  • Ed Sheeran reacts to being mocked in new ‘Ali G’ trailer

Ed Sheeran has broken his silence after being mocked in the new trailer for Ali G: Who Iz I?, reacting positively to the joke at his expense. Ali G first appeared in the 2002 film Ali G Indahouse, and the character is now returning 24 years later in a new comedy, which is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on October 23. Sacha Baron Cohen is making his directorial debut with the movie, whose first trailer was released recently and features a joke about Sheeran. In the scene, Ali G can be heard saying, “I’z been gone for 20 years, chillin’, and in that time the world went to crap. There was COVID, wars, and Ed Sheeran.” The trailer also shows a clip of the Shape of You singer on the red carpet. Sheeran appeared amused by the shout-out and commented on Instagram: “Tell 10-year-old me that Ali G would put him in his movie. Restecpa.” The final word is a reference to Ali G Indahouse, where the character famously misspells the word “respect” as “restecpa.” Ali G first appeared in a segment on The 11 O’Clock Show in the late 1990s. The character was created as a parody of street culture, with Cohen portraying Ali G while interacting with public figures who were unaware that he was playing a character. The character gained further popularity after appearing in Madonna’s music video for her 2000 single Music. Cohen also developed several spin-off series featuring the character. Ali G Indahouse was promoted with the single Me Julie, performed by Cohen in character alongside Shaggy. Cohen went on to achieve major success with films such as Borat and Brüno, before taking on dramatic roles in movies including The Trial of the Chicago 7. The new Ali G film marks the character’s return to the big screen, with the trailer already generating attention for its mix of comedy, satire and celebrity references.

Ryan Gosling set to produce live-action Flintstones movie

Ryan Gosling is stepping into another major Hollywood project, this time entering the prehistoric world of one of animation’s most recognizable families. The Barbie star is reportedly in the early stages of developing a live-action movie based on The Flintstones for Warner Bros., with his Open Invite producing partner Jessie Henderson also attached to the project. The upcoming film is expected to offer a fresh take on the classic animated franchise rather than simply retelling the original story. According to reports, the project will center on Bamm-Bamm Rubble, the famously strong and energetic son of Barney and Betty Rubble. The character has been a memorable part of The Flintstones universe since the original animated series, and the new film could explore what his life looks like as an adult. While the project has generated interest because of Gosling’s involvement, it is still in the early development stage. The producers are currently looking for a writer who can shape the story and bring the concept to the big screen. No director or additional cast members have been confirmed at this stage, meaning many details about the live-action adaptation remain under wraps. Gosling’s involvement marks another ambitious addition to his growing list of Hollywood projects. Alongside his acting career, the 45-year-old actor has increasingly taken on producing responsibilities, including through his partnership with Henderson. Their next producing collaboration is Love of Your Life, a romantic drama directed by Rachel Morrison. The film is scheduled to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next month and is expected to attract attention as another major project from the pair. Meanwhile, Gosling also remains connected to the possibility of returning to the world of Barbie. Discussions surrounding a potential sequel to the hugely successful 2023 movie have reportedly been complicated by negotiations over compensation. The original film, directed by Greta Gerwig and written by Gerwig and Noah Baumbach, became a global phenomenon and featured Gosling alongside Margot Robbie. Although plans for a follow-up have reportedly faced delays, interest in another Barbie movie remains high. Gosling’s portrayal of Ken became one of the most talked-about aspects of the original film, earning him widespread praise and further establishing his versatility as an actor. Gosling has also had a successful year with Project Hail Mary, his major 2026 science-fiction release. The movie attracted audiences internationally and added another commercially successful title to his filmography. Its strong reception has only increased anticipation surrounding his future projects. With The Flintstones now reportedly entering development, Gosling appears set to continue exploring a wide range of genres and characters. A live-action story centered on an adult Bamm-Bamm could give the classic franchise a modern direction while introducing the beloved character to a new generation. However, fans will have to wait for further announcements before the project moves forward. With a writer still being sought and no official production timeline revealed, the live-action Flintstones movie remains in its early stages. If Gosling and Henderson succeed in bringing the concept together, the project could become another high-profile addition to Warner Bros.’ growing slate of franchise films.

Busy Philipps reveals rare brain tumour diagnosis and surgeries

Busy Philipps has opened up about one of the most frightening periods of her life, revealing that she was diagnosed with a rare malignant brain tumour earlier this year and underwent two surgeries during what she described as the “weirdest six months” of her life. The 47-year-old actress, best known for her work in Dawson’s Creek, Freaks and Geeks, Cougar Town and Girls5eva, shared details of her health battle in an emotional interview with People. Philipps said she is now grateful to be alive after doctors discovered a tumour in the frontal lobe of her brain despite her having no obvious warning signs. The tumour was found after Philipps underwent a full-body Prenuvo scan in February. She had initially considered cancelling the appointment, but her ex-husband, Marc Silverstein, encouraged her to go ahead with it. The timing was particularly emotional because her former Dawson’s Creek co-star James Van Der Beek had died shortly before the scan following his battle with cancer. Philipps recalled that she did not have typical symptoms associated with a brain tumour, such as seizures. She simply felt that something was telling her to get the scan. The examination eventually revealed a mass measuring around 2.6 centimetres in her brain. Doctors diagnosed her with a grade 2 oligodendroglioma, a rare and slow-growing type of brain tumour. Although the tumour is classified as malignant because of its potential to return over time, her medical team explained that this type has one of the more favourable prognoses among malignant gliomas. Early detection also allowed doctors to act before the condition became more serious. Following the diagnosis, Philipps underwent a major operation on March 2 to remove the tumour. She later faced another serious setback when a staphylococcus infection developed at the surgical site. The complication required a second operation to treat the infection and clean the affected area. The actress has described the entire experience as physically and emotionally overwhelming. During her initial conversation with her doctor, Philipps even managed to bring some humour into the frightening situation. She asked how quickly she could return to work after surgery and jokingly wondered whether her doctor could perform a brow lift while removing the mass from her frontal lobe. Despite everything she went through, Philipps was able to return to work after her recovery. She is continuing to undergo regular medical scans so doctors can monitor her condition and check for any possible recurrence. At present, she does not need chemotherapy or radiation treatment. Philipps has also spoken about the importance of listening to one’s instincts and being willing to seek medical answers even when something does not appear obviously wrong. Her decision to proceed with the scan ultimately led to the discovery of a tumour she did not know was there. For fans of Philipps and Van Der Beek, their connection goes back to Dawson’s Creek, the popular teen drama that aired from 1998 to 2003. Philipps joined the series in its later seasons as Audrey Liddell, while Van Der Beek played the title character, Dawson Leery. The two remained connected with their former co-stars even after the series ended. Looking ahead, Philipps is continuing her acting career. She is set to appear in Cupertino, a new CBS drama, while her other upcoming work includes the horror-comedy Horrified, featuring Julie Benz and Ron Perlman. After surviving such a difficult chapter, Philipps is now focusing on her recovery, her family and returning to work. Her story has also highlighted how unexpected medical discoveries can sometimes come from taking action even when there are no clear symptoms. By sharing her experience publicly, Philipps hopes to encourage people to pay attention to their bodies, ask questions and seek medical advice when something does not feel right. Her journey from an unexpected diagnosis to recovery has been difficult, but she says she is ultimately grateful for the chance to move forward.

During the show, Zaidi reflected on his first marriage, describing it as a love marriage that lasted 37 years. He revealed that he had hoped to celebrate his golden jubilee with his wife but sadly, that dream could not come true. Speaking about how their relationship began, Zaidi said he was only 24 when he got married. He described himself as a poetic person who fell in love instantly and saw no reason to delay the marriage. However, the relationship faced opposition from both families because of differences involving sect, language and family backgrounds. According to Zaidi, his wife’s father had already chosen another man for her and was initially unwilling to reconsider his decision. Although Zaidi’s family was relatively modern, they too had reservations about his choice. Eventually, however, they accepted his decision. Zaidi also recalled that his wife had once called him in tears and told him that she was diabetic and that he should carefully consider marrying her. Her mother also suffered from diabetes. Despite the concerns, the couple went ahead with their marriage and eventually built a family together. The couple had six children, although Zaidi revealed that the first two pregnancies ended in abortion. Later, he received a job opportunity in Nairobi, and the couple moved there. He described their eight years in Nairobi as a blessing, explaining that the pleasant weather, excellent healthcare facilities and quality medical care his wife received made the experience particularly meaningful. Zaidi said his wife spent considerable time in hospitals during her pregnancies, but she received excellent care. He viewed their relocation to Nairobi as a blessing in disguise because all of their children were eventually born there. The veteran artist also spoke candidly about the difficult period following his wife’s death. He revealed that he had never planned to marry again and used to dismiss the idea of a second marriage. However, four years after his first wife passed away, he began experiencing a profound sense of detachment from life. He admitted that although he continued working and remained involved in various activities, he felt mentally lost and was falling apart emotionally. During this challenging period, he eventually began considering the possibility of remarriage. Zaidi said there was initially no one in his life, but he later met an Iranian woman who was considerably younger than him. Although he initially tried to avoid the idea of marriage, their relationship developed naturally and they eventually fell in love. He revealed that they have now been married for 10 years. Looking back, Zaidi said his second marriage was something he had never expected, but life ultimately took him in a direction he had not planned. His candid conversation offered viewers a deeply personal look into his experiences with love, marriage, loss, family and finding companionship again later in life.

According to the details shared about the case, Ayat Noor had been missing for 14 days. During that time, her father reportedly searched tirelessly for his daughter, hoping that she would be found alive and brought home safely. His search, however, ended in devastating circumstances when Ayat’s body was discovered in a well on the 15th day. Police reportedly confirmed that the child had been sexually assaulted and murdered. ‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’ sequel confirmed

LOS ANGELES: Fans of the popular romantic comedy How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days have reason to celebrate as a sequel to the 2003 film is officially moving forward, more than two decades after the original became a rom-com favourite. The upcoming project is being developed by Paramount Pictures, with actress Kate Hudson, who played the lead character in the original movie, attached as a producer. Details about the sequel are currently being kept under wraps. The storyline has not been revealed, and no official cast announcement has been made so far. However, there is growing speculation that Hudson and Matthew McConaughey could return to their famous roles as Andie Anderson and Benjamin Berry. Neither actor has officially confirmed a return at this stage. The original film centred on Andie Anderson, a journalist working for Composure magazine. She takes on an unusual assignment to write an article explaining how a woman could make a man end a relationship within 10 days. Her target is Benjamin Berry, an advertising executive who becomes involved with her without knowing the real reason behind her behaviour. Benjamin, meanwhile, has his own secret challenge. He makes a bet that he can make Andie fall in love with him within the same period. Their competing plans lead to a series of misunderstandings, romantic moments and comedic situations. The film eventually turns into a genuine love story despite both characters initially having hidden motives. McConaughey’s casting was reportedly not straightforward. Hudson previously revealed that the studio did not initially consider him the obvious choice for the male lead. She said she pushed for McConaughey because she believed the two actors had the right chemistry for the film. Hudson later explained that she wanted to work with him because they had a competitive energy and could challenge each other on screen. She credited his commitment and focused approach to acting as important factors behind their successful pairing. Her decision proved successful. The chemistry between Hudson and McConaughey became one of the film’s biggest attractions and helped turn the movie into one of the better-known romantic comedies of the early 2000s. McConaughey has also spoken positively about the film years after its release. He has described it as one of his favourite romantic comedies and said its popularity has continued to benefit him financially. The actor previously joked that the movie remains his biggest source of so-called “mailbox money”, referring to the continuing income he receives from its popularity and repeated screenings. Directed by Donald Petrie, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days was a commercial success when it reached cinemas in 2003. The film was made on a reported budget of around $50 million and earned nearly $180 million worldwide. Over the years, the movie has developed a strong following and become a staple of the romantic-comedy genre. The announcement of a sequel has therefore generated considerable interest among fans who have long wanted to see what happened to Andie and Benjamin after the events of the original film. For now, Paramount has not disclosed the sequel’s release date, storyline or confirmed cast. Any return by Hudson and McConaughey will depend on official confirmation from the studio and the actors

Hira Qaiser wins: Why is the internet divided?

Faisalabad’s Hira Qaiser has been crowned the winner of Pakistan Idol Season 2, securing the title after a months-long singing competition that concluded with a grand finale on Sunday. Hira received a cash prize of Rs1.5 million along with the coveted trophy. Her victory came after a series of performances that earned her recognition from the judging panel and helped her reach the final stage of the competition. The emotional finale became particularly memorable when Hira walked onto the stage with her toddler. She received the trophy from host Shafaat Ali and became visibly emotional during the celebration. Hira, who comes from a middle-class family in Faisalabad, expressed her gratitude after being announced as the winner. She thanked the Pakistan Idol team, judges and viewers for supporting her throughout the competition. For her final performance, Hira performed a song by Mekaal Hasan, receiving appreciation from the judges, including singer Atif Aslam. However, her victory quickly became a subject of debate on social media. While many viewers congratulated Hira and praised her final performance, others questioned the judges’ decision and argued that another finalist was more deserving of the title. Some social media users described Hira’s singing style as distinctive but limited. They argued that she frequently performed folk and Punjabi songs and suggested that she showed less versatility when performing Urdu tracks. A section of viewers particularly backed Turab Nafees, saying the Karachi-based contestant demonstrated greater versatility and should have won the competition. Other viewers suggested that the audience should have had a greater role in selecting the winner. They argued that a public voting system could have produced a different result. Despite the criticism, Hira also received considerable support online. Many fans defended her victory and praised the quality of her performances throughout the season. Supporters said the singer had established a strong connection with audiences and demonstrated enough consistency to deserve the title. Some also highlighted the emotional significance of her journey from Faisalabad to the Pakistan Idol stage. The contrasting reactions have made Hira’s victory one of the most discussed moments of the season. While some viewers believe the judges made the right choice, others remain convinced that Turab Nafees or other finalists were stronger contenders.
