Fake spiritual guru arrested in Pune over alleged …

A 23-year-old man posing as a motivational speaker, social media influencer and spiritual guide has been arrested in Pune, India, over allegations of obtaining private images of a 22-year-old woman and later using them to harass and threaten her.

According to Indian media reports, police launched an investigation after the woman filed a complaint against the accused, identified as Divya Jitendra Parmar. Police subsequently arrested the suspect and seized a mobile phone and laptop believed to have been used in the alleged offence.

Investigators said the accused had built an online persona portraying himself as a trusted motivational speaker and spiritual figure. He allegedly contacted the woman through social media and gradually gained her confidence.

According to the complaint, the accused later told the woman that she needed to follow a particular method to remove what he described as negative energy from her body. Under this pretext, he allegedly persuaded her to share private images and follow certain physical exercises.

Police allege that the accused subsequently used the images to harass the woman and threatened to circulate them if she refused to establish a sexual relationship with him. The woman then approached police and lodged a complaint.

During the investigation, authorities reportedly seized the suspect’s mobile phone and laptop, along with photographs, videos, messages and other digital evidence. Police are examining the material to establish the full circumstances of the case.

Investigators are also looking into whether the accused may have targeted other women using a similar method. This aspect of the investigation could determine whether the alleged incident was isolated or part of a wider pattern of online manipulation.

The case has also highlighted the risks associated with individuals who use social media to build false identities and gain the trust of vulnerable people. Authorities have increasingly emphasized the importance of verifying online identities and reporting threats involving private images.

Police have registered a case against the accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act. The investigation remains ongoing, and the allegations will be subject to the legal process.

The case serves as another warning about the misuse of private digital content and the dangers of trusting unverified online personalities who claim to offer spiritual, motivational or personal guidance.

IHC seeks govt response over Arshad Chaiwala’s p…

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has sought responses from the federal government and the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports over the reported non-renewal of the passport of Arshad Khan, popularly known as “Arshad Chaiwala.” Justice Umair Majid Malik heard the petition filed by Arshad Khan, with Barrister Umar Ejaz Gilani representing him in court. The petitioner’s counsel told the court that Arshad Khan is an entrepreneur who has promoted Pakistani culture internationally. According to the counsel, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) verification board has already cleared Arshad Khan’s identity. His Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) is also active. The court was informed that Arshad had applied for renewal of his passport on August 20, 2025. However, despite the passage of nearly a year, the renewed document had allegedly not been issued. The lawyer said Arshad had repeatedly contacted the office of the interior secretary to resolve the matter but had not received a satisfactory response. He also informed the court that a legal notice had been served on the interior secretary. Despite the notice, no response was reportedly received. Arshad has asked the high court to direct the authorities to issue his renewed passport without further delay. His petition also seeks a declaration that the continued failure to issue the passport is unlawful and violates his fundamental rights. During the hearing, Justice Umair Majid Malik observed that the court would first obtain the position of the relevant government authorities before examining the matter further. The IHC subsequently issued notices to the Director General Immigration and Passports and the federal government through the interior secretary.

President Masoud Pezeshkian meets Supreme Leader M…

TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has held an important meeting with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei as speculation over the president’s future continues to attract attention amid heightened tensions with the United States and Israel. The meeting reportedly came as Pezeshkian entered the third year of his presidency. It also followed reports suggesting that the Iranian president was considering stepping down, claims he has rejected. Iranian authorities have previously dismissed resignation reports as unfounded, while Pezeshkian has publicly indicated that he intends to continue serving. According to statements attributed to Mojtaba Khamenei on social media, the discussions covered a wide range of economic, military and strategic issues facing Iran. Among the topics were the economic needs of ordinary Iranians, the country’s military situation, access to resources and management of the Iranian rial, foreign currency and energy costs. The two leaders also discussed economic relations with foreign partners and the wider implications of the confrontation with Washington and Israel. The meeting comes at a particularly sensitive moment for Tehran. Iran remains under pressure from the continuing regional conflict and economic difficulties, while efforts to engage Washington have faced repeated obstacles. The reported contact is also notable because Pezeshkian recently said that reaching Mojtaba Khamenei had been difficult, prompting speculation about the supreme leader’s health and whereabouts. Reports in recent days have offered conflicting accounts about how and where senior Iranian officials have been able to meet him. Meanwhile, Iran’s diplomatic efforts with the United States remain uncertain. According to the material cited by Iranian officials, negotiations have been reduced largely to messages exchanged through intermediaries after earlier attempts failed to produce a lasting agreement. The political backdrop has also been complicated by reported tensions between the presidency and powerful military-security institutions. Some reports have suggested disagreements over decision-making and the conduct of Iran’s response to the conflict, although details remain contested. Pezeshkian’s political position has therefore become a subject of renewed attention. He was elected president in July 2024 following the death of former President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash. Mojtaba Khamenei, meanwhile, became Iran’s supreme leader in March 2026 following the death of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, during the conflict. Against this backdrop, the latest meeting between the president and supreme leader carries significance beyond routine government business, particularly as Iran confronts economic pressures, military uncertainty and difficult relations with Washington. For now, however, Pezeshkian remains in office, while reports of his resignation have been publicly rejected.
