Pakistan, Qatar push US-Iran 10-day ceasefire plan

WASHINGTON/DOHA: Pakistan, Qatar and Egypt have stepped up diplomatic efforts to prevent a wider conflict in the Middle East by proposing a 10-day ceasefire between the United States and Iran, according to a report by US news outlet Axios. However, neither side has yet agreed to the proposal as military tensions continue to escalate. The report said regional mediators are working behind the scenes to create space for diplomacy after days of intense hostilities between Washington and Tehran. The proposed ceasefire aims to temporarily halt military operations, restore maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz and open the door for renewed negotiations. According to sources familiar with the mediation efforts, the proposal has been shared with both governments, but officials in Washington and Tehran have so far withheld their approval. Diplomats say both countries appear determined to strengthen their military positions before considering any pause in fighting. The report added that US President Donald Trump is weighing two key options. The first is to endorse a limited 10-day ceasefire that could reduce regional tensions and revive diplomatic talks. The second involves expanding military operations alongside Israel in an effort to increase pressure on Iran and force concessions over security and nuclear issues. US officials quoted in the report said no final decision has been made, adding that developments over the coming days are expected to determine Washington’s next move. Despite several days of military operations, the report noted that the United States and Israel have not succeeded in eliminating Iran’s influence over the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant portion of the world’s oil supplies passes. Analysts warn that any prolonged disruption in the waterway could have serious consequences for global energy markets. The report also highlighted growing domestic pressure on the Trump administration as rising fuel prices in the United States fuel public concern over the economic cost of continued military action. Diplomatic momentum reportedly suffered a setback after two American soldiers were killed in an Iranian missile attack in Jordan over the weekend. Following the incident, Washington is said to have adopted a tougher stance while continuing diplomatic contacts. A senior US official confirmed that backchannel discussions remain active but stressed that the United States intends to respond to the deaths of its troops. The official added that military operations could continue for as long as President Trump considers necessary. Regional sources nevertheless expressed cautious optimism, saying negotiations remain the best path forward, as neither Washington nor Tehran is believed to be in a position to impose a lasting solution through military means alone.

Fazl says Naqvi couldn’t speak without PM&#8…

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi could not have made recent remarks without consulting the prime minister, while calling for a national policy to address the country’s political and administrative challenges. Addressing a press conference in Quetta, Fazlur Rehman said there was no comprehensive national policy to improve the country’s current situation. He said the proposal to create new provinces should be considered carefully in light of Pakistan’s administrative structure and overall capacity. He said creating new provinces was not a bad idea in principle, but stressed that it was not a simple process and required serious consideration of the country’s political, constitutional and financial realities. The JUI-F chief alleged that new political debates were often introduced to divert public attention from pressing national issues. He urged Mahmood Khan Achakzai to convene a meeting of the joint opposition to discuss the country’s political situation. Fazlur Rehman said if such a meeting was not called, his party would organize a broader national-level conference to deliberate on the challenges facing the country. He warned that democracy could not flourish if governments continued to be formed according to individual preferences rather than the public mandate. He further said democratic institutions had weakened and Parliament was no longer functioning effectively. According to him, Pakistan must be governed strictly in accordance with the Constitution to restore public confidence. Calling for a fair and nationally inclusive policy, Fazlur Rehman said the country needed governance based on justice and equality. He also confirmed that JUI-F had decided not to join the government in Balochistan. Commenting on provincial politics, he said JUI-F remained the country’s largest public political movement and added that he had no knowledge of any proposal regarding Abdul Malik Baloch becoming the next chief minister of Balochistan.

Mrunal Thakur warns of legal action over deepfake …

Bollywood actress Mrunal Thakur has strongly condemned the misuse of artificial intelligence to create fake videos and images using her identity. Expressing serious concern over the growing circulation of AI-generated deep fake content on social media, the actress warned that she will pursue legal action against anyone involved in creating or sharing such material. According to Indian media reports, several deepfake videos and manipulated images featuring Mrunal Thakur have recently appeared across social media platforms. The actress described the unauthorized use of her face and identity through AI technology as unacceptable and called for an immediate end to the practice. Taking to her Instagram Stories, Mrunal Thakur issued a clear warning to individuals responsible for generating or distributing fake AI content using her name or likeness. She urged them to stop immediately, stating that continued misuse of her identity would leave her with no choice but to take legal action against those involved. Deepfake technology, powered by artificial intelligence, allows users to create highly realistic but fabricated videos, images, and audio recordings. While the technology has legitimate applications in entertainment and education, it has increasingly been misused to spread misinformation, damage reputations, and violate personal privacy. Mrunal Thakur’s statement has once again highlighted the growing concerns surrounding the ethical and legal challenges posed by deepfake technology. Experts warn that AI-generated fake content can seriously affect an individual’s reputation, personal life, and professional career. In many cases, victims may also face emotional distress and legal complications as a result of manipulated media circulating online. The issue has become increasingly significant in the entertainment industry, where celebrities are frequent targets of AI-generated fake content. Actors, musicians, and public figures across the world have raised concerns about the unauthorized use of their identities and have called for stronger legal protections against digital impersonation. Governments and technology companies are also working to address the misuse of artificial intelligence by introducing stricter regulations, improving content detection systems, and developing tools to identify manipulated media. However, experts believe that public awareness and responsible use of AI remain equally important in tackling the problem. Mrunal Thakur’s strong response reflects the growing determination among celebrities to protect their privacy and digital identity. Her warning serves as a reminder that while artificial intelligence offers remarkable technological advancements, its misuse can have serious legal, ethical, and social consequences. As deep fake technology continues to evolve, stronger safeguards and greater accountability will be essential to prevent its abuse.

  • Ed Sheeran reacts to being mocked in new ‘Ali G’ trailer

Ed Sheeran has broken his silence after being mocked in the new trailer for Ali G: Who Iz I?, reacting positively to the joke at his expense. Ali G first appeared in the 2002 film Ali G Indahouse, and the character is now returning 24 years later in a new comedy, which is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on October 23. Sacha Baron Cohen is making his directorial debut with the movie, whose first trailer was released recently and features a joke about Sheeran. In the scene, Ali G can be heard saying, “I’z been gone for 20 years, chillin’, and in that time the world went to crap. There was COVID, wars, and Ed Sheeran.” The trailer also shows a clip of the Shape of You singer on the red carpet. Sheeran appeared amused by the shout-out and commented on Instagram: “Tell 10-year-old me that Ali G would put him in his movie. Restecpa.” The final word is a reference to Ali G Indahouse, where the character famously misspells the word “respect” as “restecpa.” Ali G first appeared in a segment on The 11 O’Clock Show in the late 1990s. The character was created as a parody of street culture, with Cohen portraying Ali G while interacting with public figures who were unaware that he was playing a character. The character gained further popularity after appearing in Madonna’s music video for her 2000 single Music. Cohen also developed several spin-off series featuring the character. Ali G Indahouse was promoted with the single Me Julie, performed by Cohen in character alongside Shaggy. Cohen went on to achieve major success with films such as Borat and Brüno, before taking on dramatic roles in movies including The Trial of the Chicago 7. The new Ali G film marks the character’s return to the big screen, with the trailer already generating attention for its mix of comedy, satire and celebrity references.

Sharmeen Ali, Sunita Marshall, Saima Qureshi urge parents to raise self-sufficient kids

Sharmeen Ali, Sunita Marshall and Saima Qureshi have spoken up about raising self-reliant children. They believe both sons and daughters should learn practical life skills from a young age. The three actors shared their thoughts on Nida Yasir’s morning show. They agreed that independence has nothing to do with gender. Every child should be able to take care of themselves. Every child should also help around the house. Sunita brought up safety concerns in cities like Karachi. She said these often limit how freely kids can move outdoors. Even so, she believes parents can still teach independence at home. Simple habits matter, she said. Making the bed. Cooking a basic meal. These small tasks add up over time. She also spoke about extracurricular activities. Her son manages rowing and tuition on his own schedule. That balance, she said, teaches real time management. Saima, who is raising three sons, shared a similar approach. She has her children handle their own chores. Washing dishes. Making tea. Ironing clothes. If the house needs dusting and help isn’t around, they step in too. Without early discipline, she said, kids won’t develop that habit later. Sunita added that chores are shared across her household. She takes a turn. Her husband, Hassan, takes a turn. The kids take their own turns too. Sharmeen agreed with both actors. She said chores should never be split by gender. Working mothers can’t always be present, she pointed out. That means kids need to solve problems on their own. She then reflected on her own journey. Learning to drive after her separation gave her real independence. Now, she wants to pass that same skill on to her 17-year-old daughter. The conversation also touched on how children are growing up today. The internet, they agreed, has made kids more informed than before. Saima recalled moments when her children corrected her after learning something new online. Sunita shared how her son taught himself detailed history facts from YouTube, long before school covered the same topics. Even with all this exposure, the actors were clear about one thing. Academics still come first. Screen time and hobbies, they said, should work more like rewards. Boundaries matter, and so does staying involved in a child’s daily life.
