened during the early years of his international career. Amir made the remarks after Shaheen was left out of Pakistan’s Test squad for the ongoing series against the West Indies, a decision that has sparked fresh debate over the fast bowler’s form, fitness, and future in the longest format of the game. Shaheen was once considered Pakistan’s premier fast bowler across all three formats, but his performances in Test cricket have dipped since returning from a serious knee injury in 2023. Although he remains a key figure in Pakistan’s white-ball plans, his red-ball performances have raised concerns among former players and cricket experts. Since making his comeback, Shaheen has taken 27 wickets in 16 Test innings at an average of 40.11, with a strike rate of 67.6. His performances during Pakistan’s 2-0 home Test series defeat to Bangladesh also came under criticism, particularly because of a noticeable drop in bowling speed. The left-arm pacer, who previously relied on consistently high pace, was often clocked in the mid-120 km/h range during the series. Speaking on The Scoop by Wisden, Amir said he had predicted such challenges years ago, warning that excessive cricket without proper workload management could eventually take a toll on Shaheen’s body and performance. According to Amir, fast bowlers require careful planning throughout their careers, especially when they are expected to play regularly across all formats. He said failing to manage a pacer’s workload can affect pace, rhythm, consistency, and overall fitness over time. Amir recalled giving an interview in either 2020 or 2021 in which he expressed concern about the amount of cricket Shaheen was playing. Drawing from his own experience as a fast bowler, Amir said he warned that continuous cricket without adequate rest would eventually lead to physical and performance-related struggles. He added that the warning appears to have become reality, as Shaheen is now facing issues with pace, consistency, and fitness despite still being relatively young. Amir stressed that a player of Shaheen’s age should ideally be at the peak of his career, but the current situation suggests that something has gone wrong in his development. He maintained that poor workload management remains the biggest factor behind the left-arm pacer’s struggles. The statistics support Amir’s concerns about Shaheen’s workload before his injury. Between making his international debut and suffering a knee injury in July 2022, Shaheen bowled 809.4 overs in Test cricket, more than any other Pakistan bowler during that period. Former leg-spinner Yasir Shah ranked second with 606.2 overs, while Hasan Ali was the next-highest fast bowler with 427.3 overs. The figures highlight the significant responsibility placed on Shaheen as the leader of Pakistan’s pace attack, with many now questioning whether better workload management could have helped preserve his fitness and long-term effectiveness.
