The order maintains an earlier district court ruling by Judge Richard Leon, which blocked aboveground work on the ballroom while permitting underground construction to proceed for bunker and national security facilities. ​The panel granted a 14-day stay on its ruling, allowing the Justice Department time to file an emergency petition with the US Supreme Court. ​President Trump strongly criticized the decision on social media, describing it as “horrendous, politically motivated, and unlawful”. He argued that the project functions as a broader security complex incorporating bomb shelters, medical units, and drone shielding, warning that the halt poses a threat to national security. ​The National Trust praised the ruling, with CEO Brent Leggs stating that the decision affirms the principle that only Congress holds the authority to approve major structural additions to the White House. ​Judge Neomi Rao dissented, siding with the administration’s position that the executive branch retains sufficient discretion over the maintenance and security of the presidential residence.

    CBFC orders cuts in Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 b…

    Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi’s much-awaited film Awarapan 2 has officially received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), but only after several significant edits were made. The film has been awarded a U/A 16+ certificate, allowing viewers aged 16 and above to watch it under parental guidance. The CBFC approved the film on August 5, 2026, with a final runtime of 140 minutes and 20 seconds. However, before granting certification, the board instructed the filmmakers to implement changes at nine different points throughout the movie. According to reports, the CBFC asked the makers to tone down violent sequences, remove certain objectionable words from both the audio and subtitles, and include mandatory health warnings related to smoking and drug use. The board also directed the filmmakers to display the Hindi title prominently and ensure that anti-smoking messages remain visible during scenes featuring tobacco use. In addition, the certification body required a warning related to child trafficking to be included in the film. Some action scenes were shortened to reduce the intensity of violence, while one particular sequence was reportedly cut by nearly 50 percent. A scene involving drug inhalation was also modified to comply with certification guidelines. The end credits were adjusted to better align with the background music. Overall, approximately four minutes of footage were removed, while another 20 seconds of content were altered. Despite these edits, the film’s official runtime remains unchanged at 140 minutes and 20 seconds. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Awarapan 2 stars Emraan Hashmi alongside Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi in key roles. The film serves as the sequel to the 2007 hit Awarapan and continues the emotional storytelling of the original while introducing a darker, revenge-driven narrative. Produced by Vishesh Bhatt, the sequel also reunites composer Mithoon and lyricist Sayeed Quadri. Fans can look forward to refreshed versions of the iconic songs “To Phir Aao” and “Tera Mera Rishta,” along with several new tracks created specifically for the film. With the required CBFC changes now completed, Awarapan 2 is set for a theatrical release on August 14, 2026. He also questioned the performance of the Sindh government and urged people in Karachi to assess whether the provincial government was actually delivering on its responsibilities. The opposition leader said that the concerns of Karachi’s residents should be taken seriously, particularly in relation to law and order, governance and the protection of citizens. He questioned whether the people of Karachi believed that the provincial government was working effectively for the city. Khursheedi also commented on an incident that recently took place in the Bahadurabad area. He described the incident as unfortunate and said that it was not appropriate. However, he declined to discuss the matter in detail, saying that questions regarding the issue should be directed to the party leadership. “I am a worker, and you should ask the leadership these questions,” he told reporters when asked about the Bahadurabad incident. The MQM leader further expressed frustration over what he described as the continued deterioration of Karachi. He said that the situation had gone too far and that a stop must now be put to the problems facing the city. Khursheedi alleged that Karachi was being systematically damaged through what he described as a “system” of poor governance and mismanagement. He called for an end to practices that, in his view, were contributing to the decline of the city and affecting the daily lives of its residents. The opposition leader’s remarks come amid renewed concerns over security, governance and accountability in Karachi following the Mir Raza case. The incident has attracted attention and prompted demands for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. She remembered that audiences were increasingly drawn to Indian television serials, making it challenging for local productions to compete. Despite these obstacles, Siddiqui said her team remained determined to revive Pakistani dramas by focusing on quality scripts and emotionally engaging stories. She credited the dedication of her production houses and creative teams for helping restore viewers’ interest in local television.
