Fazlur Rehman urges peace as Kashmir protests cont…

ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has called for restraint and dialogue amid the ongoing protest movement in Kashmir, urging state institutions to prioritize reconciliation over confrontation.

In a video message released on Friday, the veteran religious and political leader said demonstrations in Kashmir have continued for nearly two months, describing the movement as a reflection of public frustration. He paid tribute to the patience and resilience of the Kashmiri people, saying they had shown remarkable endurance despite prolonged unrest.

According to Fazlur Rehman, tensions escalated on June 5, prompting efforts by a mediation committee to help resolve the crisis through negotiations. He said the committee had approached him with confidence to support a peaceful settlement, but claimed its efforts did not receive the attention they deserved from the authorities.

The JUI-F chief alleged that the government had remained focused on suppressing the movement through the use of force rather than engaging in meaningful dialogue. He appealed to the protest committee to allow more time for mediation and avoid taking any major step that could further escalate the situation.

“I salute the patience and perseverance of the Kashmiri people,” Fazlur Rehman said, adding that the movement was spreading across Kashmir and drawing attention from audiences around the world.

He also urged state institutions to adopt a path of peace instead of violence, emphasizing that reconciliation and mutual understanding were essential for resolving political disputes and restoring stability.

The remarks come at a time of heightened political activity and continued demonstrations in parts of Kashmir, where various groups have been calling for action on governance and public concerns. While political leaders continue to offer differing assessments of the situation, Fazlur Rehman stressed that dialogue remains the most effective way to reduce tensions and move toward a lasting solution.

Indian actress brutally murdered; body found in pieces, head still missing

CHENNAI, August 7, 2026: A shocking murder case in the Indian city of Chennai has led police to identify the victim as Sindhya, an emerging Tamil actress, after her dismembered remains were recovered from different locations. According to Indian media reports, residents alerted police after noticing human fingers protruding from a plastic bag near a garbage dump in Chennai. When police opened the bag, they found a severed hand and legs inside. More plastic bags were later discovered in different parts of the city. The bags contained human bones, body parts and other remains. A post-mortem examination determined that the remains belonged to the same woman. Police said the victim had been killed and her body was allegedly cut into pieces using a sharp weapon. However, her head and left hand remained missing, making identification difficult. During the investigation, police noticed two distinctive tattoos on the victim’s right hand. One tattoo depicted the Hindu deities Shiva and Parvati, while the other featured a dragon. Meanwhile, a woman approached a police station to report her daughter missing. She told investigators that her 37-year-old daughter, Sindhya, was an aspiring Tamil actress who lived in Chennai with her husband and two children. Sindhya’s mother reportedly told police that her son-in-law had claimed Sindhya had gone out of the house but had not returned. Police later showed the recovered remains and identifying marks to Sindhya’s family. Her mother identified her daughter based on the tattoos and other features. A subsequent DNA test also confirmed that the recovered remains belonged to Sindhya. Following the identification, police questioned Sindhya’s husband, Balakrishnan. He initially claimed that his wife had left home and never returned. However, investigators reportedly found inconsistencies in his statements. Police later claimed that Balakrishnan confessed to the killing during questioning. According to investigators, Sindhya and Balakrishnan had an argument before the incident. Police alleged that Balakrishnan attacked Sindhya with an axe, killing her before dismembering her body and placing the remains in plastic bags, which he allegedly dumped at different locations.

  • Beloved Big Bear eagle Jackie passes away, leaving millions heartbroken

Jackie, the bald eagle who captured hearts across the internet, died on Monday. She had spent weeks under veterinary care after a rough patch in her final months. Caretakers at the Ojai Raptor Center had taken her in following an attack by rival eagles near her Big Bear home. The center shared that her health kept slipping despite round-the-clock treatment from vets and outside specialists. Things first went wrong on July 17, when Jackie was discovered injured after clashing with two other eagles. She was also dealing with serious weight loss and anemia at the same time, which made recovery an uphill fight. Even with intensive support, her body simply couldn’t bounce back, and she passed away this week. Her death has left thousands of longtime fans mourning online. So how did a wild eagle become such a household name? It all traces back to a livestream. Since 2015, the nonprofit Friends of Big Bear Valley broadcast Jackie and her partner Shadow’s nest around the clock, letting strangers around the world watch their daily lives unfold. One of her most unforgettable moments came during a brutal winter storm in 2024, when she stayed put on her eggs for more than 60 hours straight without budging. Viewers stuck around through the hard parts too, watching Jackie and Shadow deal with eggs that never hatched and predators trying to raid the nest. When chicks did survive and eventually flew off on their own, fans celebrated as though it were their own family news. Part of what made Jackie so beloved was her personality. She came across as fierce and fiercely protective, the clear boss of her nest, while Shadow played the gentler role of provider, bringing back food for the family. Wildlife experts say her journey mirrored something bigger too: the slow but real return of bald eagles across California decades after the species nearly vanished from the state. Her remains are now with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Erin Andrews spills the tea on Taylor and Travis’ wedding

Nearly a month after Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce said their vows, sportscasters Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson are opening up about what made the day so special. During a recent episode of their Calm Down podcast, the hosts congratulated the couple and described the celebration in glowing terms. Andrews called the night magical and admitted it stirred something in her, joking that witnessing the wedding almost made her want a similar commitment ceremony of her own. Thompson chose not to reveal too many specifics about the event but shared one reflection that stuck with her. She said watching the couple exchange vows reminded her that once you find the right person, everything else falls into place. She added that the weekend reinforced a simple truth for her, that no amount of success or wealth means much without someone to share it with. Andrews agreed with her co-host and noted that fans have been eager for details ever since the ceremony took place. She echoed Thompson’s sentiment, calling the night magical in her own words, and admitted she still feels protective of the pop star. She also revealed that she almost pushed back publicly against people spreading false claims about the wedding online, saying she was frustrated watching strangers invent stories about things that simply never happened. Looking back on the celebration, Andrews said one of her favourite parts was getting to meet people close to the couple whom she had only heard about before. She described the atmosphere as warm and effortlessly enjoyable, adding that everyone she crossed paths with was friendly and easy to be around. Swift and Kelce’s wedding capped off a whirlwind engagement that lasted less than a year. The couple exchanged vows on July 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, turning the iconic arena into the setting for one of the most talked-about celebrity weddings of the year. With both hosts offering a rare glimpse into the day from the perspective of guests rather than tabloids, fans now have a warmer, more personal picture of how the celebration actually unfolded, far removed from the rumours that followed it online.
